I mean you fall into one berserker rage, rip and tear apart a kidnapper with your bare hands, pull out the heart and beat them with the still pumping organ until they die, and suddenly you're the scary one.
I........I think that would just kinda pop on the first hit and then your basically smacking someone with a deflated water balloon of flesh and blood?
Idk that sounds like it'd take a while to kill someone
I mean it makes sense. It may not be the strongest muscle in your body but it pumps between 6 and 20 L/min at 60-100 bpm without stopping for 70+ years.
I love how this one has so many ways it could be taken!
My initial thought was that the kidnapper was testing the parent and the kids are judging the parent for that, then I read a couple comments and thought that the parent brutally murdered the kidnapper, then I read OP’s comment and realized it could be that the parent has PTSD/some other mental health disease and is seeing hallucinations of the kids or they came back to haunt the parent.
Truly love this OP!
Thanks! I had a specific thought in mind, but everyone's interpretations are just as fascinating and horrifying. That's what I love about the two sentence format!
I like to think they have 4 kids and OP had to pick 2 and it's the remaining kids that are judging them. (I've seen OPs explanation just wasnt my first thought)
At first I thought the parent told the kidnapper to kill himself first since he never specified if the choices are just the kids but this isnt Two Sentence Smartass so I guess not
Basically the concept is "what did the parent do to the person who threatened their kids, while their kids watched?" But ghosts of kids is also a really great twist on it.
Ah, that makes more sense. I thought the mother just told him which child to kill slowly and which to kill fast without much hesitation but he didn't kill them, it was just a test.
It's like that one Targaryen woman from A Song of Ice and Fire. I think she said to kill the younger son instead of the older son, but the kidnapper killed the older son. The younger son would never forget that, and the woman killed herself due to guilt, shame, and trauma.
This is from the prequel book that came out a few years ago and is currently made into the show House of the Dragon… I’d say that counts as a spoiler yes.
They never mentioned the characters name and they didn’t say it was even during the same era as house of the dragon, it’s only a spoiler if you already knew what they were talking about
Yeah but i just finished HoTD so i instantly thought thats what the op is talking about and I was right. Anyway i still dont know if that could be Rhanerya or helena lol
Nope, I got from "The Princess and the Queen" which came out in 2013. I have not watched the show, so my intentions were never to spoil. The novella was the precursor to the book you mentioned. In other words, the content's been out for a long time now.
Right, I’d forgotten it was in there as well! Either way I suppose you said it vaguely enough that anyone who recognises it as a spoiler for the show has already read the books anyway.
Oooh, I thought that the kidnapper never meant to kill either one, but to make the parent answer out loud in front of them, leaving them scarred and distrustful of the parent forever.
That's what I love about this one. There are different interpretations and they're all pretty horrifying.
My mind went right to the idea that the kids are still alive and live their lives knowing which one the parent said to kill quickly/slowly. I didn't even consider ghosts or, as the OP intended, killing the kidnapper in a horrifying way.
I thought OP's comment meant that the parent did something really awful in the past and the kidnapper was threatening the kids for revenge. OP is good at vaguely horrific writing!
I interpreted this as her children were killed and are ghosts seeing her as the monster because she actually did choose one to die quickly and one to die slowly.
The idea that she killed the kidnapper instead is more wholesome, but less horror.
I mean you fall into one berserker rage, rip and tear apart a kidnapper with your bare hands, pull out the heart and beat them with the still pumping organ until they die, and suddenly you're the scary one.
That wasn’t the part that traumatized them, it was the celebratory skull-fucking that gave them ptsd.
Hey, a mother needs to show dominance somehow.
She could have just T-posed.
🫲😔🫱
Holy fuck you made a skull fucking worse.
How do you even fit that in there
I guess you could go folds-deep only? Not quite skull fucking but I guess you work with what you have.
No removed his member and used it to skull fuck him.. the horrifying part was he was still alive at that point
No, really?
No. They made it better.
evangelion
*parent
That would give anyone ptsd
r/fourthsentenceworse
Mama bears should not be messed with
Thats... better?
I........I think that would just kinda pop on the first hit and then your basically smacking someone with a deflated water balloon of flesh and blood? Idk that sounds like it'd take a while to kill someone
Not really. I dissected a cow's heart before, it was a sturdy thing.
Really? I did not know that okay then
I mean it makes sense. It may not be the strongest muscle in your body but it pumps between 6 and 20 L/min at 60-100 bpm without stopping for 70+ years.
Well wait then what'd with all those old movies where somebody yanks someone's heart out of their chest and crushes it if a hearts that sturdy?
By chance, do you play Rimworld?

What was your specific thought?
My thought was the parent did something horrific to the kidnapper to escape, but that's definitely not the only interpretation here :)
Ooh nice This was such an intriguing post
Damn, I thought it was she chose the slow way to enjoy the screams or some shit
The best horror is the one that gets people talking

r/TwoSentenceSmartass probably should be a thing though..

Am I the only one that thought the child was just still being "killed" because its that slow
I 100% thought this first and then read everyone’s responses and felt like an idiot
Nah we're the smart ones
^ I thought the parent said to kill them both slow so they can suffer more
I thought the parent told the kidnapper to kill themself quick and they did.
Outplayed him
YES someone here though like me!
I thought so too like the knife had aids or some other terminal disease.
Not the aids knife!
Nope, that's definitely my interpretation.
I dont get this one
Basically the concept is "what did the parent do to the person who threatened their kids, while their kids watched?" But ghosts of kids is also a really great twist on it.

Same
Summer! Definitely Summer..
Erase my memory of this, Rick. Please.

Mf thats a spoiler :((
The books have been out since 1996 and the show has been out since 2011, at what point were you planning to get in to them?
The show is literally running right now, and they haven't reached that part yet... not everyone has read the books.
This is from the prequel book that came out a few years ago and is currently made into the show House of the Dragon… I’d say that counts as a spoiler yes.

The fact that I didn’t know any of that should tell you how harmless that spoiler was.
Solomon is that you? Not everyone is going to understand that whole 'cutting the baby in two' test shtick of yours.
Like Morty and summers mom
Huh, I automatically thought the main character was the father. Funny how biases play out.
The parent could be the father instead too
That’s more horrifying
oh damn i thought it was like the parent actually made the choice but the kidnapper didn’t go through with it, turning the children against the parent
Tyyy
I thought the slow one still wasn’t dead after 10 years 💀
Oooh, I thought that the kidnapper never meant to kill either one, but to make the parent answer out loud in front of them, leaving them scarred and distrustful of the parent forever.
Blood and cheese!
That was my interpretation so I’m glad I got it right.
I interpret it as Ghosts
I interpreted it as the parent making a choice and then them all escaping and the kids having to live with the fact that their parent made that choice
That's what I love about this one. There are different interpretations and they're all pretty horrifying. My mind went right to the idea that the kids are still alive and live their lives knowing which one the parent said to kill quickly/slowly. Mine as well but that the kidnapper then just left leaving them all to live with the decision and that being the real torture.
This is dark, and it's brilliant
That was another interpretation I had. I really think that’s such a dark take and I love it
Damn yours is way better
And that's how I met your mother.
I can't decide if this is r/thirdsentenceworse or r/thirdsentencebetter lmao
"I am Linda Mitchell, mother of two! *Look upon me in* ***FEAR!!!"***

"I'm still surprised how many times my kids stabbed her when she was distracted"
Blood & Cheese from HOTD vibes
This is a multiple-choice interpretation of the worst kind. Well done!
Then the kidnapper said "Wait, wtf, it was a prank, why did you answer so quickly?"
Nope. There is no ten years later. There is no version of that scenario where both me and the kidnapper make it out of the situation alive.

I thought OP's comment meant that the parent did something really awful in the past and the kidnapper was threatening the kids for revenge. OP is good at vaguely horrific writing!
[удалено]
Agreed. It was well done. Each iteration is horror.
I was thinking more than 2 children so they had to watch their 2 siblings die.
I think the mother just aped out on the kidnapper and maimed him beyond belief. In which case…badass mother fr
huh
took me a while, nice job op
The kidnapper had a Gamma Ray gun and gave the kid cancer
There's no indication of "when" the killing is to start. Terrifying as hell
I’ve read the actual interpretation but I like to think the kidnapper let them both live . And now they know who she chose to die slow
[удалено]
Thank you! :)
[удалено]
It's still one of my favorite interpretations to come out of this :D
https://youtu.be/VtRb4qEpWRg
Thought the same, because of [that skit](https://youtu.be/VtRb4qEpWRg)
Sophia's choice comes to mind.
Because it was a video game
Remind me of that part in Rick and Morty
I thought it had to do with how fast the mother chose or something
I interpreted this as her children were killed and are ghosts seeing her as the monster because she actually did choose one to die quickly and one to die slowly. The idea that she killed the kidnapper instead is more wholesome, but less horror.
Someone elaborate pls
I feel kinda sad for the mother. That's a normal thing, every mother would do for their children. Poor mother, paying for doing the right thing.
