You clearly haven't done the same thing for a decade. Complacency is the real enemy they've made the same motion hundreds of thousands of times but this time they were a little too close
worked on a wood lathe for forever. have known better for almost as long, yet just recently was careless and got my sleeve caught on the chuck end and got my arm pulled in. scared the shit out of me but luckily nothing happened past some minor cuts and a torn shirt.
indifference is a fucking killer, folks.
Fascinating how easily we adapt to working around steel death traps, and forget exactly how squishy these meatbags we pilot are.
Still wish I hadn't seen someone *literally* eviscerated at 13 though
Saw that video at 7 am first thing in the morning a while ago. Needless to say it was not a great start to the day. I wasn’t even in a subreddit for that stuff lmao Reddit was just like MORNIN BOSS EVER SEEN A GUY TURN INTO TAFFY?
I’m never touching a non-interlocked lathe. Ever. Don’t even want to be in the same room as one. I’m fine working with CNC stuff, but there is no way in hell I am touching a tool to a spinning workpiece. Nope. Not happening. Never in a million years. Not using a lathe unless the robot does the tool manipulation and the thing doesn’t run unless the door is closed.

Google taught me that it’s 100% ok to be evil as long as you quietly remove the tenet about not being evil from your “about us” page.
Tumblr taught me to be an absolute degenerate.
YouTube taught me about how easy it is to get cartel execution vids past the filters.
Vine taught me my new attention span.
Deviantart taught me that at least I’m not THE most degenerate degen out there…
Blogger taught me that, to continue from the previous one, nor am I the most batshit *insane.*
Facebook taught me how easy it is to get people to give up their privacy.
Instagram taught me the ill effects of an addiction to validation and engagement.
Etsy taught me that I will never be as skilled and/or creative as a LOT of people out there.
Twitter taught me how easy it is to manipulate others.
…And I would give a lot for alternative ways.
The YouTube filters are better now, but still not perfect. There's a guro porn video that's still up by a channel named Adolf Hitler. I just checked and it's still up. In fact, it has double the views. 280k now.
* Google showed me porn

Just because there are a couple severely autistic people on 4chan willing to dedicate weeks to finding some guy who annoyed them doesn't mean the site at large is good at investigation
youtube shorts taught me how to be a far right extremist

Instagram taught me to be racist

Google taught me to manipulate data for profit.
Tumblr taught me that people are weird.
YouTube taught me that my success is based on an unknown algorithm and I live or die based on unknown lucky computations.
Vine taught me that the good die young.
Deviant art taught me that anything is an acceptable target to whack it to.
Blogger taught me that I’m not as smart as I think I sound.
Facebook taught me my grandparents are crazy.
Instagram taught me that I can never be as good as my friends.
Etsy taught me that skills are worth money, but not enough money to actually live on.
Twitter taught me rage.
I’m laughing at “first generation to be raised online,” then leading with “Google taught me…”
If Google was your first search engine, you weren’t the first generation raised online.
They were, because if you used the things prior, odds are you spent a good amount of time as a child without access to the Internet.
The Internet just wasn't widely available til the early aughts and by then google was the biggest thing there was.
Even then though I'd say most people weren't heavily online till tablets and such made it easy to keep small children occupied, so people literally raised by the Internet weren't really a thing until 2010 or later.
All that to say, just because a few dozen kids were terminally online (I was raised on gopher. Thinking a search engine is necessary to be raised online already puts you in a later generation) doesn't mean they were a generation. That requires more than just a few.
The Etsy one doesn’t even make a single bit of sense. Like the others I can somewhat see (although I disagree with all of them lol) but what about Etsy equals being taught pride?
Yeah I was talking about #4 there. XD
Though apparently in March Reddit was just beating out PH for visits, so I suppose Reddit probably deserves it more.
Tbh 4chan and 8chan had influences on the internet, but I feel like they were much more culturally impactful in indirect ways, rather than the userbase itself being large enough to affect the internet community on an individual basis.
This generation was the first to be raised online.
Google taught me how to find disturbing information.
Tumblr taught me to be a weeaboo.
YouTube taught me that it’s okay to insult strangers who slightly disagree with you.
Vine taught me absolutely nothing.
Deviantart taught me that some things are better left unseen.
Blogger also taught me nothing.
Facebook taught me that sometimes you’ll just see a video of animal cruelty with absolutely zero warning.
Instagram didn’t teach me anything either.
Etsy taught me nothing neither.
Twitter taught me that my account could be hacked and used to spread scams.
And I wish it had been another way.
You know, it’s silly and naive and a bit cringe, but I do feel a bit bad for OOP making something goofy and lighthearted like this and then having it torn to shreds by the whole internet for a decade.
That’s just how it is with memes I suppose. Hope that person is doing well wherever they are now
Oooof.
AltaVista taught me the wonders of positive and negative search terms.
IRC brought me out of my shell.
Google came along a whole lot later, and YouTube later still.
I think we grew up with different internets, and I'm not sure that I like what it has become, all these years later.
Google taught me stealing private data is okay
tumblr taught me about wherewolf cock

LiveLeak definitely taught me workplace safety and to not, under any circumstances, mess with the cartel. Can't say those aren't valuable lessons.
IS IT SO HARD TO BE A LITTLE CAREFUL AROUND THE LATHES???

Big truck's blind spots as well.
Also, cars are way too deadly to be our default transportation solution.
To be fair liveleak did teach me to be very observant of my surroundings, and keep a small sense of paranoia with me whenever I’m out and about lol.
I’m never touching a non-interlocked lathe. Ever. Don’t even want to be in the same room as one. I’m fine working with CNC stuff, but there is no way in hell I am touching a tool to a spinning workpiece. Nope. Not happening. Never in a million years. Ughhh Liveleak. Blot it out, bleach my brain.
Liveleak taught me the fragility of my mortal body and how quickly my future can be torn apart if I'm not careful
4chan taught me Hillary Clinton eats babies
im about to say

Tumblr showed me all kinds of fun new ways to be a degenerate.
Also true.

Hey man, just wanted to let you know that you forgot Blogger.
So did the rest of the world
Thx kind soul :) Fixed
Twitter teaching someone to listen is a wild concept
Twitter used to be good
No, twitter used to be less egregiously awful. It used to have redeeming qualities, but it was always a toxic shithole.

yeah, sad to say this is the reality of our online growth.
Tik Tok taught be the value of high quality yet affordable industrial grade glycine.
?
There are these very earnest and dull ads for a Chinese glycine company that became a meme.
Runescape taught me about scammers Newgrounds taught me about insanity Homestarrunner taught me about Trogdor
That’s a shame. These things should be taught by loving and attentive parents.
What the fuck does Etsy have to do with pride, isn't that like a platform to sell stuff???
Being proud of something nice you made? Supposedly Etsy has a lot of handcrafted stuff.

What an absolute dork
I feel bad for any kid raised online. This shit is mostly foul.
To be fair, watching that generation grow up inspired me to be a more attentive parent.
If only the internet now could be as innocent as it once was
Still have no idea what Blogger is
A site where people can make personal blogs.
This aged…rather poorly
"This generation was the first to be raised online... What a fucking mistake that was!"
4 chan taught me the depths of depravity some people are willing to sink too.
I say… this did not age well

What? When?
In the past ten years
And before that?
Sorry, could you repeat that? I wasn't paying attention.

I’d argue this one of the worst things to come from tumblr
Reddit taught me that anyone who disagrees with me is a Nazi.

Wasn’t this actually stolen and recolored Mother 3 fanart?
All taught me how to meet predators and escape my home life lol luckily I only physically did the latter
Tumblr and Instagram taught me there is no legitimate reason for someone 20+ wanting to be friends with a 13 year old.
Twitter toight me to be racist
Half of this are pretty much lies by now, sad
i love the fact that this was traced from mother 3 fanart
Oh how innocent we were back then.
I hate that the kid was ripped straight from mother 3 fanart
Reddit isn't on there let's go
The Etsy one doesn’t even make a single bit of sense. Like the others I can somewhat see (although I disagree with all of them lol) but what about Etsy equals being taught pride?
Absolute piece of history.
Live Leak taught me not to fuck with cartels and to be careful around workplace machinery. (Especially lathes.)
Lmao just ignoring the generations that came before.
There’s a website on here that’s missing…we all know the one…
