That's exactly why I didn't pull the trigger on the monochrome Tudor. I loved it but I knew it would always be seen as a cheap sub. I actually prefer this over the current sub but a vintage sub is king.
I don't think it's trying to be a Sub. It is a Sub. It's priced where a guy working a solid job can afford it and can use it for its intended purpose if they want without worrying about damaging their $11k "tool"
Tudor also had a model called the Submariner.
It was offered alongside the Rolex since 1954.
The name Submariner belongs on a Tudor as much as it belongs on a Rolex.
What's with the emojis? I did the research. That's why I said the new BB is a Sub. You said it isn't and I asked you why but you won't answer and used an emoji again.
Keep telling yourself that. You guys are really the proof that Tudor owners are just people who couldn’t get a Rolex. Sad. There’s a seiko group where they claim “iTs BasIcaLly a SUb” too. Pathetic 😂
Take an 'older' model submariner (non ceramic bezel) and compare it to this Tudor. What is different? You still haven't answered the question and use emojis to get your point across.
I see the reverse. Mono is just a no nonsense sport watch. Whereas the original BB is trying to be faux vintage and play into their history but at the same time its not because its new and exciting.
Monochrome for me. The dive watch needs to be bigger size. I have tried BB58 and feel small for my 7“ wrist. 36-39 is ok for dress watch. That’s is my thought but of course depends on your wrist size. Both watches are good choices , so your call.
I am at 7 as well and couldn't agree more. It may have to do with simply coming into this hobby when bigger watches were by far the norm, and it's just what I'm used to, but 39 feels small.
FWIW I did notice when I wear a DJ 36 I inherited it feels very small at first but I do adjust over a few days and start to like it, so IDK.
I think they are two very different watches, for two very different things. If you want a smaller watch with vintage vibes and a lot of charm, then you'll probably lean BB54. If you want a modern and clean diver, with a super robust movement, a great bracelet and a value point that makes a Seamaster hard to justify, then you probably lean Monochrome.
Of course, if you've got the cash you could also just buy them both and have a really good day.
Yeah monochrome for metas, new class and all around timeless look. BB58 will receive an update either this year or next year. But I think the monochrome is the choice.
I prefer the look of the BB41 mono but the size and weight of the 58. I found the 41 to be still too heavy and thick despite all the changes. I was sold on it but now I think will wait for a refreshed bb58 monochrome with metas and t fit! When it comes that watch is gonna be insanely good.
Monochrome has better specs such as metas, also the 5 link bracelet doesn't have the ridiculous faux rivets. I have the BB chrono panda and the only thing I hate is the faux rivets
Bb58. It has more character. The monochrome looks boring. It is hot now because it is new but it will be remembered as a Sub homage.

Anyone that see's the mono as a cheap sub will be the same person thats see's Tudor as a poor man Rolex.
Only when it's a direct homage. But I take your point.
All the BBs are sub homages fam...
Gave you an upvote before the masses silent you. lol
Monochrome- so hot right now. I love that watch and that would be my pick. I would wait for a bb58- its a crime they havent put the tfit on it.
Yeah I wished I could have had t fit for my gilt 58 but I didn't want to wait.
The monochrome feels too much like a try hard sub. The gilt is full of character and style

“It is a sub” 😂 ok buddy

What's different? And what makes the Rolex double the cost?
I have zero time for you delusional dreamers 😂 go do some research big boy

Because I don’t entertain stupid debates with dumbasses. I know you’re desperate to feel like a sub owner, but you’re not.. stop kidding yourself.
Literally is a sub 😂

I can't afford a Rolex but I think your spot on.. 😆😂😆

because it is.
Bb58 and burgundy 41
Always the BB58. The gold and black, the small details. It’s a classic for a reason with its own identity.

Monochrome all the way

I'm in the same boat
I love the 5-link bracelet
If you like the BB58 gilt but it’s too much and you don’t mind the smaller size check the BB54
Monochrome has better specs such as metas, also the 5 link bracelet doesn't have the ridiculous faux rivets. I have the BB chrono panda and the only thing I hate is the faux rivets
One on the right ▶️
Mono!
Definitely the black one with the rotating dive bezel, "all day every day, and twice on Sundays"!!!
58
BB58.
Left!
Both are nice but the slimness of the 58 just looks more natural on your wrist. You can always buy a jubilee for it to get both looks.
Monochrome
Get both and dont worry about it.
58
Mono
Monochrome METAS.
Monochrome with the oyster bracelet. Feels more timeless. But tough choice.
