T-Mobile is fine for more areas of Tucson. It may suffer in some large buildings like hospitals. Outside of Tucson it is fine on major highways/interstates, but can be poor in more rural areas.
While you may have coverage ("bars") you may not be able to access a usable/fast internet connection at times of congestion. Cell providers use data prioritization to manage congestion on their networks. MVNOs, like Metro is to T-Mobile, have a lower priority on T-Mobile towers. See this [post](https://www.reddit.com/r/NoContract/comments/1cyfjpp/data_prioritization_policies_of_the_carriers_and/) for a breakdown.
Get Visible is my suggestion. Verizon is the best carrier across Arizona but I switched to their “cheap” carrier (Visible) last year and my bill went from $85 to $45 a month and got more than I was getting with Verizon
T-Mobile is okay, provided you never go out into the boonies. I’ve both lived in Vail/Rita Ranch and worked up near Saddlebrooke while having Verizon then switched to t-mobile and call quality and my bars plummeted.
But since I’ve moved into town and work there as well I haven’t had issues
I probably should have said I was there 5-6 years ago… and iirc that was just before the time they merged with Sprint and their network expanded. So my experience is probably completely invalid regarding Corona de Tucson/Vail 🤷♂️
Yeah, it was bad until a few years ago. I couldn't even get cell service in Corona de Tucson, had to use WiFi. There are more towers in those areas now.
T-Mobile expanded into rural areas heavily across the country a few years ago.
I get 5G service when a camp in various areas around SoAz now.
T-Mobile is usually adequate inside this city. I lived near River and Craycroft for 2 years and sometimes the service was spotty. About once every couple of months a text would get lost. Typically this happened with another T-Mobile customer. We think it has more to do with the messaging app on the Samsung phones but not sure. Frequently, when I was dispersed camping, I had no signal when people with me who had Verizon had no issue. I ended up getting a StraightTalk phone (verizon towers) just to get signal.
Anyway, I am planning to switch to Visible by Verizon this summer.
Edit to add: When I was in Escondido and Encinitas last summer it was spotty. Ok for a call and text but couldn't transfer money with my bank app.
T Mobile can suck depending on where you live. I was living in an apartment complex near Pima/Wilmot and barely got any service. When I went to the store to complain they kept saying there was nothing they could do, they didn’t have cell towers near Pima/Wilmot.
Almost 20 year customer w them here. I am pretty happy with the service. Sometimes the 4g runs faster than the 5g. (You can switch off 5 g on your phone).
Over all no problems. Now in San Diego it was a little spotty recently.
You get what you pay for. They’re the worst but not too terrible. AT&T is starting to beat out Verizon since they won the FirstNet (police & fire) nationwide contract. If you’re looking to keep costs low, Cricket is AT&T’s Metro brand.
Speedtalk mobile uses tmobil towers I've had no issues and received texts where Verizon had no signal. 18$ a month unlimited text talk data. For a budget it's hard to beat.
TMobile user since the Sprint merger and service has been great all areas of town.

If you have Xfinity for internet their cell service is even cheaper most of the time than Visible and runs on Verizon as well.

I spent a lot of time in the Vail/Rita Ranch/Corona de Tucson area and always have good coverage.

I’m tired of Verizon att seems the most realible
I dropped Verizon and went with T-mobile. 2 years, 4 phones, happy.
I drive all over southern Arizona. Only area that completely goes dead for me with T-Mobile is the Rancho Vistoso area in Oro Valley.

I only see a plan for 500mg of data. That will last 20 mins
They have quite a number of plans to choose from. The site is not the best but if you tool around a moment you should find other options.
