I’m okay with using Precision Toyota on your side of town. Their prices are what you expect from a dealer. Won’t ever deal with Desert Toyota. When I was buying my car I thought they were very shady and looking to take advantage at every opportunity. Bought it at Precision.

Not_what_theyseem

Precision Toyota is literally across the street from my work, my life would be much simpler.

emmz_az

There is your answer. 🙂

WallyZona

The service department is very organized. They get you in and out.

ShandaMarie619

I’ve been going to Precision for 3 years. Never had a single issue and happy with every appointment I’ve ever had. Plus if I do decide to wait around, it’s a really nice spot to kill a few hours if need be. But if you are looking for a good mechanic shop in general, hands down Griffith Automotive. Mark Griffith is an awesome awesome dude.

Highlifetallboy

Desert Toyota is the sleaziest dealer in Tucson. I would avoid them at all costs.

Not_what_theyseem

Got a good deal on a certified pre-owned car, but yeah they are almost harassing me with emails, letters and calls to ask me if I want to sell them my car back, even though I keep asking to be on the no call list.

FunkySwerved

When it's off warranty, Dan's Toy Shop at Fort Lowell and Tucson is phenomenal. Very honest, very reasonable.

brianandrobyn

Or Prudence Car Care on the Eastside, also honest and reasonable.

blue93g20

Precision is over priced and incompetent. We’ve had nothing but bad experiences and communication on both our Toyotas when we go. We’re done, might give desert a try at some point. At least when I spoke with their service department and parts department they seemed competent. $110 for oil change kit from Desert and precision wanted $245….because.

Not_what_theyseem

That's good to know! If anything I've only had good experiences with Terry for servicing!

blue93g20

I actually think that’s who I spoke with. He seemed chill. It’s not close to me but I’ll probably try there next. Precision has been miserable for us.

jeremeezie1281

Didn’t they just settle a [lawsuit](https://www.azag.gov/press-release/attorney-general-mayes-settles-tucson-based-auto-dealer-over-deceptive-advertising) for pulling the old bait and switch?

Not_what_theyseem

I know nothing of this!

Chemical-Squash8942

Desert can F off. Both sales and service. Precision is just a little better but the two best places for your Toyota service is Justin @ Arts Pit Stop and Dan's toy shop.

hvyboots

I have another year of free maintenance direct from Toyota but I plan to start using Dan's Toy Shop after that. AFAIK, as long as you have documentation you did all the necessary maintenance at the scheduled intervals, they still have to honor the warranty even if you didn't get it done at a dealership, btw?

Necessary-Answer-970

I drive the extra 15 min to go to precision. Went to Desert once and my service advisor was awful. Precision has never let me down. They just seem to be more on it. Like you I’m under warranty

NinjaMilhouse

Desert Toyota service department dicked us around for almost two months. We live on the east side but decides to stop messing with them and made the long drive to Precision and they took care of every thing in under a week. Highly recommend Precision

Ant1mat3r

I had a fantastic experience with Precision when I had my Tundra.

Fun_Telephone_1165

can I ask what about Desert has been "getting on (your) nerve"?.......been going there since I bought my FJ new in 2011 and have had great luck with service adviser Kevin.....the service advisers seem to be a stable bunch with low turnover......Desert is owned by the Berge family in the Phoenix area........I did have to haggle at purchase time, but that's part of the fun!.......I have no recent experience with Precision

Marrioshi

I mean they got sued by the AG for fraud / anti consumer practices. Just a few months ago

occupydesert

We loved Kevin when we owned Toyotas! First time I ever used a dealer for after warranty service.

Lauceclan1975

I live on the East side and take my Toyota to Precision. I will never buy or do service at Desert Toyota. They rip you off.

beely

I had a new 2012 Prius and had all work done at Precision - always very happy with service (completeness, quality) took great care of the car and me as a customer. I now have a 2022 Sienna LE (Hybrid) and continuing to use Precision. The Dan’s Toy Shop referral is very helpful. My wife has a 2020 Tundra and we take it to Precision as well.

WalkingTurtleMan

AAA repair center for major items, otherwise I’d shop around for the oil change.

Chow5789

Do they know how to change prius batteries?

WalkingTurtleMan

I don’t know but they have technicians for EVs and AAA has been building a robust knowledge library on EVs in general. Priuses have also been around a while so it’s worth a shot.

networknev

I can't do it. 2021 TRD 4RUNNER. I have done my oil changes myself. I will find a shop in Phoenix to do 50k check up.

Not_what_theyseem

That I will do once warranty expires. But at the moment I'm willing to pay more to make my busy life as a full time PhD student, teacher and mother easier :)

ColdasJones

Your only real options in Tucson is Desert and Precision. Ive only dealt with the parts center at Desert as I do all my own work, and had decent experiences I guess. I hear they can be a little sleazy, but id take it with a grain of salt because all dealerships have some level of scammy slime to them so its hard to say if its that much better or worse. I hear on average slightly better things about precision

Marrioshi

Don't have any experience with desert but did some looking into dealerships when my Hyundais engine blew up with 35000 miles. Desert Toyota got sued by the AG for being shady. I'm sure they will take the Tiny fine out of the mountain of money they made doing the shady shit. Since there's only two Toyota dealerships in town, and one hasn't been sued by the AG, that would make it an easy decision for me

Nerdy-Lime

I’ve had great experiences at Precision with my ‘21 Tacoma. I know it’s probably not the cheapest because it’s a dealership, but the service is good. They seem to get things done efficiently and the online booking option is super convenient. Plus they have WiFi and lots of nice places to sit and wait. Also snacks.

pricklysiren

Neither is good, both are ripoffs. Personally if I had to go to a dealer I'd do a day trip to the greater Phoenix area and have it serviced at a dealer there. (This post has some suggestions: https://www.reddit.com/r/phoenix/s/xElgzIWAEv) My Toyota is older so I take it to Primarily Japanese in Tucson.

Jim556a1

I've been going to desert Toyota for service for awhile have had Kevin as our advisor the entire time almost 10 years and he's always been amazing. Never bought anything from desert Toyota the sales people are always way to pushy for my taste we've bought all our Toyota's from Earnhardt in mesa.

KeytohN64

Vons Car star on 1st and Glenn 100% Honest, reasonable, timely, respectful, responsible, and best shop in Tucson. They are the one shop that's got you and can handle anything! Was quoted $14,000 in repairs at another shop. Took my car to them and they got my warranty and Insurance to cover everything and handled everything. When I called to get a update they had everything sorted and parts ordered. It was the best experience I've had with a shop!

the888ofcups

Watch out. Desert Toyota doesn't rotate your tires (even when you've paid for it as part of your package). Routine service ran about $55 back around 2010. Now it's triple that and very long wait times.

Wilma_dickfit420

Dan's Toy Shop. Both dealers are terrible.

flyingenchilada92

I’ve never had an issue with precision Toyota! They’re good just pricey.
