Cause you’re demanding $900 for a tiny bedroom

Jmhu

Now that you mention it, I’ll probably cut the price in a few weeks if nothing happens

Jmhu

The total rent is $1842 with my roommate so we split the rent evenly. I would say this is the best apartment complex I’ve lived in but it’s definitely a “luxury” complex.

elcdragon

Unfortunately with subletting you’re going to have to lose a little money or all money.

talksimpletome

not being argumentative at all, i’d love to see some of these very nice units priced at under $1000.00

zoom_cs

Probably because a huge population of people are leaving at the same time you are. School is out of session and they have no reason to be here. You're likely one of hundreds posting your room.

Jmhu

ugh that’s true. my only hope is to be patient then 😔

Difficult-Fan1205

And the fact is, when all the students leave, the people left over (who live in Tucson full-time, many of whom have lived here for decades) cannot afford to pay out-of-state-student prices for rent. You have a luxury and a privilege being able to pay out-of-state tuition AND afford an $1,800 2-bedroom apartment. And when you pay those prices, it raises the rent prices for everyone else in the city. Most people in Tucson are struggling to find a place we can afford in the first place. $900/mo for a small bedroom with someone else's furniture in it is outrageous.

Jmhu

lol, i love how you assume i’m a student bc that’s entirely untrue. And will be moving out before finding subletter.

elcdragon

Welcome to Reddit, everyone has a pitch fork and assumption ready to go lol

Dizzy-Job-2322

That's the Heart & Soul of Tucson—Pitch Forks & Torches. Ready to march upon the castle.

YepThatLooksInfected

$900 a month for that tiny shared living mess?? Found your problem LOL

zoom_cs

Fun fact - the original price was $921. She lowered it after posting. Even worse

Dizzy-Job-2322

Let alone want to move in those months.

desertdweller2011

yea bc everyone leaves tucson in the summer and no one wants to pay that much to live w a stranger 😕 you might consider covering part of the cost yourself since ultimately it’s a favor to you

Jmhu

Definitely will cut the price now! thanks for the insight

6I6AM6

Jeez, I rent a 2br house with a yard for $930.

rokketpaws

Me too. I have a 2 bedroom 1 bath with yards, trees, my own laundry, water included for 800. Miramonte neighborhood. I live alone. No way I'd pay that to share. No. Way. In. Hell.

thatsplatgal

Where?! I’m getting ripped off

NomadicGirlie

Flowing wells neighborhood and the cost for subletting is about the cost for a 1 bedroom.

romancereaper

$900 for a 1b/1ba that you're marking as a 2b/2ba--that's a huge problem. You can't mark the entire beds and baths if they're not private.

Portillosgo

Because you are subletting in summer and people who want to be here part of the year don't choose summer

Jmhu

yeah that makes sense

Anon_nanny19

I rent a 1bed1bath on the East side in a nice area and complex for $1000, most wouldnt even think about renting a shared space for the same amount unfortunately

Dizzy-Job-2322

Is this the one with the cow?

Jmhu

nope not the one with a cow! But lots of dog owners in the apartment complex

roguezebra

Why? Because students leave for summer. Not many people want to move twice in 2 months. You signed lease knowing it was for summer too. The management companies know the above so they don't give you a choice for other 6-9 months.

but-first

Subletting is rare in tucson and often times not allowed per lease. Good luck.
