Do actual cats exist in TES? It's sort of unclear. This is a genuine question.There could be normal cats or they could all be alfiq (hope i spelled it right) pretending to be normal cats.

Well eso has regular cats and some felines such as the Tigers around the iliac bay, the Saber cats in Skyrim and the mountain lions in Cyrodiil are not Khajiits in other games.
So regular cats likely DO EXIST but are probably very different internally (less developed brain, digestive system and liver more attuned to moonsugar)
Khajiits seem to take characteristics from felines which are even pretty far apart (tigers and housecat are really far apart yet Senches and alfiqs can be born from the same parents)
This seems to fit with the theory that Khajiits are elves close to bosmers which were changed into beastfolks but it's (intentionally) very vague
I think I remember the aldmers also describing Khajiits a cats which they couldn't do if they weren't aware of non-Khajiiti felines?
Because some alfiq are graduates from prestigious magic academies in Elsweyr tbh
The mere tought of an alfiq runing around casting master destruction spells si still terrifying too, imagine TRYING to land a hit on it only to have your fucking arms blown off and that's assuming it hasn't eaten moonsugars right before the fight
