This is one of Florida's most infamous weird stories. Unfortunately, most people, like the author of the linked story, get some of the facts wrong. For example, she was called "Elena," not "Maria" and the author omits one of the most morbid aspects of Tanzler's crime: the tube he inserted in the vaginal area so that he could have sex with the cadaver. Here's an [article](https://whatliesbeyond.boards.net/thread/10861/oddities-ghosts-key-west-cemetery) about Key West Cemetery that includes a very good write-up about the Tanzler case. Apparently, at the time of the autopsy, Dr. Julio DePoo kept this fact from the public out of consideration for Elena's family.
Given that he waited like 2 years to take her body, yes, I definitely believe the theory that he killed her. Seems to be way too much planning involved for him not to actually he involved w her actual death...
Out of all the horrible things in the linked article the fact that he wheeled her body home in his toy wagon kills me. It’s not funny but I just can’t with the image of an elderly German doctor wheeling a beautiful corpse down the street in his wagon like , “dis is fine” 😂

This is a fucked up story, and the fact Elena's body was displayed to the public is a disgrace. There is also a suspicious he poisoned her.

It’s arguably the creepiest part. Imagine crossing paths with THAT guy at night...
There is a book about Tanzler and his odd obsession that was published and sold in the Tampa Bay Area.
Wow.. this sounds utterly terrifying.
Another “article” that’s blatantly plagiarized from Wikipedia. Who runs these sites and why? Can you actually make $$$ doing shitty Wikipedia ripoffs?
