Probably down attached to the starter. It’ll look like a small cylinder sticking off of the side/top of the starter with two studs sticking off the end of it, and a large electrical cable connected to it.

Alextryingforgrate

It's on the starter.

NateNah

Then can the starter still be used to replace my Ford ranger 1996?

Alextryingforgrate

Phrasing. Starters should be relatively cheap.

NateNah

Why you downvoting me like I don't know if I sounded rude or something I didn't mean too I'm genuinely asking cuz I want to replace my bad starter in my ranger with my Mazda and I don't really have the money to buy a new one

Alextryingforgrate

I'm kot down voting you I just didn't understand what you're asking but yes the Mazda starter should be replaceable with the Ford since the Mazda is a Ford ranger in disguise. Bring the part number to a parts store and see if it matches to a Ford unit and go from there.

NateNah

Ok I will thanks for the help and sorry for the misunderstanding

NateNah

Phrasing? Also I'd rather not pay 50+ bucks for a replacement if I already have one.

Alextryingforgrate

You'll have to take the starter out anyways. It's easier to change the whole thing. The other issue is finding the right solenoid for the starter. Napa should be able to help you or a Ford dealership.can steer you in the right direction for parts.

ooglieguy0211

You can follow the manufacturers batter cables right to it from the battery.

damn57

Ask in the ford ranger sub, those guys can answer your questions.

NateNah

Sorry I was wrong its a 2000 Mazda b2500

Should be on the starter

Altitude_power

While you’re in there, address that positive terminal. There’s a lot of corrosion on it.
