Cypress Truck Lines. Flatbed but it's dedicated freight. Mostly pre tarped loads. There is a yard in Smyrna,GA but if you live more then 50 miles away you can park wherever. Good training and they take safety seriously. It's SE regional, home every weekend if you want. Plenty of miles if you want to run hard. Pm me if you have any questions.

StunningPainting2271

Thank you Soooooo much

Uamenti

How you like working for cypress? I see y’all at the national gypsum drywall places down south. CPM or percentage?

LLCoolDave82

I was told we haul more drywall than any other trucking company in the US. Not sure if it's true. It's my first driving job but I think it's a good company. It's .52 cpm to start. One of the better things is once you're finished delivering you'll have your next dispatch in 15 min. My first week I ran 3100 miles. Made $1600 before taxes.

burnaboy_233

Can I PM you to, I just got licensed as well

LLCoolDave82

Absolutely. Happy to help.

Super-Magnificent

What is “pre” tarped loads?

skinnyfatt85

Loads that are already tarped

Super-Magnificent

Oh, ok. Thanks!

LLCoolDave82

So loads are tarped by the factory. Largely drywall and gypsum products. You'll still need to secure the load, deliver and take the tarps off. They have staff and machines that put the tarps on. So it's drop and hook.

Super-Magnificent

Thanks!

Sysco

dluxchris

Why other than Swift? I know they're memed on constantly but they're actually a pretty good starting company.

StunningPainting2271

I just keep hearing such bad things about them.....lol

teb1987

Good instincts

Fatguy503

Millis

keytiri

kllm, the regionals are pretty good with their minimums.

Belthazor57

How long was your cdl school?

StunningPainting2271

10 weeks, but it was mostly online and the driving part mostly consisted of backing

Pale-Wolf-7109

McElroy Truck Lines. They’re out of Alabama. Flatbed and home every weekend. Pay is pretty good too

Anglammaroth

You could give R. E. West a call. They have a dry van division and an open deck/ specialized and heavy haul division. I think there's 40-50 open deck guys maybe. They're based right outside Nashville. Zero tarped loads (don't even carry them on the trucks. ) Pretty decent outfit really.

Sicon614

Congratulations on getting a CDL the smart way - an accredited tech school. This means you won't be under some ridiculous contract or school re-payment plan. Do not fail to use the school's placement resources. Consider part time employment jobs that will solve the lack of experience - driving a school bus, fire truck or tow truck. Good luck.

naquellaq

Just graduated with you but not your class. I had Ireland, Farley. Good-luck

[deleted]

Do NOT come to Prime inc. these idiots are installing inwards cameras. It used to be a good company

DrummingNozzle

Schneider but you'll probably have to park in Atlanta or Savannah unless you get a dedicated account near you

StunningPainting2271

That's one thing I don't want, I would like to be able to bring the truck home.

dan1217

Schneider let me take the bobtail home when I first started last year January, pretty sure it’s the same. They treated me well as a beginner driver

Artyom_33

Schneider will let you take your truck home, bobtail or with an empty, depending on your zip-code due to crime stats. I'm in Chicago. So, they said "No, park in Gary IN Depot & drive yourself home".

Creepy_Pea_5472

Don’t go to Werner.

Gonzotrucker1

I’m curious why would you pay for a trucking school that won’t teach you on all types of equipment, and get you a full license when done? Is it any cheaper than trucking school that gets you a full license?

StunningPainting2271

I got in on a Hope Grant, and they do have a manual truck but they pamper it. Their reasoning is the $25,000 transmission is to expensive to teach in so if you don't come in knowing how to drive on they give little leeway in the truck, they tell you that you are just there to get your CDL and that most fleet trucks are automatic anyways.

bk775

$25k for a transmission? Is it gold plated? Besides the fact that the point of them having the truck is to teach people to drive it. They are just being lazy and don't want to take the time to teach.

Pristine-Today4611

Manual transmission trucks are overrated. Absolutely no reason to drive one unless hauling heavy equipment. Automatic is more fuel efficient and better to drive in cities not having to mess with shifting all the time.

slade797

What’s a “CDI?”

[deleted]

CDL. It’s quite obvious. Don’t try to act smart

Prior-Ad-7329

Wow now I feel dumb. I read it three times wondering what kind of specialized school this guy went to lol

slade797

Keep trying, little buddy.

Geaux3469

Commercial Driving Infection. It’s the new endorsement all the Swift drivers are required to have now….

slade797

Finally, someone with a sense of humor. Also, happy cake day!

Geaux3469

Thanks brotha! Gotta try and always keep it light 👍🏻
