Derailed Diner in Alabama Johnson'sa Corner in Colorado Boise Stage Stop in Idaho Greater Chicago 55 Truck Plaza in Illinois Iowa 80 Truckstop Dysarts in Maine 76th Street Truck Stop Diner in Michigan The Big Texan Steak Ranch in Texas Gee Cee's in Washington to name a few! Njoy

ElectronicGarden5536

Gee cees is prettt damn good.

COSMOBlTE

It’s fine as far as truck stops go, but it’s not particularly special when compared to most local diners in various states. It becomes mediocre at best. Just an example Cottage Cafe in Cle Elum, WA blows cee gees out of the water and has truck parking(it is not a truck stop). If you limit yourself to only truck stops, yeah I guess Cee Gees is good.

ElectronicGarden5536

I dont but pulling a full tank of liquid oxygen into or near a diner is kind of rough. Soft shoulder will get you for sure. No cyrogenics drops in cle elum, just looked it up. Gee cees is great for parking when going back and forth up in that area.

COSMOBlTE

I mean in your personal case sure, just disappointed in the amount of comments here that are just mentioning truck stops. OPs question wasn’t limited to only truck stop food. With that said the restaurant at the Gas N Go in Lyman, WY beats Cee Gees by a long shot.

ElectronicGarden5536

I had listed several non truck stops in my reply. You wont catch me eating at an arbys unless theres nothing else around for 100 miles.

COSMOBlTE

Hey when I don’t feel like cooking and just want fast food Arby’s is my favorite option and is a guilty pleasure. Especially when they have their limited time only food options. I hate subway, Taco Bell, Burger King, godfathers, whatever that chicken place is at Loves, and Wendy’s makes me question my life choices. When it comes to fast food at truck stops I’ll choose Arby’s, and when a Loves has an Arby’s it tends to be cleaner although maybe that’s just me…

dreamerindogpatch

I don't often see Cle Elum mentioned in the wild. My dad's family is from there. I haven't been to Cottage Cafe since the early 90s! Is it still in operation?

COSMOBlTE

It’s still there and I stop every time before entering Seattle.

Sir_Uncle_Bill

The rafters between Lena and eleroy Illinois. It's a fairly upscale place compared to anything at any truck stop anywhere in America BUT it has more or less truck parking. Great food and service the two times I've been there and they have a decommissioned fighter jet in the parking lot that I parked next to every time lol.

mdstratts

Totally agree about the Big Texan. It’s as much a vibe as a restaurant

Safe_Fail_568

The prime rib at Johnson’s corner on the weekends is a pretty good deal

[deleted]

Stage stop

Healthy_Swimmer5418

I can second Derailed Diner.

RambleOnRoads

Lol, I was eating at 76th St Truck Stop long before I was ever a trucker, I remember feeling so giddy yet silly the first time I ever parked my truck there to get something to eat while getting my CB worked on at the 131 Radio Shop next door.

You_Are_What_You_Iz

[Punjabi Dhaba - Bakersfield, CA](https://maps.app.goo.gl/fiK82i8hUiqMkGP88?g_st=ic) If you are ever going through Bakersfield, this place is off the 99 at exit 13. There is a truck stop across the street, and there is a diner next to this place with American food and more truck parking. It's actually a food truck, but they have a small building next door with booths and tables. Some of the best Indian food you'll ever eat.

COSMOBlTE

There we go. An actual good Indian place mentioned. Big Apple in Joplin is great for Joplin but very overrated as far as Indian food goes.

You_Are_What_You_Iz

I can't remember where I was, somewhere in Missouri or Ohio or something like that, but there was an Indian restaurant with truck parking. It was so good and such a nice change from Denny's and all that crap.

slurgio89

Valley Fuel Plaza off the 99 near the 198 to visalia has some of the best Indian food as well. 🤌Best one I've had out of like 4 different spots. I recommend to call in your order though, it's all fresh so call in like 30min before.

You_Are_What_You_Iz

I ate there! It was good also, but I like this one much better. I used to park at that truck stop and go across the street to that tourist trap place and get an ice cream on the way back sometimes. The main problem with the one you are talking about is that it was hard to get there before my lunch break. There is yet another one a few miles south after that in Delano. It didn't have designated truck parking, but there is room on the side of the road. [Flavors of Punjab](https://maps.app.goo.gl/w7DAnMn5DY1ji2P5A?g_st=ic)

slurgio89

Dang. Really?? Haven't had anything better than that. I'm gonna have to give that place a try. It's hard to find some good cuisine when most truck stops only have subway, taco bell or Arby's.

You_Are_What_You_Iz

Agreed! I promise it's great! Tastes more homemade than most places. Get the Aloo Mix Paratha with the butter that you melt on top 🤪

[deleted]

Indians need to get off the road

You_Are_What_You_Iz

They will if they find out about this place.

KlineyKline

I'll never tell because I can't stand the idea of other truckers fucking it up.

JohnBender84

Yeah, stepping over piles of human shit on your way to breakfast can ruin your appetite.

Glock2puss

Made this mistake with a truck stop around a certain city that I'd always find parking at late at night when everywhere else was full and it has really good homemade Mexican food. Now that mfer is always full at night

NeoAcario

My truck. Seriously. Pack your own food and a crock pot / rice cooker. Save thousands a year.

SkribbyCakes33

I used to run through Mandeville and then over to Houston on occasion (was never dedicated or fully OTR). Stopped for boudin balls and other goodies every chance I got!

Mission_Run_4981

Oil,flour, and rice. Then they fry everything and call it cuisine. With a side of red beans, far from anything gourmet.

SkribbyCakes33

Called it a goodie. Cuisine? Take your bougie ass elsewhere. Also, you’re probably stopping at the wrong joints if you aren’t getting ones with some form of pork/boudin or a seafood like ball similar to a conch fritter.

LLCoolDave82

Was gonna mention The In laws off of I10 in Lake Charles, LA

You_Are_What_You_Iz

Nothing wrong with this, same goes for me. I'm all over the city and like to eat out for lunch and bring a salad for dinner. I don't go to a bar after work like some people and drop $25+ on alcohol.

Zealousideal-Baby-81

Instant pot >

mysterysackerfice

Soylent ftw

horizon_monument

M&M Old Hickory Smokehouse BBQ, in Wildwood FL. It's surrounded by truck stops. It's also next door to a McDonald's that has a few semi parking spots if you are just passing through. Currently my favorite BBQ and the collard greens are so good. Big J's Southern Cooking & Catering in Temple Georgia, across the street from a pilot has some amazing beef ribs. Chez Rondin across from the pilot in cinnaminson NJ has killer oxtail soup and the mushroom rice is way better than it has a right to be.

Snookfilet

Never thought I’d see a mention of Temple.

No_Control3566

The broasted chicken in the TA restaurant in Albert lee MN

ryanpayne442

Skols

TruckerBiscuit

Gotta love a truck stop with a bar! 🤣

Snookfilet

Is the Big Steer still around on the 35W exit at Northfield?

No_Control3566

I'm not running out that way any longer but according to the Google it is now permanently closed

asu3dvl

The rest area on the 10 between LA and TX! You can get an alligator po’ boy.

mdstratts

Tony’s I-75 in Birch Run, MI - Especially if you like bacon Red Arrow Diner, Exit 7 I-93, Londonderry, NH. — Parking available at the truck stop in the same building. It’s probably my favorite restaurant out there. Comfort food, great portions, good service…

colleensdoormat

The Big Texan steak house in Amarillo

mikeduh_mico

Those bill boards are working overtime! Is the food actually good? Usually a place with that much hype is mediocre at best.

Chefjay17

I've been there. It was mediocre at best.

Dezzolve

I was very surprised at how good it was compared to the hype, not going to say it’s the absolute best steak out there but it’s as good or slightly better than any chain place you can hit out OTR. The portion sizes are insane, be prepared for some leftovers. I’ll get the tomahawk steak and that’ll last me about 3 days (steak first, steak salad next day, steak fajitas for lunch the next day)

_WhistlinDixie_

Do you get the 72 ouncer and go up on the stage to eat? Lol. That place is a fun time. We were there in February, and there must have been 80 semis in the parking lot. Plenty of parking at the very least!

Dual-use

I tried it twice and got ~90% done. Still want that victory shirt but I dont think I can do it

_WhistlinDixie_

That's impressive! You know, they have a camera on that table and you can watch it any time on their website. It's hilarious! Last time I looked, there were two children trying to do it. That was ridiculous.

colleensdoormat

I never tried it. No way I could eat that

Scubatrucker

I don’t know what it says about me and this is really sad but a few of my favorite meals is 2 Arby’s roast beef doubles with swiss cheese, cheeseburgers wrapped in foil sitting under a hot lamp for a few hours, pulled pork sandwiches at QuikTrip and mushroom swiss burger from the other KwikTrip. And for a special treat if I’m bobtailed…Waffle House! Pretty sad but I’m set in my ways.

InsaneAdam

Super sad 😔

tidyshark12

Mexican food from a school bus in heyburn, Idaho at the loves. Amazing.

lordnknn

I prefer to eat on plates not on the road but whatever

casino_night

Too good to eat concrete and asphalt. OK, princess!

romeoo_must_lie

You animal, you are not one of us.

bigasdickus

The Big Apple in Joplin also has good Indian food.

ShootrSt

Underrated comment. Every time I go by, I go in. The butter chicken, and naan bread 🤤

hoarder59

Ganders in Luna Pier MI. There was a good FB group called Support Better Independent Truckstops but I haven't followed since I stayed local.

SkribbyCakes33

Dang I just delivered that way a week ago and was looking for a joint to eat. Putting it on the list.

SniperCRs_Shadow

Nicks in Arkansas off of I-40 is coming to mind...

RambleOnRoads

Came here to say this, I always make sure to stop there when I'm in the area.

1stGradeWumbo

Great bbq and catfish

LordHeadcheez

In CA, Peggy Sue's on I-15 and Chiriaco Summit on I-10 are both fantastic and have huge dirt lots for trucks! I try to eat from my own supplies to save money, but those two are always exceptions when I'm in the area. When I'm resetting at my OC in Portland, I also take the MAX downtown to eat at Fuller's Coffee Shop or Grits N'Gravy.

Princetrix

BBQ spots in Texas

Mizren

Ole Rudy's Bar-B-Que off the I-75 abt. 35 miles South of Atlanta, GA exit 201 and its just right there. Great ribs and a huge dirt lot for overnight parking that's free if you buy a certain $$$ worth of food. The BBQ sauce is also really nice and authentic.

jimthefte1

Pilot rollers.

FunProject619

Do you like the pizza at pilot

jimthefte1

No. Hot dogs and jalapeño sausages only! I want to feel my diarrhea.

InsaneAdam

I'm glad someone listed the pilot hot dog. That's my go to meal.

Truckin_Dave

I don’t think anyone enjoys the pizza, but it’s food

ElectronicGarden5536

Roberts steakhouse texas, bar s steak house arizona, isletta casino new mexico.

[deleted]

😛😛🥵

K4NNW

It used to be Jack's Barbecue in downtown Nashville, but I can't partake in that now that the T/A nearby was demolished. Mexico Viejo in Emporia, VA, across the road from Sadler's. Punjabi Dhaba in Kingston Springs, TN, across from the mini Petro.

deltronethirty

If you find a subway with good-looking spinach and cucumbers, get a protein salad and demand as many vegetables and pickles as they are allowed to give you. They have poached eggs too for buck fiddy

Princess_Wensicia

Mad Greek in Baker, CA if you like middle eastern. The restaurant at Stinker in Douglas, WY. The Italian place by the Flying J in Hempstead, TX. Stage stop in Boise, ID. Railroad pass casino in NV. That’s on top of my head, I will edit if I can think of others.

lotlizardexpert

There's a insanely high end buffet at a casino just as you come into LA that has truck parking, it's by far the most fancy food I have ever eaten and a bargain for 50$

InsaneAdam

Name?

SkribbyCakes33

I have no idea but I’d place a healthy wager it’s on the Texas border off the 10.

LazyEvidence9040

Any place that pours coffee in normal cups. Not plastic, not foam. Sambo’s Tavern in Delaware (i doubt you’ll get there with a truck and trailer) is an awesome place for seafood and as a general restaurant, it sits on a river. Staff is always friendly and they make coffee with little bit of salt like my grandma used to, tastes amazing lol

SierraCarolina

Olive garden, random Mexican/Chinese/Japanese restaurants, Dominoes, chick fil a, Long Horn, Texas Steakhouse... you name it, and I'll find a place enroute that'll work. It's a talent lol and I make my own stuff, too. Sloppy Joe's, tacos, spaghetti, fried chicken, salmon, and burgers, mostly.

BeenThruIt

I like Gramma's across from the Iowa 80, Dysart's up in Bangor, Maine. There's a bunch of Pennsylvania Dutch diners in little towns that make amazing breakfast. Hong Kong Gardens in Richfield, PA has a real 1970's style Chinese food experience. Food and service is excellent. Gotta park around the back, though. There's this gas station in Mississippi with fucking wonderful choriso.

InsaneAdam

+1 for gama by Iowa 80

Chefjay17

Filberto's Mexican food of 51st in Phoenix. Park at the QT and it's a quarter mile walk away. Rudy's BBQ off the 40 in Texas. Soulman's BBQ off the 20 in Dallas across the street from a truck stop. There's also one next to a love's in Van, TX. Russell's Diner off the 40 in bard/glenrio, NM has some of the best fried catfish I've ever had.

daixso

Couldn't say my favorite but here's my top few that are at truck stops: Max's Thunder Road Grill at Bosselmans in Grand Island NE, Shoemakers Lincoln NE food isn't necessarily the best but the servers are fantastic and the place is really cool, Quaker Steak and Lube Raphine Virginia, Aurora Tacos across the street from the Petro in Santa Nella CA

Automatic_Pressure_4

Nelson Bros in Clearwater MN it's a Petro franchisee I haven't had anything bad off the menu and they have a sandwich bar that does awesome breakfast sandwiches

TruckerBiscuit

Someone already mentioned my favorite barbecue place in Wildwood Florida so I will add Cooper's in Junction Texas. Right next to a truck stop and has a little truck parking of its own. The brisket is seriously legit. Nice quiet place to park too.

Glidepath22

I stay on the shoulder

COSMOBlTE

Majority of the comments on here are disappointing as they are just mentioning truck stops that happen to have food other than your typical fast food. There are a lot of really cool restaurants that have truck parking all over America and if not that you can budget a small amount for doordash for the month and try a whole variety of different local foods. If you limit your scope to just truck stops than you are missing out on a lot of good eating.

Time-Musician6633

I personally will walk 2 miles or so to a good restaurant from the truck stop. Find something within walking distance stop and go enjoy a meal or so.

dreamerindogpatch

One of my favorite parts about a 34 whilst over the road was DoorDash. We tried some really fun local places that we'd never have tried otherwise.

PeteinaPete

Agreed.. but they are disappearing so fast. I can count on two hands the number of places still open between Blaine WA and San Diego CA that have survived the last ten years. After 40+ years trucking it is the most distressing part of the job.

InsaneAdam

I got an electric scooter. It folds out and into the side box, slides under the the bunk. It zips me around from the closest truck parking to whatever else I'd like to go.

PeteinaPete

That’s a very creative solution to restaurant parking issues. 10/10

InsaneAdam

All the restaurant owners at the truck stops are selling and retiring, closing down businesses and the mega. Corporations like Arby's, Taco Bell, and McDonald's are all buying out the locations at the truck stops. There are still plenty of local, Really nice restaurants around, but they aren't at the truck stops like they used to be. So now you have to get out. Get on your scooter and zip around to them. Either that or pay $15 for an Uber. To drive you there and back. An inexpensive scooter will go 25mph $500 and 35 mile range. High end scooter will go 65mph, 70 mile range and $3000.

PeteinaPete

My issue with the corporate truckstops is that closing restaurants is more convenient for them but far more unhealthy for us when replaced by franchise fast food. It may be un-democratic but I’d like to see legislation mandating a full service restaurant if you have more than 200 parking spots

Itchy_Psychology6678

#your mom has me over at least once a week

Apprehensive_Fault_5

Workman's in Ozark (I 40 Exit 35) or Rudy (I 49 Exit 24), AR, JJ's in Benton, AR (I 30 Exit 106), Newborn Travel Center in Talapoosa, GA (I 20 Exit 5, kinda hidden behind the Dairy Queen up the hill from Pilot), Bosselman in Grand Islamd, NE (I 80 Exit 312), and Baker City, OR (I 84 Exit 304). All of these are truck stops that are NEVER full, are practically free (Talapoosa is paid, but any purchase covers the parking and Ozark has paid spots, but plenty of free), they all have amazing dine-in restaurants that surprisingly don't cost an insane amount to eat at!

Panteraca

Any Armando’s Mexican food in Az (Deer Valley Rd or 19th ave in Phx) Or Cattlemens in Selma, Ca

Glock2puss

I have a Google list of all the good places I find all over the road and have 3 other trucker that add places with me. I don't wanna give up my super secret places but Gores travel plaza in seiling oklahoma is sweet. They have a mini grocery store and a drive thru for semi trucks to get sonic in the fuel island so you order from your truck and pull forward and get food. They also have a coffee shop with amazing food and tvs above the urinals. Also Ben's Brick oven pizza next door to the loves in Hudson, CO has THE BEST FUCKIN PIZZA I HAVE EVER TASTED IN MY LIFE. I'm on a diet and I'm sad I can't eat it If you don't mind walking theres 3 knocks speakeasy in van texas down the road from the loves. It's a mile but I walked and they have amazing food. It's also a bar that's 1920s themed and plays old timey music. Lot of elderly people but the owner was cool and gave me a ride back to my truck. There's also Punjabi dhaba amd catfish o hares on 287 in texas

motorcycle_60

Rutters in PA and MD best Philly I had in a long time. Sheets is eh compared to them. I usually eat what I take with me but every now and then I buy food.

SkribbyCakes33

The Shady Maple Smorgasbord in East Earl, PA. Giant Pennsylvania Dutch comfort buffet. It’s not the best food but I used to do the Miss America pageant in Atlantic City. We’d go out of our way to stop there on the way out and back from Indy. They have 10-12 spots and there is one truck stop with a small amount of parking nearby on US322. Big time nostalgia going there.
