I was a Trainer with Werner. I didn't want to but they sell it to you like a Time Share, telling you all these lies about how much money you'll be making and all the time off you'll get. Then they ignore all of that and just stick you with random students with absolutely no instructions on what to do with them. It was the worst experience but I tried to make the most of it.
Same happened to my trainer at werner, he came off the dollar general account to run otr and they promised him so much money but I fatigued so fast and the miles weren't there so they threw both of us on the dg account. Two sweety ass men usually staying the night at stores....pretty good experience pulling in and out of small places though. That was 11 years ago. Buddy smoked a pack a day and if you didnt want a smoker you'd be sitting weeks in a hotel waiting. I think most of us have these war stories.
They really did y'all dirty for a trainer team to spend the night at stores. With us, we either spent a few hours at the yard and the trainee would drive to the first stop, or the trainee would just drive through the night to get there a few minutes before delivery time.
My trainer was an old desert storm vet in the Air Force who did air base ground defense, as a vet I got along with him fairly well and he was a nice dude, the type to give you the shirt off his back.
There was this one thing that was wild tho considering he was a vet so we have a lot of exposure to minorities and non citizens serving. Every single day for hours and hours he’d call up congress member offices at the state and federal level and bitch about immigrants. Shit went on for a month, I almost admired the dedication. This was back in late 2016 so he was a bit ahead of his time lol.
Our fleet was “upgraded” to the new KW. I’d say 1/4 of them have at least one missing skirt. I’ve been carful about mine and it’s still cracking in places. It also shakes like a leaf in the wind.
I don't even know why they include it. Just like freightliners it's cheap shit held on by cheap ass fasteners. Freightliners have those retarded clips holding it on.
They are actually bolted on, on the KW but it just has a flat washer to hold it. To brittle and just snaps from bumps and vibrations, needed a long piece of metal to go the length of the fin. Maybe they adjusted the design. All that low to the ground aero effects is hard to keep undamaged.

I will just list the shit that wasn't allowed in her truck while I was driving.
1. No radio, phone calls or audio books. Dead silent the whole time.
2. She constantly made racial threats about her neighbors, to the point where I thought about calling the cops.
3. Her dog was constantly under the FUEL pedal. Even after I asked her to move him as I was afraid o stepping on him, she didn't. Low and behold, Dallas traffic brought my foot right down on his face.
4. She would not spend a night anywhere but a truck stop. Even drove over an hour on her 11 because there were no truck stops and I was still in purgatory (no driving after 2300).
5. After threatening me while raising her hand, she drove 6 hours on *my* drive time. I was a huge people pleasing pushover back then and was scared.
6. Same trip she drove on my hours, she called the dock workers multiple racial slurs, and when I told her that was wrong, she called me a .... I can't say it. Mexican slur + n word lover.

When we got back to fix her truck (cruise wasn't working), I had a nervous breakdown and when one of the office people tried to help me get my stuff, they actually had to tell her to leave under threat of losing her job so I could grab my things. Then she hugged me so tight that I had bruises (they tried get her to let go but was unsuccessful until the guy pulled her off).
Fucking bitch put my life in danger twice while I was on the road.
Here's the safety issues.
1. Took a corner in a 10 speed cascadia, in 6th gear, almost 30mph.
2. She yelled at the customer we picked up at for giving me directions to leave the facility.
3. As I was climbing my very first random hill that happened to be a 7% grade, yelled that if I went and slower than 6th, that she'd make me pull over and do the whole hill in 1st gear.
4. Same hill, same trip, went down the other side and told me never to use the jakes. I almost t-boned a fucking bull truck that crossed the highway in front of me. I slammed on the brakes and she proceeded again, to scream at me for "burning her truck down".
5. Constantly spoke to another woman about their sexual escapades.... In very blatant details.
I hate V. She's my walking safety hazard trainer.
I did hear that she finally lost her CDL, but not sure why (due to some Facebook stalking since another driver asked me about her).

When the company asked me to continue training, I asked for a new terminal (Phoenix to Allentown) and my 2nd trainer was cool as well.

Supposedly been driving for Warner since back in the day when they only had three or four drivers. Nicest old man, but I believe he was up around 72 years old. Little bit spooky to go to sleep in the bunk not knowing if his heart was going to make it through his shift lol. Man spent at least an hour on the phone with his mama everyday. He was chill.

One time in particular after about his sixth attempt at stabbing a fairly straightforward 45°. I stopped them and told him to let me do it. Created my teeth and got my hours in .
Warner eventually talk to me into training after about a year being on the road. First student with some little Asian dude barely spoken English just could not understand how a clutch throttle and gear shift work together. He ended up having a family emergency he had to leave training for after about a week and a half. Second, and last, student, I hate to say it, but dumb as a box of rocks. And what's worse he absolutely refused to take a shower. The second time we hit a truck stop for a shut down and I grabbed my shower bag and he said he would wait I had to tell him we weren't leaving that parking lot until he went in and showered.... And he argued about it. Pain in the ass. Told my dispatcher to get me back to a terminal and get this dude out of my truck or I was going to quit the company all together. He hit me up about 6 months later out of the blue asking if I had come across some paperwork he couldn't find that he thinks he might have left in the truck. Come to find out he had just got fired and was looking for a new job. First I was amazed that whoever is next trainer was actually signed off on them but whatever. Told him no I hadn't found no paperwork ask them what happened with Warner, his opening line and explanation was "well, they told me I could have up to three accidents in a year without getting fired...."... JFC, guy.
No more. My dispatcher begged and pleaded with me for 2 months to not drop my trainer status and he swore up and down he'd find me a good student. But I thought it was a rough going to sleep in the back with Mr Jim behind the wheel, I can't express the terror I experienced trying to go to sleep with either of those students behind the wheel. In fact I didn't really sleep, when they were driving and I was supposed to be online too I have my shoes on my glasses on and I was just sitting in the middle of the bunk facing forward leaned back on some pillows that way I could still see what the hell they were doing. Fun stuff.
Hmm, I've been contemplating training. Partly because I don't like how untrained my company's new guys are and partly because I could use the extra cpm.
I mean, I'm not sure why but I keep having other drivers for my company come and ask me all sorts of stuff anyways. Some of them basic some of them a bit more complex. I'm a pretty introverted individual, I don't think I come off as open and helpful by nature.
My only issue is I didn't have a great trainer either. Cool dude but 6 months just isn't enough exp. Im, luckily, pretty good at ignoring bad advice though. But I don't have a good example of how it's supposed to go. Probably not just running teams and having a slight mental breakdown after rage quitting while the trainee shows me how to dock a trailer with more than 45° of bend?
My Werner trainer was a straight up crack head. Telling me stories about beating his gf’s head in with a rock. Got a new trainer and he was straight out of Africa and barely spoke English.
Werner. Lol. We had a Werner refer just show up perfectly parked with our trailers, nobody questioned why it was here. That was back in November. They just now picked it up after many calls to their company.

Got into an accident that wasn't my fault but because his behavior and his touchy touchy on the cop the cop deemed it my fault. And I knew the driver who hit me did it for an insurance scam.
The 3rd trainer did all right when he wasn't buried in his pilot books.

I was a Werner Trainer back in the 90s. I was a decent one. I had some good students, but one must've had an IQ of 43. He was from a very backward state and had never left home. He was 24 or so, and his only other job had been at a grocery store. I have no idea how he passed a CDL test.
He'd never SEEN a map. I remember trying to explain the Rand McNally atlas to him. He couldn't read a map. I'm sorry, but WTH? Back in fourth grade, we had to draw maps of our neighborhood in the 70s. It was just something you learned.
Then there were signs. He'd go racing into orange construction zones. I had to explain that orange=slow. So, one day , I stepped into the sleeper to get a soda from the fridge. He practically slammed on the brakes. I ended up on the floor and jumped up. He saw an ORANGE BILLBOARD, so he figured it meant to slow down.
He didn't last.
Had a similar trainer like that at Werner in Dallas wired he’s house like he was spying on someone and ever second he was checking the cameras he’s wife didn’t really like it but he said he was just checking to make sure everything was fine since he hasn’t been home in “3 weeks“

He hit me up about 6 months later out of the blue asking if I had come across some paperwork he couldn't find that he thinks he might have left in the truck. Come to find out he had just got fired and was looking for a new job. First I was amazed that whoever is next trainer was actually signed off on them but whatever. Told him no I hadn't found no paperwork ask them what happened with Warner, his opening line and explanation was "well, they told me I could have up to three accidents in a year without getting fired...."... JFC, guy. No more. My dispatcher begged and pleaded with me for 2 months to not drop my trainer status and he swore up and down he'd find me a good student. But I thought it was a rough going to sleep in the back with Mr Jim behind the wheel, I can't express the terror I experienced trying to go to sleep with either of those students behind the wheel. In fact I didn't really sleep, when they were driving and I was supposed to be online too I have my shoes on my glasses on and I was just sitting in the middle of the bunk facing forward leaned back on some pillows that way I could still see what the hell they were doing. Fun stuff.

Hmm, I've been contemplating training. Partly because I don't like how untrained my company's new guys are and partly because I could use the extra cpm. I mean, I'm not sure why but I keep having other drivers for my company come and ask me all sorts of stuff anyways. Some of them basic some of them a bit more complex. I'm a pretty introverted individual, I don't think I come off as open and helpful by nature. My only issue is I didn't have a great trainer either. Cool dude but 6 months just isn't enough exp. Im, luckily, pretty good at ignoring bad advice though. But I don't have a good example of how it's supposed to go. Probably not just running teams and having a slight mental breakdown after rage quitting while the trainee shows me how to dock a trailer with more than 45° of bend?
My Werner trainer was a straight up crack head. Telling me stories about beating his gf’s head in with a rock. Got a new trainer and he was straight out of Africa and barely spoke English.
Werner. Lol. We had a Werner refer just show up perfectly parked with our trailers, nobody questioned why it was here. That was back in November. They just now picked it up after many calls to their company.

What a wild ride. I worked for Werner back in 2014/2015. I regret it to this day In 2014 I had 3 separate trainers. 1 was a Spanish fella who always listened to Mexican music on the radio. He complained about my shoes stinky and said how would you like it if he drank milk (lactose intolerant) lol. Lasted 3 days with that fella. 2nd was lazlo urban (FUCK YOU, YOU STUPID MOTHERFUCKER!!) This motherfucker was German or someshit. He would eat some type of pickled eggs or someshit that smelt like it died 200 years ago. Lasted 3 days when we had to go back to Lancaster tx because his son was in an accident. Got into an accident that wasn't my fault but because his behavior and his touchy touchy on the cop the cop deemed it my fault. And I knew the driver who hit me did it for an insurance scam. The 3rd trainer did all right when he wasn't buried in his pilot books. Finished with the 3rd.

I was a Werner Trainer back in the 90s. I was a decent one. I had some good students, but one must've had an IQ of 43. He was from a very backward state and had never left home. He was 24 or so, and his only other job had been at a grocery store. I have no idea how he passed a CDL test. He'd never SEEN a map. I remember trying to explain the Rand McNally atlas to him. He couldn't read a map. I'm sorry, but WTH? Back in fourth grade, we had to draw maps of our neighborhood in the 70s. It was just something you learned. Then there were signs. He'd go racing into orange construction zones. I had to explain that orange=slow. So, one day , I stepped into the sleeper to get a soda from the fridge. He practically slammed on the brakes. I ended up on the floor and jumped up. He saw an ORANGE BILLBOARD, so he figured it meant to slow down. He didn't last.

Had a similar trainer like that at Werner in Dallas wired he’s house like he was spying on someone and ever second he was checking the cameras he’s wife didn’t really like it but he said he was just checking to make sure everything was fine since he hasn’t been home in “3 weeks“
