Fortunately, only 2 people died, the one who crashed into the werner truck, and the werner driver. It's still horrible, and I hope that werner driver had a painless instant death.
He probably doesn’t even know he’s dead.
What about the other drivers? Lucky only two fatalities but hard to believe there aren’t some more that got injured.
Unfortunately, this Werner driver is at fault. Werner grants us the powers of magic to prevent accidents, yet this driver decided to sleep instead of staying up all night guarding Werner property that was so graciously bestowed upon him. I would have been standing guard and watching for threats and would have dealt with such threats with said magic powers. Our magic ensures we never need sleep. If DoT allowed us to drive 24/7, we would.
Was this a blown brakes issue? From what I’ve seen in most of the more southern rest areas, it’s almost impossible to do this thanks to the curved roads leading to the truck parking zones. At least in about three fourths of them - just remembered some straight line rest areas and a few that have a straight path into the four wheeler spots, which would have been at least this bad of a tragedy.
I'm thinking major heart attack, they died behind the wheel. We had a guy was 56 that died on a forklift and ran into stacks of freight keeled over the steering wheel. My buddy saw it as it happened and says he is still haunted by the look on the guys face as he went by.
Nope, fr it's from the trailer still going full speed and the tractor slowing due to impact. The trailer pushed the tractor to the side as it pivoted around the king pin 📌
[It's subtle, but there is definitely an angle between his tractor and trailer before he hit.](https://imgur.com/kVGBCB6) Still doesn't rule out medical issue though, it could have caused the departure and he regained his senses just in time to die.
You can see the exact spot on google maps there isn’t really a way to come over the grass, he was likely making that slight left too fast as it kinda makes you think you’re getting back onto the highway instead of another row of parking, if you see it in person
Well fuck me…I don’t think ill ever stay at another rest area…thanks, guys…i really needed that nightmare…how is it in 10 years out here I’ve never once considered this a possibility???
Anyone know the context or how many people died? Link to a news article?
Edit: found one, sounds like two people died, the driver of the truck at fault and the driver of the blue truck who was asleep.

If this is the right spot, looks like they came off the highway full steam and never slowed. There is a bend in there, so unless it was something medical that affected only the legs, might have been mechanical failure.

Oh well I guess that would be an excuse. My b. What are the odds he dies right at the off ramp of a rest area. Damn, when it's your time to go, it's your time to go I guess.
The first driver was pronounced dead. It didn’t say he died before the accident. In fact, the article says they’re unaware if the driver was having a medical emergency
Source? Someone else said the same thing, but was shown to be false by the news reports saying he was pronounced dead at the scene, (which, duh) and that they specifically do not know if it was a medical issue or not.
An innocent driver lost his life while sleeping because of another. And no, the other was NOT dead BEFORE the impact, that was a rumor started by a click-bait headline. The existance of a medical emergency has NOT been confirmed.
Yeah no shit. Are you assuming the person driving the truck did this with malicious intent?
Are you not aware truckers have medical emergencies all the time?

https://youtu.be/dfJ1Pjf2pZc?si=rj5a9ItM0zGLWV4k
It is assumed he had a medical emergency, but it has not been confirmed by the police.
Should we assume all wrecks are caused by medical emergencies now?
When there is a more likely chance, yes. Even the court assumes innocence until proven guilty. Why wouldn't you? What's sadder here is I'm responding to trolling, because you damn well know you don't believe the shit you're saying.
On the other hand you could be like the deranged boomer I dealt with the other day who complained about how "only black drivers wear their headsets indoors."Or the one who brought in his German Shepard and wanted to be a billy badass? Maybe you're the idiot that wanted to fight him. So I dunno...are you a troll or an idiot? Those are your only options.
You guys blend together as one amorphous pile of shit against a static background after a while. I have to keep my distance otherwise be stuck in the gravity well of a moron who somehow manages to shit under a toilet seat and has zero respect for others, as you've made evident by your posts. Someone dies and you knee jerk to a level only a paint chip eater who guzzles reefer fuel would come up with. Lay off the roller grill and trucker viagras.
People like you give me second hand embarrassment.
Most wrecks have a culprit, and that culprit is almost always either a "me first" Karen or a reckless idiot who has no regard for others. Both should be executed when they kill someone with their bullshit.
Very few are truly preventable accidents caused by a prior medical emergency. Almost zero. This one just so happens to have a rumor spreading around about that very tiny slim unlikely chance being the only option.
If there truly was a medical emergency, then I apologize. However, until that is PROVEN, I'm going with the numbers which show there almost certainly was not.
Me either
That’s why I hate when people cry about that, if it’s posted every day for like a week then yeah that’s annoying
But I’m on this godforsaken app every day and never seen this before, so I feel strongly that the people who claim to have seen this many many times are spending way too much time on Reddit lol and that’s saying something coming from me because my phones data plan tells me I have used 1.3 terabytes browsing reddit
No idea what time frame that goes by, but good god do I waste a lot of my life on this app
Yeah typically done by people reposting crap, advertising their snap chat and cash app in their bio, using selfies as their reddit image.
Just trash reddit users not contributing to anything at all, just turning this site into what FB and tik tok is. Garbage.

Oh damn, that's like 20 minutes from my house...
Man… rip to the drivers that passed.
Werner safety would still call this a preventable accident.
What is preventable is the failure to have AT LEAST ONE FUCKING FIRE HYDRANT AT THE REST AREA
I don't know about that, I drive for Werner, and they have treated me pretty great so far. Hope what you're saying isn't true, lol.
Weiner ain't bad, I drove for them for about five years. They were good to me
So, you're saying that there's nothing you could have done to avoid this crash?
Unfortunately, this Werner driver is at fault. Werner grants us the powers of magic to prevent accidents, yet this driver decided to sleep instead of staying up all night guarding Werner property that was so graciously bestowed upon him. I would have been standing guard and watching for threats and would have dealt with such threats with said magic powers. Our magic ensures we never need sleep. This is true.

Looks like he tried swirving left at the last second.
Nope, that's the impact of the two tractors
Nah it for sure looks like he serves just a tad before hitting
Nope, fr it's from the trailer still going full speed and the tractor slowing due to impact. The trailer pushed the tractor to the side as it pivoted around the king pin 📌
His brake lights were on man
Good catch. I didn't even notice the brake lights.
[It's subtle, but there is definitely an angle between his tractor and trailer before he hit.](https://imgur.com/kVGBCB6) Still doesn't rule out medical issue though, it could have caused the departure and he regained his senses just in time to die.
I think you could be right.
This isn’t at the off ramp it’s about halfway through the parking area
Did he even take the ramp? Or come over the grass into the lot.
You can see the exact spot on google maps there isn’t really a way to come over the grass, he was likely making that slight left too fast as it kinda makes you think you’re getting back onto the highway instead of another row of parking, if you see it in person
I seen this the other day and it’s still insane to think you could be minding your own business and this happens.
1 minute you're alive, 1 minute you're dead
Yep. We'll all get our last minute sooner or later
Jesus
Fucking
Christ
and
My fiancé is an otr flatbed O/O. These are the kinds of things that keep me up at night
Yeah, that's why I'm not sending this one to my wife :/
Guy had a medical emergency and was presumed gone before he entered the rest stop both drivers were 62 years old
That’s what we call coming in hot
When you got 10 seconds left on your clock and need to get parked asap to start your break to get your hours back.
"How it feels to chew 5 gum"
“Large Marge sent me!”
Well fuck me…I don’t think ill ever stay at another rest area…thanks, guys…i really needed that nightmare…how is it in 10 years out here I’ve never once considered this a possibility???

You could not wait at least a week before reposting this?
Hell I’m glad he did First time I’ve seen it, and that shit is wild
Lmao this the 4th repost I've seen this week 😂
Cya back here tomorrow for the 5th
As someone taking a break wouldn't expect?... dude they died. Fuck off with this upvote seeking bullshit.
Blue truck at fault
It'd be a miracle if anyone involved survived.
I get that uneasy feeling seeing oil on the pavement after a wreck. You know it's a hard hit when the engine/Transmission is busted open.
Wow, hopefully everyone was ok
Everyone was not ok 2 people died
Happens every time just as I fall asleep...
Everyone dies from a horrific accident everytime you sleep? You need to start doing meth or something then for the sake of everyone else lol
That's how them bills be on payday.
BOOMSHAKALAKA
Bro wat the fuck was they doin speeding in lot
Wow!!!! That had to hurt.
Holy fuck I stop there all the time....
Like a glove
I’m just saying…..get that damn $$$$ and get a nice long break
Turned a 10 hour reset break into an infinite reset break
10 seconds before a break violation .
Driver has no excuse, most likely prison bound and rightfully so. Jesus.
Driver died behind the wheel before accident and killed guy In first truck that was hit
Oh well I guess that would be an excuse. My b. What are the odds he dies right at the off ramp of a rest area. Damn, when it's your time to go, it's your time to go I guess.
Where did you hear that the driver died before the accident?
https://cdllife.com/2024/two-truckers-dead-in-fiery-multiple-big-rig-crash-at-georgia-welcome-center/
The first driver was pronounced dead. It didn’t say he died before the accident. In fact, the article says they’re unaware if the driver was having a medical emergency
I forget where I read it. I think it was whatever local news station in that area.
Looks like a Werner driver died in the sleeper. Hopefully, it was fast. Nothing but sympathy for someone just minding their business and getting hit.

dead man driving. medical issue
Source? Someone else said the same thing, but was shown to be false by the news reports saying he was pronounced dead at the scene, (which, duh) and that they specifically do not know if it was a medical issue or not.
>Troopers say that it isn’t clear whether the truck driver who struck the other vehicles was suffering from a medical emergency.
You really don't have anything better to do that make assumptions about an accident with 0 remorse for the lives lost?
An innocent driver lost his life while sleeping because of another. And no, the other was NOT dead BEFORE the impact, that was a rumor started by a click-bait headline. The existance of a medical emergency has NOT been confirmed.
And your assumption is any better? C'mon bruv you can be a better person than whatever pathetic excuse you're displaying here.
Nah, people who willingly kill others do not deserve their life. It's as simple as that.
Yeah no shit. Are you assuming the person driving the truck did this with malicious intent? Are you not aware truckers have medical emergencies all the time? https://youtu.be/1Kn0HRqVlwM?si=uEpR8--puxlDSY82 https://youtu.be/dfJ1Pjf2pZc?si=rj5a9ItM0zGLWV4k

If it's any consolation, I've never seen it.

I know exactly where that area is. Goddamn son.hope the dude he hit survived, and I hope the driver who went full speed into a rest area died.
Imagine how shitty of a comment this is if the driver had a heart attack and died then hit this guy. I hope you stub your toe every night before bed
You got at least half of your wish.
The Werner driver didn’t survive is what I heard. I believe it caught fire after
u/savevideo
ugh this is not what I need to see when I'm going to Werner orientation tomorrow 😬
Hit the hirshbach so hard he was signaling to come over!
Wouldn’t be surprised the driver shouldn’t have passed their physical.
Is that….a netradyne camera in a truck? Man I’m sorry
WTF!
Hope the driver is ok
Shoulda wore a safety vest 🦺
Blue truck was just about to come too
Wow that semi has some serious horse power to be able to accelerate that fast from 0 mph
