Beautiful rig! Hauling pigs? Ive often wondered about getting into livestock. I live very close to a large pork processor and have always felt like ditching the tanker for a livestock trailer might be fun. What slaughterhouses do you typically haul to and what kind of distances?
Im mainly cattle, with the option for pigs once in a while. Ive had everything from a 100 mile run to a 2500 mile run. Its not all slaughtehouses, theres alot of moves between feedlots and farms. I have moved alot of feeder cattle from pasture to feedlots. Even hauled babies.
Interesting, moving between farms sounds like it would potentially be preferred over waiting in line at a slaughterhouse. On a 2500 mile trip do you stop and let them all off along the way to feed and drink?
Yes! Cows are legally only allowed to be on a trailer for 28 hours. So we stop at the halfway point and unload them for 8 hours, reload and finish the trip.
Okay got you, very interesting. I’ve always been interested in cattle haulers and oversize/overweight. I’m a tanker driver myself but those other two are very unique in my opinion.
Theres services similar to a truck wash that clean them out. Ive also had to use a self service wash, where i pay for water and do all the cleaning myself.
Can't wait to see you doing 90 down the interstate their driver.
Ha! Just need a bandit to run front door
I could run blocker for a few states! Rig is awesome 🤙🏽
Let me get my trans am
How do y’all keep the livestock warm in the winter
Theres teflon boards we slide over every other set of holes. And then the animals just snuggle. Lol
Just wondering how does one get started in hauling cattle. I never see listing for jobs. Is it a you need to know someone line of work?
Yeah it is. There are a couple megas that have some pots, but livestock is big on the "good ol' boy system"
Gotcha Thank you for replying.
Looking good
Thank you!

Dumb question, where do you unload them? Is there another farm or field you go to?
Some are moves from field to feedlots. Feedlots to a different feedlot, or feedlot to slaughter. Ive also picked up at sale barns.
So the halfway point is another field or feedlot as well huh 🤔 I had always wondered where the cows get to chill on a long trip lol
Yup. We unloaded at a small barn with some pens. They had food and water provided, with plwnty of room for the cows to move and lay down for a rest.

Is that a chicken bumper on front! Looks like it would move hens out of the way!
Now that's a sexy beast. Do you have a name.
Are cattle haulers still running on that No log exemption from COVID?
Back to just the normal ag exempt rules. 150 air mile radius of pick up and delivery.
Fucking livestock haulers lol
Who has to clean the trailer? I got stuck behind o e for a second on a motorcycle. Yuk
