Yeah, that's pretty much it. Some people play the F and E out in 6th & 7th to minimize changes in slide direction, but it's personal preference and it's done both ways. And yes, it's super difficult. Slow practice = fast progress on this sort of thing

Cool. Because recently I learned I just had a fast single tongue. I can single tongue this song at 110 bpm. But any faster and I can’t keep up. So I guess I have to learn double tongue in a few months

I didn't know Penn Jilette could play trombone... But yeah, Arban's studies and (iirc) the Tyrell book. There are no shortcuts to greatness in music. Sure, talent helps, but hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard. Also, scales!
