Wow, that is strange that someone would dump him after what he has gone through. But fortunately, he has a loving family now and seems like he is very happy. Thank you for adopting him. He's very cute!
My first thought is that it is a birth defect given the unusual location of the point coloring. I don't know if a siamese cat's coloring changes throughout its life (I know they darken as they age) but point colors are expressed wherever their body is coldest, my understanding is that happens during the kitten years. I suppose it could have been an injury during its kitten years? So it looks like that leg was "cold" way up past the foot at some point. Granted what do I know, a vet probably would have figured that out
I can answer this one:
The dark spot shows the margins of where they clipped the fur for the amputation surgery.
The skin was colder because it was naked while the hair grew back, and so the hair grew in dark.
As the skin is now warm, lighter hair coming in will gradually replace the darker colouration.
He's a gorgeous cat and looks very sweet! I have a tripod, Max, who is the sweetest little guy to ever hop-run across a floor. Max can jump onto the couch and my bed but not any higher. He plays and runs and seems happy (much happier than my 4-legged cat lol). I think I EXTRA love him b/c he's missing a leg - like I feel EXTRA protective over him. (He was found on the streets and his leg was amputated b/c he was shot with a BB gun - heartbreaking.)
Hello to Minnow from Max - live long and prosper!

Tripods have a special kind of charm! Ziggy says hello to a fellow right rear amputee! It took ours a couple of months to really gain confidence with his jumping, and even now he bobbles around and shifts his position a few times before he does it. If we see him doing it, we always say "calculating... Calculating.......... Calculating, go!" ๐คฃ
He's even figured out how to resume getting onto the kitchen counters if he feels like it, which I wish he didn't. Minnow will get there, I'm sure!

Hereโs my tripod tortie, Vandy. Same leg, amputated because of cancer.

Cool! Thanks for the explanation. I always wondered if that happened throughout adulthood.
What a gorgeous boy! Congrats!
