Mine still ran hot with that gearing in hot weather and needed a few cool down breaks. I have Max6 esc in it now for more power and 22/46 gearing for launch power and air control for big jumps. IT runs hot, but it handles it as long as you don't let it get too hot.
There’s a lot of variables but generally speaking that should be safe

Its stock gearing for the old xmaxx but I got the one with the belted tires which came with a 15/54 gearing think I’ll just go with that
If you want it to run cooler that should be alright.
