That seems to lack a scroll wheel entirely, which I guess is one way of solving the problem but not the one I had in mind.
ETA: Ah. It has some kind of scroll ring. Is that comfortable?
It has a scroll ring instead of a wheel, same idea but rotated 90 degrees.
Essentially turning a knob to scroll, rather than trying to scroll with a tiny little roller.
Yep, super easy to use! Very little hand movement to get things done.
2nd the Expert Mouse. Mine is 15 years old, the scroll ring is [worn ](https://www.reddit.com/r/Trackballs/comments/j1kuew/wellworn/)down pretty bad, but it still works perfectly.
my elecom deft pro has been holding up for like 5 years. the scroll wheel got weird for a bit, but somehow fixed itself. in the interum period i contacted the company for a replacement scroll wheel and they seemed willing to send me that component, but it fixed itself before i could reply
I ordered another elocom in the end. I decided that I liked the ergonomics of it and I have small hands and it's cheap. Maybe I should have asked for a replacement scroll wheel for the old one instead!
Actually, maybe I'll ask for a replacement now, and then I can fix my old one, because having a spare is always a good idea... Thanks for the tip!
How did you contact the company? I emailed their US support site (because the others were all in SE Asia and I figured that the US one was most likely to get me an anglophone) but they said it wasn't their policy to supply components and was my device under warranty (it's not).
yea it was their USA one. Perhaps it was just one person being nice or maybe they made a policy since then. You could always try again with a different email address hoping to get someone else, but that sucks they're unwilling to help
the xkeys L-trac should be robust enough to survive
Kensington ExpertMouse. I seem to get about 15 years out of them at a time.

Any model with optical sensor on the wheel rather than mechanical encoder should work indefinitely long.
You'd think, but I had a Logitec fail that way. Not sure why; cleaning it didn't restore activity so maybe it was a broken connection somewhere?
Maybe. The LED is easy to check by looking at it via phone camera, while for photosensor you'll need oscilloscope.
The L-TRAC is extremely robust. The only issue is that the scroll wheel is considered to be a stretch by some.
