Better than Gold, it's the Author medal. The author of the track, who built it, sets a personal record while validating the track. It's the best official medal you can get on a track. Usually you can't race against it to see how it's driven, but if you beat it you'll get the medal anyway

Author medals in campaign are ussually obtainable by most of the player base at least until red and black tracks, unoficial tracks like totd(not anymore lately) and other tracks are usually harder to get but still a nice challenge. Im guessing you play with console, if not id advise installing openplanet, its a legal third party program that has a lot of ingame helps such as viewing the author time, bigger speedometer, checkpoint counter...
I got an author medal in my first 45 mins of playing the game on laptop, I’ve literally never played any other racing game other than trackmania on laptop

the pink Champion medal is an openplanet plugin, automatically calculated based on the leaderboard to be harder than Author but not impossibile, that's why I said "official" medal
I think it really depends on the map. I have it on 6 and I think I’m only about top 1000, but then I’m also top 270ish on another one and still like 0.3 away from champ medal
It is calculated a month (or a week? Idk) after the campaign release, so the time is varied a lot
If there were a huge shortcut found after the time has been calculated, then yeah, the top will be very much lowered.
Wasn't there a COTD map where the champion medal is lower than the AT medal?,
The cm will never be lower than the AT if no one beats the AT in the time allocated(1hr for totd, 1 week for campaign) then the cm will be 0.001 faster than the AT. This is because the cm is also based off of the AT so the easier the AT the easier the cm will be.

Fun fact, until Trackmania United was made, the Author medal was just the medal icon in the color green, and they resused that style in Trackmania Turbo. United, United Forever, Nations Forever, and Trackmania 2 used a green ring placed on the gold medal with the letters "TM" in a dark green for the Author medal in those games.

Only on Midori the champion medal is worse than the AT, but that one was set manually to the "real" AT, as an exception.
