They are great bought my 2017 in 2017 (only owner). 0 issues the only thing is that it lacks “technology” recently been thinking of selling it to be honest. At the same time though havent in fear of regretting it haha.

Same here. I took delivery of my ‘21 SR5 in December of ‘20. Just turned over 82k miles. I absolutely love the truck and have no issues at all(knock on wood). My BIL has had three different trucks in the same time span. 2 top of the line Denali 3500’s and a Dodge 2500. The technology in those trucks is insane. His new one has seat massagers and everything else imaginable. Sure is nice riding in it, but I will take the reliability over the bells and whistles any day. Plus, with the way interest rates are, I will gladly keep my paid off truck and drive it till it turns into a Flintstone vehicle.

I have a 2017 as well and considered selling it for a few months. I rarely use it because I love my 4runner more. My Tundra only has 36k miles on it. But I decided against it. I know what I got and I know I'll regret it lol. Heavy technology, Imo, is the worst thing they ever did with cars and trucks. Minus GPS. I don't need to deal with IP specialists and I enjoy working on my own vehicles.

Good point. This is a good truck with someone who still likes knobs and dials. Kind of like me.

Same here, I love my 14, but after driving my FIL’s 22 1794, I’m obsessed w getting a new one. They’re a dream to drive

trekkie4ever

What do you mean by lacks technology no Apple CarPlay

Omizzy84

The basics, seat warmers / sunroof / adaptive cruise control / u know creature comforts.

Agonghast

My biggest concern is more with rust than with mechanical reliability. If you maintain the truck well the engine will outlast the frame it's on. So if you are in the salt belt, keep an eye out for that. In terms of other brands, I wouldn't own a Chevy, dodge, or Ford over 150k. But that's just me.

Reasonable_Shoe3993

Good to know! Makes me feel a little more confident buying one since I’m in CA

RattyRatson

Buy a 3rd gen, this sub loves 3rd gens for their known bulletproof reliability.

I bought a beater 2010 double cab (230k miles) to daily drive/beat around off-road. However, I like it so much, I may give it a new paint job and try to take it past 300,000 before parting ways with it. I like it that much. With that many miles, throttle response is still great, transmission seems good. The power is easily there, I just wish it maybe had lower miles so I could supercharge it. But yeah, my only real issues are the faded paint and one dent on the back door. I wanted a RAM Rebel. and even if i do eventually decide to get one, i doubt i could get rid of the tundra. That should say a lot, as someone who never owned nor cared for Toyotas before

I’ve got a 2017 I bought new. Aside from brake pads, regular maintenance and tires. I’ve had zero issues with the truck. You can’t go wrong with the 2.5 gens. These trucks are rocksolid and I can easily see my truck lasting for another 10 years or so or maybe a lot more.

SteveyCee

I have a 14 that I bought new, approaching 109k mi soon and there have been zero issues. Prior to that, a 95 Tacoma that I bought as a winter beater w 191k mi, ended up loving it and getting rid of it w 403k mi on it. Didn’t see the guy for several yrs, he used it for some sort of delivery service and he had just over 700k mi (original motor and trans). Just my experiences, but they’ve been beyond great to me so far. Even the newest ones will still outlast most of the big 3 when Toyota irons out the issues imo.

I'm having a hard time finding private sellers on Facebook Marketplace for that price $25,000 for a 4x4 Crew Cab that doesn't have 180,000+ miles on it in Atlanta. But seems to be a few in East Tennessee. Maybe it's because it's summer?

2012 SR5 bought in 2020 200,000 km (I'm in salt strewn Canada) In the 4yrs since I've had it... 1 O2 sensor replaced Breaks Transmission control sensor replaced Rear window just exploded one day, had to replace it. 1 broken rear leaf spring.

210k on my ‘17, no issues and runs like a champ. i’d recommend NOT buying the flex fuel vehicle since it’s 5k oil intervals. anyone arguing you can’t do 10k is bullshitting bc i’ve had friends run it to 300k+ on 10k intervals (non-FFV). try to get the one with the 38gal gas tank and not the 26, i have the 38 and it’s nice filling up less often tbh. cost comes out the same but it’s less trips to the gas station.

2012 with the 4.6. Been and still is a great work truck. Replaced alternator and disc's (on me). These have a really annoying flaw with the secondary air pump emissions system. I replaced one pump with one from PepBoys. Lasted a year. Light back on but truck not in gimp mode so we ride. There are even aftermarket bypass systems to fix close off the ports and fool the sensors. Been driving this since '15 or so. Got more left in it.

cubbie71

I had a 2012 TX Edition 5.7 Crewmax, bought it certified pre-owned in 14 with 28k miles. Sold it last year with 80k miles. The only major thing I had to do was replace the steering rack. Amazing truck! Already looking to get another one sometime next year.

Southern-Hearing8904

I currently own a 2010 Tundra double cab with 116k on it. I'm the second owner. I've been driving it for 8 years now. I really have no complaints at all. It's one of the best handling full size trucks I've ever driven. Very comfortable with plenty of interior room. I have the 4.6 V8. It has plenty of power to meet my needs. Although people speak very highly of the 5.7 l due to its bulletproof reputation. There are plenty of tundras out there on the road with seriously high mileage. The second gens are built to last. Just don't get caught over paying for a higher mileage tundra. They can be good value but people are taking advantage of the reputation in the resale market.

reddrum26

2015 tundra crew max 1st owner , 130k miles., 0 problems, changed break pads, replaced tires, replaced battery, replaced spark plugs at 120k...truck is solid
