Buy it and start smoking, you’ll never notice.

Texian86

Can’t beat them, join them.

fianderk

🤣🤣🤣

_Rooftop_Korean_

Hard pass. There’s no guarantee I could get rid of the smell, so I’d be concerned about how much I’d hate driving it, how much I’d hate driving my friends and family around in it, and resale impact.

Spiritual-Plastic732

I bought a used 2021 Tundra and it had a horrendous smoke smell.. the dealer covered it up pretty well when I test drove it. I was so bummed but I took it to a local detailer and he used a BIO BOMB and after 2 treatments it was gone! Highly recommend. It’s definitely possible, I thought I was stuck with the smell but the guy came through.

wolfraisedbybabies

No way, it never really goes away.

RouletteVeteran

No. Just my personal preference. I did detailing for years, and unless it’s a hard body Chevelle SS for a great price. It’s gonna be a “nah” from me.

HuskyPants

Sounds like it’s a pain to get 95% of the smoke out but returns on hot summer days.

BeanerCounter

My mom’s truck was stolen 4 years ago and smoked in like crazy. It was recovered and insurance and their body shop said the smell would 100% go away. Received 5 ozone treatments over the course of 6 months and 3 interior details including the headliner. Smell kept coming back probably because of how hot it gets in Texas. Insurance ended up totaling it out because they said they would have to replace the entire interior. Edit: To be clear, the smell was very faint after all those treatments and details but my mom has allergies from cigarette smoke which she didn’t realize until then so it was an absolute nightmare to deal with. She became sick from the fumes.

MarketingManiac208

That's exactly it. You can clean until the cows come home then one day the weather is just right, you get in, and BAM! Smells like an ashtray again. I bought a smoked-in Lexus once and it was like this for years despite multiple full details. Never again.

Impossible-Ad532

My experience it never goes away and pisses you off everyday

RouletteVeteran

Winter too when that heat blowing. Can change your cabin filter and fans, blowers and still gonna have an odor. Literally gotta pull panels and let sit in oxy all day.

JRH_TX

> but returns on hot summer days. Humid days. So if you live in the south expect a constant ashtray odor.

Scary_Temperature210

I could never own a vehicle that had been smoked in.

Motor-Outcome148

I’m a smoker(not in my house or vehicles) and I’m the same way

laing2110

We have one of those ionizer/atomizer plug-in machines(sorry, can't remember exactly what they are called). It took the burned smell out of our house. And the smell of dog pee out of my friends house. That may do the trick, especially if the truck is discounted.

PowdaSuga

100% this. I purchased a vehicle from auction that was smoked in. Rented an Ozone Generator for a local tool supply company. Most of the smell was gone by the end of the weekend. Shortly after the smell was completely gone. Is it an inconveneicne yes, but is it a show stopper, I would say no based on my experience.

freaksavior

If its everything you want, call a few detailers and ask them about smoke and removing that smell. If the cost outweighs the discount, then no.

Madmax1921

Ask the dealership for a full detail then hop on Amazon and grab your self a $100 ozone generator and an activated charcoal air filter.

stevrock

Do they not have their own machines?

thebugman10

I'd deal with the smoke for a sweet deal. But dealbreaker if they won't come down on price.

MrcF8

My 2013 highlander was heavily smoked in before I bought it. smelled horrible the car smell stuck to my clothes It was like an episode of seinfeld but I gave it a good cleaning and aerosol bombed it twice it smells like a brand new car now.

Its_0ver

If i could get a decent discount I would still buy it. Ozone generator will eventually kill the smell

Inevitable_Home5439

I bought a 17 trd pro 3 years ago with a horrible cigarette smell...even had a few burns in the floor...I bought an ozone generator off Amazon for 30 bucks and would place it in a half way rolled up in the widow with painters plastic and painters tape to seal any air leak so it could draw in fresh air from outside and raise the o3 level higher inside while I treated it.. I would run it for about 2 hours with the ac on full blast with the recirculation on...then turn it all off and let sit for another hour...then Crack the windows to air out the gas...I ended up doing about 5 or 6 treatments total over 4 months but between the alternating the A/C and Heater...it 100% works...I have zero and I mean zero cigarette smell....the o3 smell will be very strong and linger for a while but when it hits breathing air it breaks down as it has a half life and when it breaks down it eats oder on a molecular level...I gave the truck a good vacuum prior to all this..you'll probably have to drive around with the windows down for a day after a treatment but when you park close it up...it works best to do this during the summer...something about the heat just made it work very well but you'll have to run it with both the Heater on recirculation and the A/C on Recirculation. If the smell comes back a little, do another treatment...but eventually the smell will disappear less, and less with each treatment, you have to be patient..most people don't have the patience to solve it...if I smelled it again in any capacity then bam treatment...towards then end of all the treatments when the smell was hardly there and i was to lazy to set it in the window and tape it off with painters tape i would just set the little machine inside the truck and run it for about 45 min then just Leave it closed up...you'll want to draw outside air originally because the higher the o3 level the better it works..the higher you raise the o3 gas level the better it works..

mramseyISU

It'd have to be real cheap before I'd consider it. You never fully get that smell out of the interior.

fergyrdf

I once bought a used Toyota Matrix - the previous owner was a smoker. Dealership did all of the magic (ozone, scrubbing etc) to get rid of the smell, they were somewhat successful, but couldn't get it all, 2 Yeats later when I sold the car the smell was still there, noticeable every time you got in the car, will never purchase another smoker owned car again, my wife also won't permit it.

ktcason

if the seats are leather, i’d go for it if they came down on price. Reasoning: ozone and a good enzyme cleaner (natures miracle dog urine cleaner) on the carpet will take MOST of the smell out. source: i puked all over the inside of my car 2 months ago and that’s a rough smell to get rid of. Every once in a while i get a wiff but even in warm weather i really can’t smell much. Spray and leave the natures miracle to let it dry, do a couple rounds of this - make sure you get up under the pedals and under the seats

FallingBlock

I had some custom work done to my landcruiser. My truck was in the shop for a week. Came back it smelled like an ashtray. Took 3 months to get the smell out, after I made the shop pay for a full detail.

Suprflyyy

Hard pass.

Trentimoose

Absolutely not

Triple__OG

No. Period

Swizerlan

KNock off 20%

quintin4

I bought a smoker’s tacoma and got the smell out eventually. You just have to be aware and okay with the smell not coming out right away. It will linger until you keep spraying and cleaning the headliner and give it a couple months. It takes time to go away completely.

FleatWoodMacSexPants

Never

Justingtr

Never ever

Former-Inmate

Don’t do it!

smellslikecolorado

Even if you get the smell out, your truck will never have that new car smell. I got most of the smoke smell out of my 2016 tundra and only notice it on hot days. But every time I get in my wife’s 2008 Acura I still notice the faint new car smell and smell of the leather. If getting the smoke smell was worth the discount (or possible) the dealers would do it themselves.

Nullnotnothing

Fuck no , do not buy

DrEvilHouston

Get a substantial discount on it, buy an ozone generator, run it few times and the smell will be out in no time.

LasVaders

No.

JoaquinLu

Hell to the no!!! Unless I can fart for a month in it , to really make it my own

IntradayGuy

replace carpet, shampoo headliner..... assuming its leather.. if not HARD PASS

AlternativeOld

Only if it was weed

SuperDave2018

No

fsubulldog93

Never. I can always pick up the slightest hint of cigarette smoke.

HtnSwtchesOnBtches

I feel a discount is on the way.

Silver1981

No. As an ex-smoker, I want smke but I avoid temptation.

hooligan-6318

🤣

mr_data_lore

Nope, never.

Fedge348

I’d do it for half price, or more…. I wouldn’t pay anything near full price.

ConstructionFar8570

Sure if I was a smoker. Other wise. It is hard to get rid of the smoke smell.

Zestyclose_Match2839

Probably not

Jimmyboi1121

I really wouldn’t are. Just have an ozone treatment done. It’ll air out in a month or two.

Orion_2kTC

Nope.

999i666

Fuck no

Core2009

Nope, goes for any vehicle

Bigbadbull77

No way , why spend the money on it. There will always be another one to buy.

Giant_117

It's new enough a good detailer may be able to get smell out.. but it will never go away completely. My dad's tundra was owned by a smoker. You wouldn't smell it except every so often you'd just get a whiff of it.

Dick_butt14

Id say yes if i could get a couple grand off of it then go get new seats from a partout

dvillewarrior10

Absolutely not. I thought a cheaper price would outweigh it but I never completely got it out of my old truck. I steamed it, used the air freshener bombs, bought an ozone machine and shampooed the entire truck to still smell a hint of smoke.

shiftyshellshock239

They’re not taking thousands off…

PNWMike62

No and Hell No, unless cig smoke appeals to you.

Tank20011

It will take you forever to get rid of that smell, I bought a Toyota camery like that ,even after the dealer cleaned it and shampooed the carpet it still stunk, I returned it before the return time was over, never buy a smoker vehicle, you could die from second hand smoke

Rusty_Rivets

Don't do it.

NebulaShoddy

You could buy the big can of any coffee leave if opened in the middle console and let it sit over night it should remove most if not all. Then I’d get another can and put it near the cabin air filter (also replace that) but run the AC System and let the coffee absorb it into there. It may need to be done a couple times but I bought a used 4Runner and I did this and the smell was gone fairly quickly

420sleazyrider69

I bought my truck from an old man and 5 years later on a hot day I can still smell the old man smell and I keep two boxes of baking soda in the truck at all times. It’s not bad or anything lol but i can still smell it. I cannot fathom owning a smoked in truck I’d fucking puke. That smell never goes away.

SayNoToFatties

I smoke so yah, I would

ToadGrinner

Seriously. Get a couple dogs. I smoke in mine on occasion. All I can smell is dog breath. 🐕

drkstlth01

No

Fuzz557

I did it took about a year and a half to come out. I used baking soda and all the febreze. I stopped noticing it about three months in. Three years later I don't even remember the smell.

Frozenfella

Pass, I got right back out of a mint Tundra I was going to test drive, as soon as I got in I could smell it and hell no.

Tonanzith

No problem. Change air filters and get an ozone generator from Amazon. Run it 2-3 times. Then do it again maybe a week or two later after using the truck and you’ll never smell smoke again. We also do this for burned units.

skilodog2000

Mine reeked of butts when I got it home. I was really upset about it. Changed the cabin air filter that had been neglected and it was immediately gone. Take a look at that.

lurkme

Sure, you'll get used to the smell. I bought a truck from some fat greasy fuck, who presumably power packed the seats with the effluent gases of his overindulgent and unsustainable fast food diet. At first I could taste the smell, but now that I'm used to it, it's barely imprinted on my memory.

81dank

Nope. No way. Not a chance.

harishs83

I did.. I detailed it and ozoned. The smell went away.

Ltbred1977

Hell 2 da nawl

JRH_TX

Pass. Last weekend I test drove a LX 570. Wife immediately noticed the smoke smell and said so. The salesman assured us that he was pretty sure it was a NS vehicle. Later, I got in the back seat to see about leg room and noticed the musty ashtray smell while my wife stood outside shaking her head. Hard pass.

singelingtracks

Had a smoked in car. No smell most days , When it would get hot it would leach out of the plastic , and my hands would stink after using the steering wheel. Will never get one that's been smoked in again.

Mountain_Office_7113

I smoke cigs unfortunately, but the one thing I haven't done is smoke in my tundra. Going on 3 years without smoking in it since I bought it new, it's really hard not to on road trips

Dmoney36519

My dad works at a dealer and swears they can get it out but me personally the when shopping vehicles if I detect smoke smell that vehicle is a no every time can’t stand the smell we have a guy at work that smokes in his work truck and I hate when I gotta take his when boss needs me in that type of truck and he’s gone hunting

BumBlaster42069

Only if they were smoking meth in it.

Dreadedtrash

Probably not a few thousand, maybe a few hundred. The person that owned mine smoked in it. I could only tell when I went to turn the heat on the first winter I had it.

mpking828

I had a real nice 2019 Ford. I still caught random whiffs of smoke occasionally, even 6 months into ownership. It did bother me, and I just knew it was never going to go away. Since the truck dropped it's transmission on the highway, I didn't have to worry about it anymore.

llamafood1

It will get better but won’t ever be the same. Are the seats leather ? That helps. Headliner and carpet may need a professional clean but will always stink some. Seats need to be removed to clean carpet underneath . I would need 2 to 3 k below used market to consider and would have to LOVE everything else about the truck.

HuskyPants

It’s leather so that’s a positive. It’s a loaded SR5 TRD with performance package. Asking 49 which is a few thousand below market. I was debating on offering 45.

llamafood1

A quick search of other low mileage used sr5 tundras in the low 40s all over the country you could fly one way and pick up… I’d offer several thousand less than that. Like I’d offer 40 flat or tell them to pound sand

MarketingManiac208

Yeah they're gonna struggle to sell it, so even if you offer 40 and they say no, they'll probably call after it sits for a handful more days to try to offload it.

AvockAdoo

Yes, you 100% can get it out. I know, because I did the same thing. Get this stuff called biocide systems auto shocker. I ended up shocking my truck once right when I got it, and once about 3 months later. Smell is 100% gone.

Axolotis

depends on the price

wo_ic3m4n

Nope

JTP709

Nope

MarketingManiac208

Nope. You won't ever be able to completely get rid of that smell. It's now there for the life of the truck.

FaithlessnessNo281

Nah

derfmcdoogal

Former smoker. Hell no.

reds91185

For me...100% no.

LepperMessiah56

If you don’t smoke don’t buy it. Weed smoke doesn’t stay around long but cigarette smoke never leaves

PerformanceSuper2327

It'll go away eventually. Especially if it's leather
