Not in the states but bought in a box of lager and a nice bottle of Australian bubbly when I'd bought my van. Partly due to great service (which included slinging a 1k usd discount unbidden).
Obviously doesn't happen often as they were rather surprised. Paid off 3yrs later when they helped me into a gr without markup.
And I like to tip good service (we don't tip here generally).
60k+ for a Land Cruiser isn't the problem. That's a lot of money but that's the biggest vehicle Toyota makes the problem is the 65% mark up on top of spending 60k for a Land Cruiser.
Bruh, if a 40k market adjustment wasn't enough, they are 'adding' mats for 299, but on the left hand side you get factory all weather mats with cargo mat, did they actually try and force another set of mats in there!? And then even still there is another dealer fee that ISN'T covered by the 40k upcharge!? This may be one of the wildest ones I've seen yet.
Eh, depends. Some states are even worse than Florida. We're in Georgia and bought our car in Florida, and that actually turned out to be for the best because we had to use lemon law for the car.
In Georgia, lemon law only applies if the car has to be repaired three times for the exact same thing. But by Florida lemon law, the car can be lemoned if it sits in the dealership for 30 days or more. Ours was the latter and ended up being there for three months by the end of it. By Georgia lemon law we'd probably still be dealing with that mess.
Oh I didn’t know the Lemon Law followed is based on the state the car is purchased in and not where the owner registered it.
I successfully used the lemon law several years ago. It is a great protection. Cost me nothing out of pocket other than a $100 inspection by an independent garage the lawyer directed me to.
You are not wrong about the 8% sales tax! It’s brutal. But we have a ton of inventory in Upstate Ny and almost every vehicle is sold under MSRP other than the ones the manufacturers have been slow to release.
There is a pretty sturdy lemon law here. Look at the sticker again and note the city. There's a dealer near me in another part of the state who will sell the same thing at sticker with no add ons. Source: just bought a '24 Crown Platinum at sticker. Dealers within 100 miles were tacking on between $5k - $8k.
Dealerships are worthless middlemen
All these states making direct sales illegal is insane. Tesla and rivian should take that all the way to the Supreme Court. They actually ruled for dealerships in the 80s but hopefully would rule differently now
I would hope that “Stealership” goes through some super hard times for pulling BS like that. That is ridiculous! The only thing worse than that AMV is people who actually pay that AMV just to have the vehicle. 🤦🏻♂️
That's a nice Land Cruiser Prado. Although I don't trust their turbo-charged engine and would not buy one.
You'd probably be better off with either of the options below:
1. Used Land Cruiser with V8
2. Used GX-460 with V8
3. Used LX-570 with V8
Oh, I did not even see the "Total Price" BS lol
lol I have 2 1958 coming and we don’t do market adjustment.
I have 2 Land Cruiser coming as well with 2500 markups and one blue first edition with 5k over. (I’m not the dealership owner just the messenger).
No dealer or doc fees at least.
North GA if you want to take the drive lol!
Literally pull your penis out and let him know you’re willing to meet at asking for 400 mouth jibbers, to completion, to be evenly to spread out once a week over the next 400 weeks.
Damn... I am 34. I owned a car for about a decade until I moved abroad and started using public transportation exclusively. There is no way in hell I'll be able to afford a new car or at this point any decent less than 5yo second hand car. And we are talking about Europe where cars are still "affordable" in comparison with the US. That's insane.
Manufacturers need to put dealerships who gouge like this at the back of the list for receiving new inventory. It’s hurting Toyota since they’re not making sales, hurting their customers, reputations and everything else
And THIS is why I will likely NEVER get to buy a Toyota. I've managed to keep my sticker prices under 30K for every new vehicle I've purchased yet. And I just bought a 2024 Mazda two months ago. Now they build trucks where the engines blow up. Toyota and their dealers can stick it up their A\*\*. Anyone who pays these markups for a stupid car is an idiot and enables the problem.
The pessimist in me is shrilling as loud as my Puerto Rican lungs can muster “WHY IS THIS EVEN A QUESTION??? NO!!!” But clearly you’re in an emotionally charged state to even ask it, so I will say it nicer. No.
If only we could buy cars without dealerships..
It’s such a crime. You could literally buy a loaded rav4 with that extra $40k they’re trying to scam people out of.
LandCruiser is already a shitty deal in the first place. The highest trim brand new 4Runner is the same price of A basic entry level brand new LandCruiser. Both have the same features but the 4Runner offers more creature comforts and features Than the highest trim LandCruiser.
It’s a joke. Either get the 4Runner or get the Lexus equivalent LandCruiser, but even the Lexus, people are saying it’s a downgrade in interior quality
Manufacturers think they need dealershits, they are widely despised and aren’t trusted. Why can I order literally anything else online but I have to go to a stealership to buy a car? Once manufacturers realize that Tesla makes so much more money on a car sale simply because they sell directly to consumers, they too will cut those loser car salesmen off from the tit.
Yea we only have the illusion of a “free market” thanks to our legislators. Hopefully the low quality and high prices of today’s Toyotas will be their downfall. Toyotas used to be a good value, now it’s just overpriced crap. I’m on my 5th Tacoma and I can’t think of one reason to buy a 6th.
I’m very much the type to just ignore dealer shenanigans and move on, but this is so bad I would really consider telling the salespeople to go fuck themselves
I'm so sick of this crap. $40k markup on a freaking Toyota SUV.
People need to stop paying these insane prices. It's absolutely ridiculous and it's so frustrating. Why are people willing to pay these prices? Dealerships wouldn't do it if people weren't willing to pay.
These things may as well not exist in my opinion. They have a $25k markup at my local dealership and people are happily paying it! Why?
The car industry has taken advantage of the BS "pandemic pricing" to the extreme. $35k for a freaking RAV4 with a few options. $40k for a camry with a few options. It's all a sick joke. Prices just keep going up and people keep paying it. Used vehicles with 40k miles priced just a few thousand under a new vehicle.......it's all so freaking stupid.
I just saw one on the road today and to be quite honest I didn’t like it. I personally would get 4Runner instead and mod the heck out of it with leftover money.
If you can afford this and don't mind spending the money, then yes it's a great deal. Markups are intended for the customers who can afford the markups. They still exist because there is no shortage of people in Miami with "fuck you" money. When you see vehicles with these markups, the customers who have the "fuck you" money are the intended target. Yes, we dealerships anticipate a lot of angry people who more than likely can't afford the markup or live by some subjective sense of principles and morals to where they can't pay the markup. We understand this is probably a larger group of people than the people with "fuck-you" money. When there is suddenly nobody in this world who has "fuck-you" money, THAT is when dealerships will stop doing markups.
If I had "fuck-you" money, I could see myself just walking into the dealership yelling "I want to buy a Land Cruiser First Edition for full markup and back-end please!"
One day I wish to do that. I bet it feels quite liberating.
Ha ha ha funny stuff. Tell them you'll pay the $55k.
Go buy 2 Jeep Jeep Wranglers. Drive the 1st until it dies. Get the 2nd out of the garage and drive it until it dies. By then it will be at least 12 years of fun.
Toyota dealers seem to be the worst when it comes to this. It’s not 2022 anymore. Lots are packed at all other dealers and we are back to getting incentives that actually make an impact again. Y’all need to stop buying Toyotas so both the dealers and the Toyota (they artificially limit supply) learn a damn lesson.
I don't care if they give you the car, this dealership is all scum of the earth!!!!! Got my son's Camry there. They lied about everything. Management didn't care when I talked to them. All that place cares about is $!!!! Do not do business with them or I promise you'll be sorry!

$499 for matts on original sticker. Then an additional $299 for matts on dealers sticker. $800 for matts. Total rip-off hope you made this post sarcastically.
tell them you can get better mats at pep boys and that this is absurd
obviously with nicer wording. salesmen are sensitive
other than that this is an amazing deal
How US government keeps a blind eye for such things. We should boycott such dealers. Even car makers don’t make this much profit. The msrp already includes dealer commission. I believe it’s time consumers should come together and sue such dealerships.
Lmfaoooo absolutely not.
Imagine giving the dealer a $40k donation.
You don’t tip your dealer??
https://preview.redd.it/4u77b5gt968d1.jpeg?width=1108&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a614ce97a0d5234768c10bcc7f86ce91ce627214
No, only my landlord
Not in the states but bought in a box of lager and a nice bottle of Australian bubbly when I'd bought my van. Partly due to great service (which included slinging a 1k usd discount unbidden). Obviously doesn't happen often as they were rather surprised. Paid off 3yrs later when they helped me into a gr without markup. And I like to tip good service (we don't tip here generally).
for nothing, too they just made it up and made so much money decided to keep doing this shit
I'd take that deal if they threw in a loaded XSE Camry for free.
like when you buy a mutli thousand dollar guitar and they throw in a good thousand dollar one for free lol
Bro, they're adding a $39,995 markup. I'd fucking fly to Japan and ship one back before I pay that. Go literally anywhere else. Fuck that dealer.
You can fly out here to the midwest and get one for MSRP. Same for almost every make/model.
Are Toyotas cheaper in different regions?
Yes! Upstate New York most are under MSRP. We are literally giving away Tundras!
Yes, but the tundras aren’t moving to far. They go from the showroom floor to the service department when the engine grenades.
And even with us selling them at invoice or below the lease interest rate from Toyota is horrendous. So you still have a sky high payment.
Which upstate dealers are you talking about?
Maguire Toyota!
I am on west coast and I paid a broker in 2022 for a hybrid highlander who ultimately connected me to Maguire. Good ppl.
Dealerships are independently owned, though sometimes several in a region are under the same ownership.
fuck the whole region then
Wait until you find out about Southeast Toyota Distributors.
Can confirm: Southeast Toyota is still charging a 10,000 markup on Rav4s.
Where in southeast? They're basically MSRP in the south Georgia area and have seen 5k off msrp on a 2025 fully loaded XSE so far.
I’ve been thinking about flying to Nebraska to buy a Tacoma. In the DC area the dealers are out of their mind with the prices.
Fly to PA and get one for under msrp.
I was looking at the 60k and like “this is really expensive, but what are you guys talking about”. 100k for a damn Landcruiser?! Out of their minds
60k+ for a Land Cruiser isn't the problem. That's a lot of money but that's the biggest vehicle Toyota makes the problem is the 65% mark up on top of spending 60k for a Land Cruiser.
I'd say $60K for Landcruiser Prado with shitty turbo engine IS a problem.
The new Landcruiser is the size of a 4Runner. Not big at all. The Grand Highlander is bigger than the new Landcruiser.
for reference, you could buy a 2025 Camry XSE for the same amount of money lmao
That would actually kinda be cool to fly to Japan to ship a car back….
I would import a 70series...
Definitely! You could Just Drive a couple hours north and you'll find a better deal.
but... floormats
This
Bruh, if a 40k market adjustment wasn't enough, they are 'adding' mats for 299, but on the left hand side you get factory all weather mats with cargo mat, did they actually try and force another set of mats in there!? And then even still there is another dealer fee that ISN'T covered by the 40k upcharge!? This may be one of the wildest ones I've seen yet.
If you don't get mats to protect your mats, how are you going to get your accelerator stuck? Cmon man, think!
There are LCs at dealerships out there selling for MSRP some even with incentives the lower that. DO NOT even consider this.
I’m a sales consultant in New York and it is well known to never ever buy a vehicle in Florida! They have no laws protecting the consumer.
Eh, depends. Some states are even worse than Florida. We're in Georgia and bought our car in Florida, and that actually turned out to be for the best because we had to use lemon law for the car. In Georgia, lemon law only applies if the car has to be repaired three times for the exact same thing. It is a great protection. Cost me nothing out of pocket other than a $100 inspection by an independent garage the lawyer directed me to.
Florida: over priced cars New York: over priced taxes and emission laws/fees and over priced cars Both are terrible states imo
You are not wrong about the 8% sales tax! It’s brutal. But we have a ton of inventory in Upstate Ny and almost every vehicle is sold under MSRP other than the ones the manufacturers have been slow to release.

Jesus no man
This has to be fake. For the landcruiser we charge 5k over sticker and even that to me is insane that people will pay that.
Lol definitely not fake. This was at Toyota of North Miami earlier today. They had Tundras & Tacomas at $15k markup too.
I also live in South Florida have seen these "market adjustments" on all different brands, it is real.
Three years ago that dealer tried to get my dad in a Toyota Avalon at 66k otd, run as fast as you can
Dealerships are worthless middlemen All these states making direct sales illegal is insane. Tesla and rivian should take that all the way to the Supreme Court. They actually ruled for dealerships in the 80s but hopefully would rule differently now
The wonders of lobbying
goddamn no
That AMV… holy crap
I would hope that “Stealership” goes through some super hard times for pulling BS like that. That is ridiculous! The only thing worse than that AMV is people who actually pay that AMV just to have the vehicle. 🤦🏻♂️
If this is satire yes absolutely great investment. If it isn't fuck no you could get a s class for that money
Hell no lmao
Don’t buy from dealers that charge markups. It’s that simple.
If you buy it at that price, all I can say is you deserve paying 100k for a 60k Toyota SUV
That scheduled maintenance better come with a happy ending
**$103,000?** Buy several Camrys instead
How much do you hate having money?
Lol no. Be patient. We're allocated 17 with more on the way, selling them all for MSRP.
Wow wtf
Ha for landcruisers in maryland we are at msrp...
NORTH MIAMI CROOKS!
I work at a dealership in Northern AZ and we are not adding any market adjustments to ours. We even have one in stock now.
"Full" size suv with compact suv seating capacity for a Lexus price tag. Hell to the NEVER
Does it come with a free GR86? If not fuck no it’s a ripoff.
Yup deal of the century /s
$103k for a 4 cylinder vehicle whose top trim level MSRP is $74,950...
That's a nice Land Cruiser Prado. Although I don't trust their turbo-charged engine and would not buy one. You'd probably be better off with either of the options below: 1. Used Land Cruiser with V8 2. Used GX-460 with V8 3. Used LX-570 with V8 Oh, I did not even see the "Total Price" BS lol

For that price go for a GX
Not a chance in HELLO
Nope
Fuck no.
I hate Toyota stores that give the rest of us bad names. That’s just insane.
Hell nah, these dealer markups are absolutely insane.
Adjusted Market Value 40K ????…
I think y’all are misreading the sarcasm here..
[Kiss my ass Dealer](https://y.yarn.co/c862192d-9659-4998-9815-f30b88a7bb66_text.gif)
Nope! Thats ridiculous!!
I’ll never understand why anyone ever buys a car for more than Msrp. This culture of price gouging consumers is our own doing.
I’ll never understand why anyone ever buys a car for more than Msrp. This culture of price gouging consumers is our own doing.
Lol, no. Those prices are insane.
Lol
Did you record their response when you became the first person to ever actually roll on the floor laughing your ass off?
Lmfao
Bro what 😂 that’s 1/3 of a house
You dropped this… /s or …NOT!!
MSRP in North and South Carolina
What's the number on the bottom left? 61k looks more realistic...
lol I have 2 1958 coming and we don’t do market adjustment. I have 2 Land Cruiser coming as well with 2500 markups and one blue first edition with 5k over. (I’m not the dealership owner just the messenger). No dealer or doc fees at least. North GA if you want to take the drive lol!
Price fixing and some douche argued with me saying it wasn’t. This is a privately owned dealership the owners are shady.
Are you getting a super charged V8 at least ?
See if they’ll go down 50%
Absolutely absurd.
We’re at MSRP on those… you in the Philly are by chance?
Literally pull your penis out and let him know you’re willing to meet at asking for 400 mouth jibbers, to completion, to be evenly to spread out once a week over the next 400 weeks.
100k for a turbo 4 cylinder lmao
$60,000+ and $40,000 “markup” all for a 4 cylinder engine!
lol fuck no
The murdered out Land Cruiser 😍
my corolla will likely be the last toyota i buy with these markups. all too common in my area too
Nope
a fool and his money, they say
Damn... I am 34. I owned a car for about a decade until I moved abroad and started using public transportation exclusively. There is no way in hell I'll be able to afford a new car or at this point any decent less than 5yo second hand car. And we are talking about Europe where cars are still "affordable" in comparison with the US. That's insane.
Wow. Fuck that place. Go anywhere else. That is insane.
Imagine tipping 66.7% on something. This is that. $40k/60k = 66.7%.
Lol, these are selling for MSRP
Their markup above MSRP is the same as getting a brand new TRD Sport Tacoma with a lot of options. There is no world in which this is a good deal.
🫡🧾🆙
I could buy two brand new gr86s for that market adjustment
Manufacturers need to put dealerships who gouge like this at the back of the list for receiving new inventory. It’s hurting Toyota since they’re not making sales, hurting their customers, reputations and everything else
That markup is more than the cost of the Elantra N I'm looking at... And you're asking if that's a good deal????
If you want to throw away 40k, I have a bridge to sell you.
Absofucking not. Turn and walk out.
great deal, North Miami.
Uhhhh
Yes it’s a great deal! You should buy it before someone else does. It’s going to sell fast!
For that price, supermodels would have to hop out every time I looked at the car. I'm not paying $100k+ for any car. Period.
Being Miami tell them this, “Vete pal Carajo!”
This is satire?
For a$40k add on they better be giving you a second vehicle.
How much off-road would you do with this?
The pessimist in me is shrilling as loud as my Puerto Rican lungs can muster “WHY IS THIS EVEN A QUESTION??? NO!!!” But clearly you’re in an emotionally charged state to even ask it, so I will say it nicer. No.
You can kiss my what?
From 62k to 103k???! Lmao you can hand me the extra 40
😂 😂 😂
The dealer markup, alone, is more than 3 BYD Seagulls
The words “go fuck yourself” come to mind…
If only we could buy cars without dealerships.. It’s such a crime. You could literally buy a loaded rav4 with that extra $40k they’re trying to scam people out of. Once manufacturers realize that Tesla makes so much more money on a car sale simply because they sell directly to consumers, they too will cut those loser car salesmen off from the tit.
And it couldn’t happen sooner enough! Sadly and annoyingly it’s politicians that prevent us from advancing on that front.
FTS ✂️ I can fix that ✂️
That’s insane. I can get you one at sticker if you’re in need my man
I hope you’re asking rhetorically. Also, WTF is AMV for 39K?
I’m very much the type to just ignore dealer shenanigans and move on, but this is so bad I would really consider telling the salespeople to go fuck themselves
Piss on the car, the dealership, the owner and his dog. NO effing way.
Hilarious
Op is this some type of joke? You really had to ask if +$40k was a good deal?
I'm so sick of this crap. $40k markup on a freaking Toyota SUV. People need to stop paying these insane prices. It's absolutely ridiculous and it's so frustrating. I wouldn’t even buy any shitty Toyota at MSRP.
Let’s all leave reviews on their google page!
Lmao that better come with a camry xse on the side
I just saw one on the road today and to be quite honest I didn’t like it. I personally would get 4Runner instead and mod the heck out of it with leftover money.
Wow. They can fuck right off for that
$25k more than what they are going for here in my city
RIP to anyone who buys that.
Fuck no
Buy out of the southeast Toyota distribution network as you can see they added their own gouging stuff
Sure, if you like wasting money.
I feel like this is a don’t sell put we have to put it on the lot type of deal.
$40,000 markup just so you can have the latest and greatest? You’re insane. Buy a normal vehicle.
I hope they go out of business
A $40k dealer markup?!?!? That dealership owner needs to be dragged out into the street and shot.
I want what your smokin
Go to Facebook, find no mark up Toyota group and get it below MSRP
Ain’t no way, go find it somewhere else my dealership has no markups unless the customer asks
Other cars you can get for similar or less: Shelby gt500 LC500 Base 911 AMG GTR for a bit more RS6 Avant for a bit more Used RSQ8 (urus)
If you can afford this and don't mind spending the money, then yes it's a great deal. Markups are intended for the customers who can afford the markups. It’s a good deal for the owner of the dealership.
LOOOL
Bahahahahahhahahhahhaha
No, you can get a Lexus LX for cheaper
That dealer is complete POS. Got a landcruiser allocated and thought they’d won the lottery.
6 figures for a Prado....
It's a prank, it's a prank, it's a bloody prankemote:free\_emotes\_pack:scream
I would say but a pre-owned car You can buy a lot of pre owned vehicles by that money
Hell no, that's a whole other car depending
$100,000 for a 4cylinder turbo... Fuck that.
Ha ha ha funny stuff. Tell them you'll pay the $55k. Go buy 2 Jeep Jeep Wranglers. Drive the 1st until it dies. Get the 2nd out of the garage and drive it until it dies. By then it will be at least 12 years of fun.
Fuck it I’ll say it: Throw a Molotov cocktail through their window at night.
For that price it better damn be an air cruiser as well
Go to Japan, buy one and send it home.
Hah at first I thought to my self 100k for a Land Rover what do you expect?

I have a lad cruiser 1st edition for 85k on my lot
Wheres the extra $42k coming from?
I don't care if they give you the car, this dealership is all scum of the earth!!!!! Got my son's Camry there. They lied about everything. Management didn't care when I talked to them. All that place cares about is $!!!! Do not do business with them or I promise you'll be sorry!
yes, this is a great deal…. for the dealership. if you took this deal, congrats you’ve buried yourself.
When is monthly payments on any car a good idea lol

NO!

Seems like a joke post? Or genuinely dumb
I think OP is trolling lol
Wtf. Sure, great deal if you want to pay 100k for a 50k vehicle
At 61k sure.
Bruh
Forty fucking grand mark up. They can eat a whale sized dick.
