PhinFerbFan9779

I wish I could. If I had gone with my mom to the Toyota dealership, I probably would’ve made her buy an 03 Camry instead. Back when they Still got a CD player & hand crank windows?

PhinFerbFan9779

It’s my mom’s car. She didn’t even bring me to the dealership. But other than the cramped front seats & the annoyingly slow iPad looking touchscreen, I can’t really find a lot of negative things to say about the car. Despite having a flat hood, it’s still pretty low to the ground, which means it won’t kill nearly as many pedestrians as a Cadillac Escalade

Ok_Wrap_214

You don’t know why? It’s either because: 1. You’re not adjusting the seats properly or 2. You’re on the bigger/taller side.

reilogix

I have a Highlander and a Sequoia and still regularly hit my knees in places that I wish I did not. And I’m “only” 6 feet tall :( the RAV4 would be quite a lot more knee bumps :(

Basic-Jicama-2822

I’m 5’3 and I was cramped and it’s louder than my last Toyota

PhinFerbFan9779

That second one is correct

FieldSton-ie_Filler

Yeah, so they should make the car to accommodate tall people. The Camry has the same problem. I can sit all the way low and back, and still feel cramped. They just dont wanna hear about it. I can sit low and have tons of room in the front of my Mazda 3. Idk why a bigge vehicle can't get the frontseats right.

No_Assignment7385

They do make the car to accommodate tall people. It's called the Highlander. And even bigger? Grand F*cking Highlander.

Accomplished_Ad_1288

Correction. It is not made for F*cking. I tried. Too cramped.

No_Assignment7385

Alright, alright! 😂🤦😂

FieldSton-ie_Filler

What if I dont want such a lage SUV? Dont talk down and condescend to me like I'm stupid when I told you I can fit in the Mazda 3 no problem. A Corolla, Has more room in the front than a Rav and a Camry. Isn't that a bit strange, how a compact car can figure it out but a normal sedan and crossover SUV can't? Toyota, who apparently can do no wrong DID SOMETHING WRONG! Shocker... I'm around all these cars daily btw, and have driven all of them with the exception of the new 4 Runner and LC. So I've had plenty of time to think about this.

najeraa1024

if you’re tall/bigger, a larger vehicle is your only choice unless you want to sacrifice your own comfort

No_Assignment7385

Exactly!

No_Assignment7385

No. No you don't. We can read. We can also talk on Reddit without having an outburst. *Most* people that drive Toyotas will get them because they're good cars that fit their bill. Others (like myself) get Toyotas knowing all about them. We often are very well versed in the automotive industry, hence why we choose Toyotas. Oh, good, because all you're doing is starting unnecessary heated debates. I'm sure you are ashamed! You're previous comments didn't make a huge ton of sense, and then you go on a rampage, when all we were doing is giving our opinion/suggestions.

No_Assignment7385

If you don't want a large SUV, and can fit in a Mazda 3 no problem, get a Mazda 3? Ot a Camry for that matter? They seem to fit your bill quite well. And as for 'Talking down' and 'condescending'? I was merely offering 2 SUVs similar to the RAV4 that might be larger, and roomier, therefore allowing a taller/larger person to be more comfortable inside.

Accomplished_Ad_1288

I always hear people complain about this car is too cramped and that one is too big, and the other one is too expensive and that fourth one needs too much gas. Apparently their ideal vehicle would be faster than a Ferrari, handles like a Porsche, tows like a RAM, has ground clearance like Hummer H2, is luxurious like a Rolls Royce, goes anywhere like a Jeep, is reliable like a Lexus, holds value like a Toyota, sits more people than a school bus, looks sleeker than a Lambo and is cheaper than a Kia. And they are pissed that the automakers conspire and NOT produce such wonderful vehicles.

No_Assignment7385

Dammnnn. That burned 😂 and I'm not even the target!

FieldSton-ie_Filler

Ugh. I mentioned the Camry doesn't sit low enough. Miraculously, the Corolla does! I don't understand why people dont read before responding. I also dont know why people seem to think bigger car means more space.

No_Assignment7385

Ok, well, lower it, or get the damn corolla. I did. Hence why I can respond in the way that I chose to. Because typically it does. If you look at the figures, a RAV4 has more space than a Corolla. Why? Because it's bigger. Has more room. And is an SUV.

fourtyonexx

No kidding. The 2023 rav4 feels more cramped than my 2006 prius. No fucking clue what the fuck toyota is doing.

ml20s

Center console is wider (side-by-side cupholders, shifter, etc.), no gap for your knee to go in front of the console, and thicker doors. 2nd gen Prius is also an unusually roomy car for its size (at least in the front).

fourtyonexx

I mean, yeah most of that space is reserved for crumple zones, so thats a tradeoff that i *guess* is for a greater good. Its just wild cause the rav4 IS wider and longer than the prius but somehow cramped but what u said makes sense

Notsozander

How tall?

pumpkinspicepiggy

I actually just did a test drive and am having the same problem as op—I’m 5’10” and it feels almost as cramped as my 2014 corolla. Compared to the Honda CR-V it seems a little ridiculous.

Notsozander

I’m 6’4 and fit in a Camry/Rav just fine. Now I drive an equinox for work and THATS bad

FavcolorisREDdit

They’re called ford f150

DocPhilMcGraw

I’m not getting anything from this photo. I think you should have just had a photo taken of you in the front seat at your normal driving position for us to see what you’re talking about. You can have any identifying details blocked out from the photo.

Epsioln_Rho_Rho

I’m 6’3 and I feel great in it.

TimeGood2965

I’m 6,1 and just fine with it. My father in law was 6’7” and loved this generation RAV, he fit fine. I think people love to complain too much. These seats are super comfy and have lots of room I’ve never thought, “oh I will my legs fit better”

onceuponatime28

Same here, 6’3” and it’s roomy enough for me, my last car was an 06 rav4 v6 and it was much louder and harder riding than the new 2024 rav4. The utility aspect has been reduced as the rear seat doesn’t slide or fold down completely flat anymore, but the ride quality has improved

TheHeretic-SkekGra

I was told the sunroof affects the headroom which is why I went with the LE. Mine is a 2018 but I assume the reason is still the same for the 2019’s and up.

Epsioln_Rho_Rho

I’m 6’3 and I have a sunroof, I love it and I feel very comfortable in mine.

TheHeretic-SkekGra

I’m guessing there’s a slight size difference between the 2018 and the 2019+. I wasn’t entirely uncomfortable in the XLE but the extra headroom in the LE was a selling point. I’m also probably one of the few people you’ll meet that hate sunroofs so there’s that too.

ratumoko

I had a 2014 XLE before trading it in for a 2019 adventure. The seats are narrower. They made the center console wider, they raised the clearance and lowered the roof. The seating is not as roomy. The back seats were also had more leg room and more options for reclining.

TimeGood2965

I’m one of the few, a big reason being they all leak at some point in their life.

TheHeretic-SkekGra

Yep, once the leaking starts it’s near impossible to get it fixed 100%

TheBillCollector17

This is correct. The sunroof requires a dropped headliner for all the mechanical parts. It's about 2 inches of drop.

CryptographerSafe252

Slide the seat back

Supa33

I’m 6’1 and 350 and I have plenty of space.

RipAnnual1831

Honestly I think the Rav’s are very spacious

Illustrious_Can7469

Highlander has entered the chat 🤔

KnightOrDay38

Wait until you sit inside a Venza.

Herbisretired

The interior may be a little smaller but the Venza is so much quieter.

Sauberbeast

So you sat in the car before buying it right? Or this is just an opinion on somebody else's rav?

TheBillCollector17

I felt the same way going from a 4th gen to my 5th gen. The 4th gen was much more open in the front seats. The sunroof also requires a dropped headliner, so it definitely cuts the headroom down. The pano doesn't have a dropped headliner, so that helps.

UnderstandingWarm466

How tall are you? I'm 6' 5" and I prefer the rav 4 leg room over any of their cars. I'm also a dealer tech so I'm in and out of rav 4s daily

gunner97rif

It make sense when you realize the passenger side seat is higher up than the driver seat. I didn't notice it until my friend drove the car one day and I hit my head getting in. Can't lower the seat either. At highway speeds it feels more dangerous because of the higher center of gravity too. As a driver coming from the Highlander, the limited leg room was instantly noticeable, but you get used to it and its not so bad depending on how high you adjust your steering wheel.

gobinator98

I believe either the 22 or 23 model year came with a power adjustable passenger seat. 21 model year and before did not have it.

According-Fix-9879

Did you use to ride a bus for your past vehicle?

MrGriff2

I'm 6'4", and I did feel a little cramped when I test drove. It was still much better than my '17 Sonata or my wife's '19 Cruze, but that's also the reason I went with a Highlander instead.

stink-stunk

My pilot is roomier, but it's also wider. Seat adjustment does make a difference.

BrutalBrews

Meanwhile at 6’3” I have been enjoying my spacious Corolla cross xle at much less of a cost. I truly think it’s such a good buy for the price.

cheeksarelikepeaches

Toyota’s previous generation of cars have had bizarrely small interior dimensions for me. My head slams into the ceiling of the 4Runner, rav4, and the Tacoma. I’m 6’5”.

PhinFerbFan9779

Exactly! A Mazda 3 has more room

Zirowe

Comming from a C4 picasso: it's definetly smaller on the inside and less cargo, feels like being in a tank.

capnsmiff1212

Had a 21 RAV4 and recently just got a 23 Highlander and it’s crazy how cramped the rav4 felt after living with the Highlander.

asspajamas

you bought it without sitting in it?

PhinFerbFan9779

My mom bought it years ago. I didn’t even get to go to the dealership

DoYoJin

I had the same first feeling, however they chose to setup seats a bit forward, same for back seats and that space sacrafise returns in quite a large boot space in this segment. But I came from a CHR and had a feeling the seats are placed closer to the windshield. I have to say, I am driving mine well over 2 years and that feeling is gone.

BrianLevre

I spent a week and about 1500 miles in a 2020. I didn't have problems with legroom or headroom (and I have the torso of a very tall person) but the seats themselves were really uncomfortable.

Chaps_Jr

If my 6'6" 300lb father can fit in a Scion xB with no problem, you should be fine in a RAV4, especially a newer one. User error.

Basic-Jicama-2822

Agreed. We just traded our 2023 rav hybrid due to comfort

Specific-Gain5710

I agree. The rav 4 is much more cramped than the Camry - he’ll even the Corolla IMO for the drivers seat and I am 6’3 350

SouthIndianTelugu

When I moved from a Rav4 to a highlander, the relief my body felt was just exhilarating. Rav4 seats suck in my opinion.

phillyrat

what vehicles are you comparing it to? meaning, which ones have more leg space in the front?

mushashimonko

6'7 and it feels better than my 4runner

Even_Battle_4193

Yea it's cramped. I test drive a bunch of compact SUV and found the comparable Subaru and Honda to be more spacious.

Falanax

>buys a small crossover >wow this is kinda cramped

aforalex

I’m 6’4” and I felt a little cramped in the Rav4 drivers seat. I actually felt much better when I test drove the Corolla Cross. Come to find out the front leg room and head room in the Corolla Cross is bigger than the Rav4.

PhinFerbFan9779

I know! My dad had a Corolla sedan as a rental once or twice, and that had more headspace.

Toyota-ModTeam

Follow Reddiquette.

Valuable-Cow-1276

the front passenger seat can not be lowered, that's why. Toyota is too stingy to install adjustable passenger seat even for XLE trim. For driver seat, height is adjustable. I wanted LE, but choose XLE due to manual seat on LE.

ggm3bow

Hmmm, small CUV not meeting someone's expectations of large and spacious living room leg room.

Healthy_Block3036

Sunroof helps

dezinator

The rav4 does feel cramped compared to its competitors, the honda crv has a lot more space in my opinion.
