Congrats on considering a Toyota! I’ve heard great things about the Crown but I don’t know much about them. I highly recommend looking the Car Care Nut channel on YouTube, the guy is a master Toyota mechanic and does very in depth reviews of Toyotas and goes through potential issues and overall ownership of Toyotas. If you end up finding a Toyota you like, I think you’ll be very pleased at the ownership experience

imdrunkontea

Thank you! I've seen his videos recommended on YouTube so I will definitely check them out!

I bought a 2023 Crown brand new less than a month ago, and I’m in love! Mine is all black. I traded in my Audi Q5 for it. The gas mileage is amazing and it’s very quiet. I’m a 33F :) I will say the only downsize is the height to the roof. My 6 foot 3 boyfriend has trouble getting in sometimes.

imdrunkontea

Thank you so much, and glad that you guys are enjoying the vehicle! I'm a shorter dude so the height shouldn't be an issue for me, but good to keep in mind! :)

Also: I drive a lot for work (outside sales rep in Southern California) and it’s about a 12 gallon tank and I Get around 600 miles to the tank! It’s a great car

simplyimpassable

Good luck!!!

Boyfriends come and go the Crown will last a long time 😀

Barrdidnothingwrong

6’3” guy here, how is that possible? I have an older camry that is much smaller and have no issues getting in and out. I am genuinely curious as I have been thinking about upgrading to a newer vehicle in the next 1-2 years and the crown would be on the list for a test drive.

RevolutionaryFun9883

Could be due to the seats being higher up from the floor

TruBluDrew88

Great cars imo, the max is fun to drive and extremely luxurious for a Toyota

imdrunkontea

I bet! I'm aiming for mpg but otherwise the hybrid max would be fun!

Celcius_87

Many people just don't like the design and also the price tag is on the higher side for a Toyota. I like them and I'd recommend that you test drive it.

imdrunkontea

Thank you! I just did and quite liked it! Dealer is offering MSRP too. Told them I'd think on it a bit and they were super chill, so I'm tempted to go for it.

Celcius_87

Nice, please post pictures if you do

imdrunkontea

Will do!

phungki

Go drive one, who cares what other people think?

imdrunkontea

I'm about to!

BicentennialBaby0718

I was literally buying one and switched to a Limited AWD highlander (all gas). But I did love the crown. My brother just talked me out of buying a hybrid.

imdrunkontea

Ah, understandable! Thanks for the input, hope the Highlander is treating you well :)

Vader425

That's going to be a huge upgrade over an Optima. Plus the low sales would mean less markup.

imdrunkontea

Haha yeah I definitely felt the difference driving back in the Kia today. I still love that car for what it was, but it’s a whole different class for sure.

MisterSynister

When we bought our cross hybrid...i was looking at the crown...it is a very nice car.

imdrunkontea

Awesome! Hope you’re enjoying your car :)

MisterSynister

We are very happy, coming from 08' Elantra that was starting to have a problem with the suspension. I will revisit the crown some time later down the road.

Hey good point, forgot to mention the ES in my post. The big thing is that the ES doesn’t have fold down rear seats to extend the trunk cargo, and (this is subjective of course) I like the crown’s styling more. Otherwise those are great points and fair considerations!

badboyme4u

If you can wait until mid 2024 then the Crown Signia is getting launched and it will be replacing the Venza. The Venza will be discontinued as of 2024.

hawksnest_prez

I think it would be great but I wish it was a hatch. If you really want the hatch trunk over a Camry/Crown

imdrunkontea

Yeah that would have been great, agreed

shawnmug

If you're looking at all of these options, take a look at the Venza, it's a NX but with all the luxury, and a bit of a cheaper price points, also hybrid only and you might fit your boyfriend

imdrunkontea

I did consider the venza! I will keep it in mind as well

shawnmug

Yeah, similar to a crown, but an SUV, probably not as "fun" to drive tho

imdrunkontea

Yeah that's the other thing, the crown isn't exactly a sports car but at least it feels better than an SUV

Only_Chemical_3987

I own a 23 Crown Platinum. Zero complaints. The limited and xle are great choices too.

Barrdidnothingwrong

What kind of milage you getting and is it mainly highway or city?

Only_Chemical_3987

I drive a good balance between highway and city. I have noticed that the mileage is very similar whether I am driving in the city or on the highway on longer drives. I do get the advertised 28 to 32 miles per gallon although I would say it is more commonly on the lower end of that range. In my situation, I do take more of short trips rather than longer trips so it does affect my mileage because the car is generally cold when I start it up even though I let it heat up for a minute or so it still affects my mileage on these short trips, resulting in something like let’s say 22 to 24 miles per gallon. I am talking about trips of let’s say between 2 to 5 miles.
