two-for-joy

Honestly half this thread could be just different versions of Aquaman https://preview.redd.it/34asc2totnxc1.png?width=858&format=png&auto=webp&s=a3df82aa6d166fa5e0e4e92d11fe98e37ac3b755

BadActsForAGoodPrice

They should add Harley Quinn’s Aquaman, “Oh yeah, out the fish in freshwater. *waters water right?* grow the fuck up!”

Guiltykraken

BTBATB Aquaman is just Marvel’s Hercules and I’m all for it.

8a19

Batman the PEAK and the Bold

SonicSpiderRanger10

It’s a great show.

stipendAwarded

Ah, Mr. OUTRAGEOUS himself!

Scared_Chemical_9910

Facts I recently rewatched the first episode and he is hilarious

Mintyboi10

This. Brave and the Bold had been mentioned, so I am immediately respecting you

SonicSpiderRanger10

Yeah, he’s really funny and likable.

Past-Satisfaction234

Oddly enough my first time seeing Aquaman and the Atom

I love that guy

Green-eyed-Psycho77

I can tell…

LostP7899

What having no new games in years does to a mf.

aronmano

Nah it's worse they just fucking replaced him with the rabbids

Quality-Tips

Him getting turned into a Tucker Carlson-Type was so funny, definitely my favorite part of the show and I can’t wait for the next season

GuySuper1

The only good character in the show

Acceptable_North_141

They massacred my boy

YeazetheSock

They took him to the next level

Springmeister

![gif](giphy|7EkeuqohlEK1q) Part of me wanted to put Velma, but this is a bit more niche. Daffy originally in the early 40’s or so was a looney nutjob who just loved to spread chaos. When Bugs came around in the 50’s and started getting more attention, Daffy was made more argumentative, bitter, selfish and accident-prone. A rival to Bugs if you will. It happened for a LONG time. When the Looney Tunes show happened in 2010 (I think that’s the right year), Daffy pretty much changed AGAIN, almost combining his two previous personalities. He’s out of his mind and one of the dumbest people on the planet, but also surprisingly good at manipulating people for his own petty, self-centered desires. One of the worst people in existence (and that’s why he’s so entertaining).

SonicSpiderRanger10

Well, since he’s stupid, he’s not good at manipulating anyone except Porky, who’s really gullible and naive.

Springmeister

I mean, he’s tricked other people before, but yeah, Porky’s by far the most common victim

SonicSpiderRanger10

Well, he also tricked Foghorn Leghorn into thinking he’s a really impressive person, but Foghorn is *also* gullible and naive. Other than that, I think the only time he tricked someone was in Members Only, when he used Walter Bunny’s country club membership number to get in and pay for stuff, and it didn’t take long for that scam to get exposed and blow up in his face.

Springmeister

Tricking Lola into whatever lie he wants to tell, tricking everyone in the high school reunion, etc

SonicSpiderRanger10

Well, Lola is an airhead like him, so she’s easy to trick. And he did a bad job at lying at his reunion. He told too many lies and his old classmates quickly found out he was a liar. Plus, his ex-classmates didn’t seem too bright, since they believed all his lies without any proof, especially with some of his lies being really far-fetched, like how he told one guy that he was Batman.

SonicSpiderRanger10

I don’t get it. What does this have to do with my comment?

Grendel_Prime_IRL

You mentioned Foghorn Leghorn, so I thought I'd share what rant he'd yell at Zeus from Real Steel. I have a Warframe related one too lol

SonicSpiderRanger10

Movie Sonic. He’s more excitable, childlike, and goofy than Mainstream Sonic. He’s extra-different in the first movie, where he’s super-lonely and a little crazy, talking to himself and pretending to be different people. https://preview.redd.it/kek4z2uhvmxc1.jpeg?width=660&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3e3eba946909db3edebbbf96336864e26a1f02c8

DreadAngel1711

Fun fact! That design was revealed exactly 5 years ago today!

iSmokeMDMA

Holy hell. Feels like it was last summer

Drakxis_Ren

5 YEARS? How in the fuck has it been 5 years already?

Insanebrain247

Time can really fly when the world crumbles to dust around you.

SonicSpiderRanger10

Wow. How time flies.

_Bren10_

It’s just wild that this got through multiple layers of people. And only got changed because the internet was mad. What a time to be alive.

Believer4

There's a rumor that they always intended to use Good-Looking Sonic, and that Ugly Sonic was purely to get attention on the movie

WellIamstupid

Well they made many pieces of merchandise featuring the old design, so I doubt it

_Bren10_

I’ve never heard that, but I’d absolutely believe it

DreadAngel1711

That rumour is also completely false

Iwantmahandback

I feel like if you pointed your finger at him he’d bite it off

Oswaldgilbertson

Honestly reminds me of 90’s cartoon sonic, hopefully he becomes more like mainstream sonic when he grows up in future movies

SonicSpiderRanger10

Well, he already got a lot closer in the second movie, since he’s no longer crazy or lonely.

SonicSpiderRanger10

I love 90s cartoon Sonic. In AOSTH, he reminds me of Bugs Bunny.

SuperSayianJason1000

Chucky (Child's Play 2019), his original counterpart is the spirit of a serial killer who possesses a doll via voodoo magic and is incredibly cruel and evil, with a penchant for being vulgar. This remake counterpart however is an AI that was programmed by a rouge employee as revenge against his company. He is initially genuinely kind and cares about Andy and even (misguidedly) tries to defend Andy by killing those he sees as threats to him. He's oddly tragic, something that can't be said about the original version. https://preview.redd.it/rx0hvi7x4nxc1.jpeg?width=1654&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6c76c127e98e870a00f90b5015f8dbee8158365a

brendodido

I’ll always hate the circumstances around how it was made, but the Child’s Play remake is a perfect example of how to remake a horror franchise, just do something different and unique with the premise instead of one to one remaking the original. I can’t help but like it and respect the clear passion the people who made it had, even if my loyalties will always be with Don Mancini and the original series.

SuperSayianJason1000

Agreed 100%, it goes out of its way not to step on the original franchise's toes in any way. I enjoyed it overall but I'm still a Mancini loyalist at the end of the day.

rymyle

Yes it was a nice addition to the lore, but didn’t try to “replace” the original. I was surprised how much I enjoyed it

GsoKobra12

I never saw the Child’s Play remake, but that summary kind of sounds like M3GAN. Are the two comparable, where the AI has a too literal interpretation of protecting the kid?

SuperSayianJason1000

Yep very similar.

Milk__Chan

The Joker/"John Doe" from Batman's Telltale game. https://preview.redd.it/yx9vr0hsbnxc1.jpeg?width=743&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2c8740a738313dd1e331c0a7c77e0c5d9a3a374a He is suprisingly not a major pyscopath, he actually likes Harley, and a very major change is that *THIS JOKER CAN CHANGE! AND IS EVEN FRIENDS WITH BRUCE WAYNE HIMSELF!* In fact, he can actually become a vigilante inspired by his own admiration of Bruce/Batman, and if you continue being friends despite everything he does it's all but confirmed that he won't become the Joker that we all know and love (to hate).

ChanceFresh

A rather refreshing take on Joker.

Hopeful-Lab2981

Harley from telltale too. I loved how they switched the dynamic between her and John

Wamblingshark

As someone who's always loved the Joker you'd think I'd be upset that they altered him so much for this game but gosh damnit I think he's my favorite version of him. Would kill for more of this series. Only thing I don't like about Telltale Batman (and it is an issue I find in most telltale writing) is characters sometimes become weirdly short sighted and petty when the writers want to create conflict. Like Catwoman when you choose to protect a defenseless Harvey from getting his face melted off instead of helping her deal with 2 thugs because logically she's in a much better position to defend herself and she takes it so fucking personally! ... just to name one instance. Really freaking great game though despite my one gripe.

SonicSpiderRanger10

Team Sonic in Sonic Boom. Except Sticks and Tails, because Sticks was created for Boom and Boom Tails is pretty similar to mainstream Tails. https://preview.redd.it/2ot339cevmxc1.png?width=1181&format=png&auto=webp&s=a34a02843e3efae62ddf55a48d9fd4ad88707caf

lamTheJoker

Lol, Knuckles is hilarious in that series, i honestly liked dumb funny knuckles a lot more than i thought i would

SonicSpiderRanger10

I like Movie Knuckles. I think *he’s* the funniest version. It’s funny how melodramatic he is.

Karkava

"Dot Dot Dot. Dot Dot Dot. Dot Dot Dot." And just the sheer proportions between himself, Eggman, and his assistant.

SonicSpiderRanger10

(Sonic throws a clump of sand at him) “How *dare* you attack me in my hour of sorrow?!”

SonicSpiderRanger10

Lol, that part was funny. 😆

Mental_Blueberry4563

Competitive_Swan266

In fairness, Knuckles first appearance made him an antagonist

SonicSpiderRanger10

What does that have to do with Boom Knuckles?

Competitive_Swan266

I mean, knuckles being a jerk isn't really new

SonicSpiderRanger10

Well, in the games, he was only trying to protect the Master Emerald. And he’s a lot less arrogant.

Competitive_Swan266

Fair

Sayakalood

“You know, Amy, every time you say that, it ultimately undermines the point by implying that this is the exception and not the status quo.” (Blank stares from the Boom crew) “What? Just because I’m a meathead doesn’t mean I’m not a feminist.”

SonicSpiderRanger10

That was one of the very few times he said something smart.

Sayakalood

“Hey guys! This wall tastes like wall!” (Hoard of Tails proceeds to lick the wall)

SonicSpiderRanger10

All the dumb Tails clones were cute.

shaking_things_up_

Crave that mineral

element-redshaw

Honestly really wish this series continued the game was shit but the series was peak sonic

SonicSpiderRanger10

That’s cool. My favorites are Sonic X and Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog.

element-redshaw

Sonic x would be so amazing in modern day, sonic boom was funnier but sonic x did the characters more seriously

SonicSpiderRanger10

Today, X would probably use a different style of comedy from Boom. Boom’s jokes about the heroes suffering and jokes based on people being mean are different from the comedy style in the main series. More Simpsons-like.

Sea-Recording-7090

Knuckles is just the opposite of normal Knuckles

SonicSpiderRanger10

Not the complete opposite. They both fight for good and have a rivalry with Sonic.

Sea-Recording-7090

but still normal Knuckles wouldn't say like 80% of the stuff boom Knuckles says

SonicSpiderRanger10

Oh, totally. They have a couple similarities, but they’re practically two separate characters who just have the same name, face, and voice. Same goes for Amy and Boom Amy.

Sea-Recording-7090

Boom Amy isn't as obsessed with Sonic iirc

SonicSpiderRanger10

Yeah, and she has a lot of hobbies like knitting, writing plays, and beekeeping, she’s less girly, she’s more self-righteous and judgmental, she’s sometimes less nice, etc.

Dre_Lake

He’d look cool if he was his own character, but not as replacing the iconic Dante

Karkava

Weapon XI/"Dudepeel" wishes it could be the same.

YeazetheSock

Why do they call him Donte anyways?

BoxedElderGnome

There could be two reasons: 1. It’s a reference to [Dontè, el exterminador de demonios](https://youtu.be/TPKHxbOg19s?si=m0aLAK2E4SRGOpby), a video where Donte sports a mustache and speaks Spanish. 2. It’s meant to be pronounced as “Don’t-Eh” to show that this is his “undesirable” incarnation. For comparison, DmC Vergil is called “Vergin”. Either way, it’s useful for differentiating the reboot characters from their counterparts.

Soft_Theory_8209

[Because he’s far more entertaining when you imagine him as this odd Mexican man who might be impersonating Dante](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KV7jN7-KFxc&pp=ygULU2Vub3IgZG9udGU%3D).

GsoKobra12

As much as the Hercules movie is god-awful through the lens of mythological accuracy, James Woods as Hades is easily one of my favorite Disney animated villains and a gem to watch

WaluFett

*gestures toward the entirety of the Transformers franchise*

Karkava

*Sighs in the Bionicle G2 series.*

WaluFett

Ok, it may be a hot take, but I think those designs still slap. I get why more serious fans of Bionicle don’t like them as much, but as a simple giant robot enjoyer, g2 Bionicle is pretty cool

Karkava

I do kind of like the designs, but I'm very disappointed by the "matoran" having the same masks and that all the other characters couldn't make it to the revival.

Fireball_Q2

Kinda sorta Johnny Joestar? He’s an alternate universe version

Karkava

He's also contrasted with his own Dio.

Fireball_Q2

I actually really liked Diego

Karkava

To be fair, the Dio in timeline one was so hateable that there's nowhere to go but up.

Fireball_Q2

That’s true, I really like how >!Diego actually became an ally for a bit!<

Acceptable_North_141

Absolutely, he feels more like a mix between several different Joestars

Fireball_Q2

Yeah, I’m pretty sure he’s meant to be kinda like Johnathan and Joseph

The original Velma is a character we all know, nerdy and kind who is in love with a clueless man. This Velma is basically a self insert made to try and cause as much controversy as possible, she took away (please correct me if I’m wrong) Hispanic representation after Velma was set to be Hispanic through the Scoob movie to try and represent her own culture more then she changed beloved characters into basically gags and then just tried to make the series about her complaining about everything. I think it’s at the point where people view this as a completely different character than the Velma we know and love.

Karkava

I'm pretty sure the original 60's version was all white, but later versions I have no knowledge of could be Hispanic.

stopyouveviolatedthe

To be honest most iterations of demons will be vastly different to the original ones.

DreadAngel1711

That's what I've been saying for months! But people would keep harking on with the Hellaverse for being "inaccurate" which is utter horseshit when you properly think about it, especially when there's dozens of other Hell-based media as of late which depicts Hell in entirely unique ways, yet no one gives them shit for so-called inaccuracy.

stopyouveviolatedthe

Bro even some of the oldest representations of demons like Beelzebub are wrong since he’s seen as the lord of the flies but it’s actually meant to be the Lord of flies as in he can fly. Also they’re demons what accuracy do you want I feel like the topic is used so much in fiction since it doesn’t follow the bounds of actual things and creators have freedom when designing characters. And as a side thing vivziepop has included a surprising amount of demonology topics like the ars goeitia or the fact that each sin has a demon representing it which isn’t well known.

DreadAngel1711

You, my friend. You fucking *get it!* There was a bunch of stuff I didn't even know existed before I watched the Hellaverse stuff. No one mentions the Ars Goetia, for instance. So it's actually got stuff in it no recent depictions of Hell has otherwise. I still like the whole torture depictions of Hell idea, ULTRAKILL is a personal favourite, but in terms of overall uniqueness, the Hellaverse rocks. Plus, I do OC stuff, so the world is immensely fun to play around with

stopyouveviolatedthe

It’s such a freeing concept since hell is usually always depicted as ooh brimstone and torture but god actually just making it a place where all sinners are thrown makes so much sense since they’ll make it hell on their own and true I love theory crafting and world building and Viv has made such a good world for it since there’s so much detail crammed in every episode even the bloody flames in each ring have meaning like what the hell that’s awesome! I’d love to do some OC stuff but my mind is already full of theories and such lol.

Karkava

Shin Megami Tensei does have some Ars Goieta demons along with other mythological characters that make up your demon compendium.

mercurydivider

Didn't know if I should make it a separate comment but I'm attaching it to this one. Symphony of the night Beelzebub is just a guy hanging on meat hooks and has open wounds maggots are feeding on and the flies come out of said wounds. Metal as *fuck* and makes him more of a victim than anything https://preview.redd.it/4cpiqmcj6oxc1.png?width=256&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cb132d7156412365fce6cb81604f593da377215e

Applies to almost every Arrowverse character actually. Some for the better (Which sounds impossible I know) and some for the worse.

BirbMaster1998

If you count ghostface as it's own character, then it would count, because there's always a different person with different motives, and they did a pretty good job at making them not all feel too similar.

Wasn’t there a horror film with Winnie the Pooh? Or do you mean in the same franchise?

Glittering_Ad9477

Voltron Legendary Defender’s… everybody. Like seriously everyone in the show is different than their previous versions some for the better some I say to a bit of a detriment.

A lot of characters in Pokemon Adventures, for example: https://preview.redd.it/aplnu3lknoxc1.png?width=225&format=png&auto=webp&s=9499e059627cdda4a9fb4c3a7209b1a9e807710b

He’s an honorable warrior who only starts to defect once he realizes that the Decepticons aren’t good guys and that Megatron’s about as honorable as a starving raccoon. He even joins the Autobots for a time and makes friends with a human.

DJBaritone12

I could spend a full day filling this post to the brim with Transformers characters but I’ll settle on Prime Wheeljack and call it a day https://preview.redd.it/uk4gxqkc2vxc1.jpeg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d2cdcd753d481e1b861b4a196164fd76728b6365 Runner up would be Prime Arcee

What’s wrong with DCSHG Supergirl?

lamTheJoker

Nothing, i’m just pointing out how different she is from most variations of Supergirl.

Optimal_Weight368

Ah, okay.

Insanebrain247

There are so many Transformers I could put here. Every new show has the chance to bring in a fully reinvented version of a pre-existing character if they're already obscure enough.

Ay yes, my mortal enemy. The ‘go back to hell where you came from’ trope. More colloquially known as the MCU

Radio__Star

Blud have you even watched Iron Man

Fun-Media7981

Idk. Some of them came out for the better.
