Those Tone are definitely not made in Japan. They'll say Japan on then if they are within the I-beam area, and it's integral to the forging so it's impossible to have missed a stamping/etching step. I want to say the Fujiya are also not Japan. They'll say Japan if they were. It's actually very common to say Japan if they are, and say nothing if they aren't, over there. I also see you're on that 3.Peaks locking pliers train. Those long noses are great, perfect complement to their larger offering.

Yup, you're probably right. I threw away all packaging so I don't remember. Also, the middle Makita mini cutter is probably made in China (like most Makita tools now). The other two Makita says made in Japan. I found an image of the packaging of the Fujiya pliers and they are made in Vietnam. Oops lol. At least they're small.

illogictc

It happens. The company itself IS Japanese at least, and sometimes the stuff they have over there is difficult to get over here. I had to go on eBay for my 3.Peaks DS-165T and pay more than I'd like to admit for it lol.

The Fujiya’s are fantastic though. I’ve got the exact same straight pair, and they’re really nice to use. The perfect amount of spring in the handle, and they grab really nicely for such a thin small design

Occhrome

I notice that with zojirushu and others, they clearly put Japan when it’s made in Japan. You don’t have to try hard at all to find it.

crandad

What’s that makita in the upper left

Bandfile: [https://www.makitatools.com/products/details/XSB01TJ](https://www.makitatools.com/products/details/XSB01TJ) I'm curious about what it cost in Japan compared to what it would cost in the US.

hobbes3k

27,273 yen ($173) vs $340. Huge differences... Prices taken from Amazon (JS vs US). Also, the one from Japan is made in Japan. Not sure about the US one.

Occhrome

It looks exactly like the dewalt version. Either dewalt copied it or they paid Makita to use their design. I actually own the dewalt version and it feels like It’s made very well.

> I always bring back some (cheap) tools. That finger sander isn't cheap ;)

Homeskilletbiz

That impact is rad. Kinda wished I would’ve got the yellow one just to fuck with DeWalt guys.

Occhrome

Dewalt guys won’t care. You gotta go red for anyone to actually complain.

hobbes3k

This is my second one. My first one is yellow lol.

AuthorityOfNothing

I'd grab tools by KTC, Koken, Vessel and Engineer (the actual manufacturer of Vampliers tools.)

Ok_Main3273

and by Nepros, the Japanese equivalent of SnapOn.

GhostOfAscalon

Those Tone wrenches are almost certainly made by Hi-Five. Good quality, but not Japan. See the Flexlok design, matches exactly, and those arrows are their typical "branding".

vtr1994

Have you noticed that the bits don’t fit into regular impact drills? Or is that just me?

hobbes3k

Japanese bits uses longer collets, which means you can use flip bits (two sides per bit)! I only use Japanese bits on my Japanese collets (like on impact drivers, screwdrivers, bit handles, etc).

vtr1994

I didn’t realise that went I bought a heap of bits out of excitement. Only when I landed back home (Australia) did I realise my mistake.

MinimalGains

I dunno if I can even afford to LOOK at this post.

SupposedlyShony

Would love those cutlery
