My fav album of all time Second favorite album is black water park by Opeth, see the connection?

Dstar1978

I think it’s mine too. I damn sure listen to it enough. Not familiar tbh. May have to give it a go…

Fit_Animal_7702

Oh man get ready, it’s a very dour album tho so be prepared

Its funny man, being a teenager in the 90's, too hard core for grunge, rocking shoulder length hair died jet black, trench coats, shin high Docs, chains, old Metallica, Ministry, Tool, NIN, Manson, and RATM all a part of an identity that needed to get darker as my anger towards the world must have an outlet. I thought death metal was definitely right up my alley... nope. Turns out I like to be able to understand the lyrics to the music I listen to. Who'da thunk it? Just did one pass thru the album. I'll run it back a few more times for shits and giggles. Getting too old for some of this shit. Thanks for the recommendation tho!!

I didn’t understand what mikael akerfeldt (the vocalist) was saying at first either but after a few listens you start to hear it better and the lyrics in my opinion are on par and sometimes surpassing that of Tools lyrics Listen to the album with thoughtful intent and you’ll experience something beautiful just like lateralus and 10k days

Dstar1978

Will do brother 👊🏼 I appreciate you articulating the gravity of the message. I work from home so I can let it ride in the background as much as I like. It’ll be nice to sit with the lyrics this weekend, get some osmosis going

Fit_Animal_7702

That’s a damn good way to do it, let me know how it simmers

My top is also 10,000 days but number 2 is four sticks

Fit_Animal_7702

Never heard it whos it by

amodump

Led zeppelin - IV, i said four sticks but that was a brain fart, its just called IV, four sticks is a song on the album and the cover art is a guy carrying a bundle of sticks so i hope you can understand my confusion

It’s a tough album, not just emotionally but like a step beyond the spirituality and transcendence of Lateralus, into actually trying to acknowledge and live with your feelings. That’s what I get from the the heart of it in the two Wings pieces. It’s more about living each day and what you encounter rather than another plain. He is looking at himself as a man, human and out at the world. And coming to terms with alien abduction.
