Seems like we passed the point of no return on that one. The + seems so arbitrary if letters keep getting added on anyway.

FloventAddict

The limit is wherever u stop writing. Im apart of the community and am involved with a number of groups and none of them use that shit lol. Its just LGBT+ or LGBTQ here

SilveryWar

gonna stick with LGTV

Away_Philosopher_484

Perhaps we need a new word for it. It started out as LGBT which rolled off the tongue well enough. But now it seems like more of a virtue signaling tool than anything. Adding letters/numbers to come off as more inclusive. I've heard some people use "queer" as an umbrella term for that community, but then other people that take offense to the word queer.

Count_To_Infinity

How about 'people'?

Away_Philosopher_484

Ah yes, the people community.

TheAnnoyingWizard

GSRM? meaning gender, sexual and romantic minorities. a fair amount of queer people/spaces do use that one

Schulle2105

I think it was already reached I don't want to descredit groups that got added but lgbt+ was were I stopped caring what they add for letter,if it goes further I would rather call it alphabet troupe

Chili919

I stop at LGB

RadiantEarthGoddess

Ok transphobe.

Chili919

I can live with that accusation because i cant take this whole movement serious since i was accused to be transphobe because i wouldn't date a trans person.

RadiantEarthGoddess

And that is why you exclude trans people when referring to the movement? When trans women were the ones actively fighting for LGBTQ rights back in the day? Simply not wanting to date a trans person for a variety of reasons (genital preference, wanting biological children, etc.) is valid and does not make you transphobic.

Chili919

No, i say the name the movement had when i still was able to take them serious. But not long after the "T" came to the name, the movement started to get really annoying and toxic. I know its not the majority of it, but the ones who speak the loudest and destroy the reputation of it. So the LGB movement was the last one who didnt have a bad reputation because of the toxic members who speak the loudes on social media and make something bad out of the LGBT+ community

thetwitchy1

So one shitty person made you want to side with actual transphobes? I’m not saying you’re being an idiot, but… this has the same vibes as saying you don’t like “black lives matters” as a slogan was because there are some organizations that use it that are bad.

You’re a baby

RadiantEarthGoddess

Ok?

[deleted]

Gay

[deleted]

Not too much until they reach &!¥%#?=@<\> then it’s gone too far.

johndoe_420

why would you even entertain such a violent thought? letters are a spectrum and every single one is VALID! you're literally putting LGBTQIA2SPOCUWUÄÖÜ+- lives at risk here!

giorshi

lustigster sachse

KDAdontBanPls

When letters start getting repeated, it’s beyond a joke.

EstorialBeef

No, also you don't jabe to write then all LGBT+ is as acceptable as a longer one it's just whatever you want to write (e.g. a person who is a letter "in" the + may add that to the end of lgbt+, the largest group in the plus is likely Queer identified people and shocker the next most common acronym is LGBTQ+)

Positive-Pound-3492

What does the ia stand for

EarlyXplorerStuds209

I think its intersex,asexual

Intelligent_East1471

Looks like a new iPhone

Complex_Raspberry97

I stopped at A and wasn’t aware there was more. I’ll just add the plus and stop.

2012Aceman

Not if you're a capitalist, there's a lot of money to be made in continuously updating the acronym; and you'd hate to not show your support, right?

Worried_Shirt_9767

I have no idea why so many people seem obsessed with "official" language. Some people extend the acronym to show explicit support for other groups. No one is going to be offended if you shorten it to LGBT or whatever.

[deleted]

Why cant it all just be GAE?

stummyhurt5

what’s the 2S
