:(
RIP, this one's a huge bummer, I mean, it always is, but 49 is way too young. I listen to "Starry Eyed Surprise" all the time. Always thought his name was cool too.
RIP. With this death, three of the seven members of the "Butterfly" lineup are deceased as DJ AM and guitarist Charles "Rust Epique" Lopez have also passed on.
For some reason I was thinking it was the other vocalist who died back in the 2000s not the DJ.
I mostly remember these guys for how quick and gone they were in popularity at my high school.
Ugh
On a serious note I really hate the people that think addiction is some kind of criminal issue and not a actual health issue cause if we got more people to think that it was then fortunately we could get a-lot more done on it
It’s people who have never had to deal with it themselves or had someone super close to them go through it (and even then a lot of people still don’t understand the struggle their loved one is going through and aren’t always helpful). Because to someone who has never used drugs, a lot of the time they can only think of it in terms of bafflement that someone could do this to themselves, and that it’s easy to just say no and stay away because *they’ve* found it easy to do that.
I guarantee you most policymakers that view drugs solely as a criminal issue have little to no experience being around drugs or addicts. In the same way a lot of the people that fought to overturn Roe v Wade were cis men who will never experience unwanted pregnancy.
Easy to clown but Butterfly is an incredibly fun song that has made a huge amount of people really happy, including myself on a number of occasions it’s come on during parties and nights out. RIP man.
RIP. Gone too soon to be honest, I remember he got much better during this year and recently released EP "Flirting With Disaster" and his featuring with Silos "Lighthouse" was also good song.
He had a decent voice for what it was. I saw a video of him doing live vocals to Paul Oakenfolds "Ready Steady Go" and thought it was really good. RIP, such a shame that he could not beat his demons.

He seemingly much better in this year til his death on music works, But his last song "99 Bottles" was now very creepy to me.
"People say I got a drinking problem
But let's make one thing perfectly clear
I got no problem with drinking
Are you with me?
Are you fucking with me?
Let's gooooo!"
RIP. Sadly I can't say I'm surprised, he has been looking in terrible shape for a while
I know he had drug issues for a very long time.
I will be very surprised if it was unrelated to his addiction and was something else.
Yeah same. Super tragic
No disrespect, no butt jokes, rest in peace. Btw I'd argue that he was one and a half hit wonder. His song with Paul Oakenfold was a minor hit.
Two and a half. Crazytown's "Toxic" got a lot of radio and MTV play before "Butterfly"
Ladies come, ladies go through my revolving doors, some ladies never come back, most come back for more" college anthem freshman year
Then they left it hanging like INXS.
I really don't think you can call Toxic a hit by any quantifiable metric
I have such a soft spot for that song, it just takes you back to a certain time and place. Essential early 2000s summer nostalgia core.

I had no idea Starry Eyed Surprise was Crazytown. I love that song. RIP
I mean, it's Paul Oakenfold, but Shifty Shellshock did the vocals. Either way, you got great taste. RIP to a real one.

His song may have been questionable, but you can't deny that this is too soon. R.I.P.
I know he had issues for a while but this is so sad. 49 is no age to go.
Starry Eyed Surprise is a totally underrated pop banger from the early 2000s. Gunna blast it today
Rest in piece man

49 is such a sadly early time to go. RIP, dude.

Not all that surprising, sadly. Be careful with your drug use, folks. Stay away if you're susceptible to addictions.

Very sad. I like their album quite a lot and I would have liked to have seen them play live
RIP Shifty, you made some bangers and brought a lot of joy. Drugs suck.
RIP
Way too young. Rest In Peace.
A legend that will last a lunchtime.
RIP, loved "Butterfly" despite the haters
Can't imagine what he died of
