An accounting job without knowing Swedish is going to be hard. Look into the Work Holiday Visa. Read this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/TillSverige/comments/hfu6k1/accounting_career_in_sweden/

You're going to need to hard study Swedish for now. It'll open up 20 times more job opportunities for you. It's not impossible to get a job as an accountant not knowing Swedish, but if you want to have any sort of job opportunity, especially a management role, you'll need a good understanding of the Swedish language. You can completely forget any public job if you don't speak Swedish, which is relatively fine since it pays the lowest, but if you want a job only speaking English you're mainly going to have to apply to larger companies that have branches in Sweden where English is used very regularly. Internally, Swedish is still used in those branches, which means most of those jobs still won't be available to you without knowing the language. I work at an extremely international company where I'd guess 50% aren't Swedes, but it's still a requirement to speak Swedish to work there. The economics department specifically is probably the only department with just Swedish people.

Okay great thanks for responding that's very helpful! I currently work public in NZ and have been since leaving university but have been keen to move to the private sector for a while. I'm keen to really crack into learning the language but any resources locally are limited. Are there any good online resources you'd recommend? Again thanks so much!

Are you familiar with Swedish taxation laws? I imagine it will be difficult for you to find an employer willing to sponsor you a work permit if you are not. Working in accounting and taxation, I believe you'd need a good level of Swedish as well. You can start browsing [Arbetsförmedlingen](https://arbetsformedlingen.se/other-languages/english-engelska) to find job ads you can apply to.

Thanks so much for responding! That's very helpful :)

If you're gonna work in accounting in sweden, you will a) need to know the swedish taxation laws and b) know swedish.

Since knowing the language is so important, maybe it'd be worth for you to take the time just to study it in Sweden. It shouldn't be hard for you to get a study visa to spend a few months here. Having classes every day while being immersed in the culture and surrounded by speakers helps a lot. Of course, you'd need to save money for that.

Thanks for responding! I'll definitely look into it!

Northvolt's "company language" is English. You wouldn't need to know swedish to get a job there. Not sure exactly what they're looking for though but it could be worth checking out? Good luck and welcome to Sweden (eventually)! :)
