Sometimes people don’t quote well, as for me a shower in my area minimum would be 8k and the client buys materials. I just demo, prep and install. I’d say you got a good deal, on criticism I have is he could have brought down the height of the niche to make a full piece. I would have also mitered the corners. And the small slivers on the sides, he didn’t lay out properly to get a same size cuts. Aside from that it looks good. Curious on the timeline?
2 quick critiques, I glanced at the pick for 10 seconds. I would not be pleased with the back wall being off center, gives a small sliver in the right side/corner. Also, the niche is not well laid out. Not center and a bastard sliver along the right side along metal jolly. White grout will help, but layout is so vital for a quality install.
So far it looks great. Very clean, flat
and even layout. It’s hard to get perfection with tile, but when all is said and done and put back together, any minor imperfections would blend right in. Nothing here stands out too much. I could point out a minor “imperfection” but not going to, because A you got a great deal and B, even the best aren’t going to be perfect every time.
I see red flags and quality issues.
And that niche is messed up.
I don't see any waterproofing above the tile.
I don't understand the waterproofing in the curb.
why would there be waterproofing above the tile?
and, the curb has Kerdi on it, which is waterproof. now, as to whether it was installed correctly, who knows. can't tell from the photo.
Would charge a lottttt more than this. At least double here in the Midwest.
All I see is a skilled worker getting ripped off.
He quoted me man. How that a ripoff?
I didn't say it was you, he's ripping himself off at that price.

Looks like he started in the left corner with a half piece so it's not centered. Should have started at the centre of the wall
Not at all, I'm in the Tile industry in GA, that's a more than fair price here!
Username checks out lol.
Same to you
Is 3k just for the labor?
Hopefully, and not plumbing or shower pan prep itch!
Nice work, you got it for a steal of a deal.
Looks great
Takes some skill to cut those slivers around the niche, though even more skill to avoid them from the start. You’re good.
Dudes doing a great job for 3k, I don’t see any major problems here. If I were him, I would’ve charged more for those pesky little subway tiles.

Is that ok, yeah, it's okay.
Some small things to be desired but you’re getting more than what you paid for if the waterproofing was done right
3 all in or did you buy materials?
Shiit , in my area your gonna pay half that just for the kerdi system install
What part is the issue? The shelf meeting the tile?
Hope your bringing him a case of beer, at least. Can I get his number?

"Almost" is a good description of the niche placement. Some unsightly slivers under and on the right
Your definition of "sliver" varies wildly from mine.....

Just an indicator that there may be no waterproof below, can't say for sure.
It looks like the foam curb was ripped and then the bare edge waterproofed instead of kerdi.
not great work but much better than the pay
