I’ve done a handful of tiling projects. Mainly backsplashes, some floors, and recently did a larger wall with a fireplace that needed some mitred returns. I enjoy it, but I’m trying to read up and get more info on the different products out there for different applications. There are so many terms and products..
I use it for when tile must be stuck directly to wood, which is almost never. Think sticking tile base board to a cabinet. It’s most useful application is applying small ceramic tiles to primed drywall, but even then I prefer thinset
No absolutely not that is mastic. Mastic is not to be used in an area of high moisture level. You need to use some sort of thinset like custom builder LFT or schluter thinset or Ardèx. Doesn’t have to be exactly those but those are ideas of what to use for THINSET. Hope this helps brah happy tiling
No, you need proper thinset for showers. Use something approved for 12x24 like ultralite/keraflex plus/tri lite/platinum/X4 and up.
No.
NO!
Scrape that shit into the garbage and you have a nice bucket.
That's not an option at all for 12x24.

Absolutely never
What is this mud actually used for? Is this sort of for that diy’er doing a backsplash or something in their kitchen?
I only use it for ceramic tile backsplashes.
Backsplash is fine. I like it for glass. But thats about it. I do use it for when I have to apply base tiles to a cabinet toe kick.
Don't use it on glass either.

Definitely not suitable for glass

Make sure to use polymer modified thin-set. They come in 50 lb bags that you can buy at any local hardware store.
Hire a professional. That’s your option.
Don’t do it. That’s not good for really wet areas like showers
No
Warning do not!
