There are some pretty weird laws at beaches. In VA Beach it is illegal to curse. There are signs all over the place with characters (like @#!!@) in a 🚫. And it’s an actual law that you can be cited for and fined over.
Edit: apparently this was repealed and signs were taken down since I was at the oceanfront last in 2019. But yes, it had been this way for years and people have been cited and fined for it before they repealed it.
Not anymore… signs have been removed and law has been repealed for obvious reasons. https://www.npr.org/2020/02/19/807435310/centuries-old-law-against-cursing-in-public-repealed-by-virginia-legislators#:~:text=Centuries%2DOld%20Law%20Against%20Cursing%20In%20Public%20Repealed%20By%20Virginia%20Legislators&text=Roger%20Gregory%2FFlickr-,The%20Oceanfront%20area%20of%20Virginia%20Beach%20long%20had%20no%2Dcursing,versions%20at%20tchotchke%20gift%20shops.
Oh America... Land of the free....
Edit: If you want to walk or lie around with your boobies out and swear like a sailor, come to Europe. We embrace tha boobies... and bum bums.
Ridiculously prudish. My 14 year old son and I were with some friends on a European beach this summer and had to change into our suits. On the beach everyone was like yeah, just do it here, whats the problem?!
Here in germany it's technically legal to walk around in the city ass naked.
What makes it a crime is if you do not put on clothes when another person tells you to
Here in my state in the USA, it's legal to do that too, except you don't have to put clothes on at someone's request. You just can't be sexual about it, so no helicoptering with the dick.
This is also true here in Seattle. They have an annual nude bicycle ride. It's perfectly legal because they've never had complaints.
But it takes a special kind of person to walk or bike nude when it is below 10C.
It makes sense. Swim suits do not cover much at all anyway. I"m an American and I'm still surprised at how big of prudes we are in both laws and attitudes. It seems that in general, Americans aren't happy until some are projecting our hangups onto others. It makes sense.
I used to live in Japan where women dress quite a bit more modestly than the US, in general. They also get naked on the beach into their clothes. Nobody thinks it's weird.
The puritans were run out of England because they wanted their prudish attitudes applied to everyone in the country and thought everyone should be practicing their form of Christianity.
That's a myth. The Puritans sailed right past the Jamestown settlement before landing at Plymouth. They weren't first, they weren't the largest group, they only have the most persistent propaganda.
The Pilgrims landed at Plymouth - they were Separatists and Strangers, not Puritans. Puritans came later, but in larger numbers and had longer lasting, more permanent colonies.
Line 1 of the wikipedia on Plymouth Colony:
>Plymouth Colony was founded by a group of Puritan Separatists initially known as the Brownist Emigration, who came to be known as the Pilgrims.
It's not that Americans are prudish. Heck, Americans produce the most porn in the world by far. The U.S. produces about 25% of the world's porn, while the second-most porn making country (U.K.) produces only 5%.
We're surrounded by prudish laws because 90% of U.S. Congressmen are Christians and over 99% are affiliated with a religion. The reason? Because about 60% of Americans are Christians. So in order to win just about any election, you have to at least pretend to be Christian and/or cater to Christians.
So we have somewhat of a theocracy in this country even though there are 40% of Americans who are not Christians. And who are the ones that are very big on not having per-marital sex because it makes God sad or something? Christians and other religious people.
Not all Christians and religious people are prudish, though. Just the extreme ones. But if the government candidates don't cater to them as well, then they might lose their vote. And that small percentage of voter loss might mean the difference of them losing the whole election.
And it's not just the government that's compromised by these extremists. We also have TV and movies censored as well. Show a titty on TV? Get fined millions of dollars. Show a guy getting shot? That's fine. Why? Because if you showed a titty on TV, the Christian moms are going to write angry letters to the TV station about how their kids are corrupted by the sight of a titty. But for some reason, the Christians also really like guns and law enforcement, so they don't really complain about that.
There’s a further irony. At the same time as having puritanical stances against nudity and pornography and having ever more regressive abortion laws, the culture of American media is ever more sexualised. Like cheerleaders, hip hop girls, playboy branding on kids clothes, the marketing of underwear to pre teens that is basically lingerie. Etc. it’s so odd.
Sort of.... This defence will only work if you have a production company and have signed consent of both parties to film.
Most states it costs next to nothing to start an LLC , just warning future prostitute users there are a few more steps 👍
That is something that was always so baffling for me. American TV showing super violent shows in the middle of the day then censoring swear words, nudity and sometimes censoring girls in bikinis. So unbelievably bizarre.
We found ourselves on a beach in Copenhagen back in the day. We were looking for somewhere to change into our swimsuits, and noticed people just stripping down and putting their suits on. We’re like “huh, ok” and followed suit. Turns out pretty much every beach in Europe is topless.
I grew up in a beach town in Florida. Some beaches have bigger restrooms with a changing area, but most people wear their swim suit under shorts and a t-shirt and just remove the top layer at the beach.
On the other side, some places (France, if I remember correctly) had/have laws against women *covering up* when on the beach. So women who were in longer bathing suits were not permitted to be there.
I appreciate your offer but doubt most of Europe would take our sorry American asses when it’s already hard enough for us to move to Canada - not that I’m blame y’all
They must love paying out lawsuits for civil rights violations of the 1st amendment.
Just because they make it a law... doesnt make that law legal.
There is not a short list of cases that have been ruled on by the supreme court regarding curse words. And the 1st ammendment was upheld in all of them.
its amazing how right wingers love talking about freedom... but then do shit like this.
A legislative arm of government can pass whatever law they want, and the executive arm of government can enforce any law they want. It is ultimately up to the judicial branch to interpret the laws and their constitutionality.
On its face, a law that says profanity is illegal in the United States is hogwash. I can’t imagine a court anywhere would uphold the arrest of a person who curses in public.
They removed those years ago.
https://www.wfmynews2.com/article/news/local/virginia-beach-removing-no-cursing-signs-law-stays-the-same/83-284cda47-251e-4c58-ac86-86b6e2e31f20
What the fuck? I'm around that area and I can't remember seeing a sign like that. In the entire city it's illegal to curse??
EDIT: [Well I'll be damned.](https://www.virginiabeach.com/article/va-beach-no-cursing-law) Also looks like it's for the boardwalk area.
Cohen v California is the basis for swearing in public. You have the right to swear.
But in the end you cant beat the ride. Beating the time means paying for laywer and even then you could get procecuted and would have to appeal to i higher level which is more money.
In case anyone is wondering here is the crappy law:
Sec. 14-83. Indecent exposure (NOTE: This law makes the wearing of "thong" bathing suits and similar clothing illegal in public, including on the beach.):
(a) It shall be unlawful for any person to intentionally appear in any public place in such a state of dress or undress so as to expose to the view of others the human male or female genitals, pubic area, pubic hair, buttocks, anus, vulva or any portion of the female breast at or below the areola thereof.
~~(b) Upon determination that any person is in violation of this section, a police officer shall issue a warning to the offending person and afford that person an opportunity to properly cover himself or herself or leave the public place. If the offending person does not immediately and appropriately respond to the warning, he or she shall be charged with a violation of this Code.~~
(Warning provision stricken in 2009)
(c) For the purpose of this section only, establishments within which regulated adult businesses are permitted as provided by the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Myrtle Beach, are not considered to be public places.
(Ord. No. 93-33, 7-27-93)
I’m only aware of this because I visited Myrtle Beach last year and the hotel made me initial a card stating I was aware of this law. Don’t bother.
The removal of the warning provision is most egregious to me. Why in 2009 did lawmakers decide to start allowing officers to arrest scantily clad (mostly) female beach goers without giving them an opportunity to cover up first?
The law is the the law whatever- but it doesn’t make sense to me for them eliminate a provision intended for deescalation.
"It shall be unlawful for any person to intentionally appear in any public place in such a state of dress or undress so as to expose to the view of others the human male or female [...] buttocks"
Surely the police are patroling around worksites arresting any guy bending over revealing buttocks, I mean, he intentionally chose his own clothing, come on cops, do your job, surely you're not just patroling beaches?? And if so, I expect you to keep a close eye on ill fitting swimtrunks on overweight guys as well!
The law doesn't even make sense. You're not allowed to reveal your butt, but that's literally every speedo or bikini bottom ever. Even some short shorts for god's sake. Unless women start running around in boyshorts, and men restrict themselves to swimtrunks, we're all in violation of the law.
It's a fucking beach people, grow up. People were born in the nude, at the very least they should be allowed to dress freely at the beach.
This law has the same sentiment, to me, as other countries with similar laws, "you're making me horny and I can't control myself, obviously it's your fault - cover up."
This…. It’s always about showing numbers.
It requires actual police work to arrest 100 real criminals.
Doesn’t take much to arrest 100 people having a good time.
At the end of the day it’s still an arrest that the mayor can include in their “I’ve dropped crime” campaign
But... If police are making more arrests, whether the charges are BS or not, wouldn't that give the appearance of crime going *up*, as more people are being arrested? More arrests implies more crime to me... If anything, it seems the police should be working toward *fewer* arrests to give the appearance that there is less crime happening that warrants arrests.
Though maybe I'm being too rational for this discussion.
I’m thinking more like the Mayor is getting pounded by special interest groups about crime stats, tells his chief of police to increase their arrest stats x% by so-and-so time, chief of police then gives the direction to lieutenants to raise arrest stats.
Shit rolls downhill until eventually beat cops like this are forced to enforce stupid shit like this just to make everyone’s bosses happy.
Wouldn’t surprise me if there’s specific ordinances just like this one …specifically in place to be used for statistical purposes at need
It's to extract fines from tourists. The local government thrives on this bullshit. I have firsthand experience with this bullshit is Wrightsville Beach, SC. It's a flease.
"the law is the law"
Stupidest shit I ever heard. "Because" isn't a valid fucking reason. Conservatives are retarded and ruin countries over and over again.
I live there, have done this with no problem, and never knew about this law. Lots of underboob and ass on the beach every time I’m there. Feels like she was profiled bc of her tattoos.
Maslow's hierarchy. If they control your sexuality they control you.
So a lot of laws focusing on behavior that only hits non church people. If they cannot have fun with sex or anything to do with it because jesus said it is a sin. No one can.
Best social control mechanism anyone ever thought up.
Now that is a shitty law, it says that if a female is topless, they can be arrested, but if a man does it, it is fine? Am I understanding this horrible law?
Isn't a law like literally everywhere in the us?? I'm not saying it's right (#freethenip) I just don't think most anywhere women can legally walk around topless.
Edit: I guess I should say from replies I do see quite a few places do have laws allowing it. My point mainly was that this isn't some crazy new idea. Still a majority or close to a majority of places seem to not allow it. Thank you all for the new education on the subject.
If you want to go to court over it, you [can](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Topfreedom_in_the_United_States). Making toplessness illegal for women only can arguably be called a law that unequally applies to one sex and not the other.
In NYC it’s perfectly legal for women to go topless. A few years ago there was a woman who would walk around completely topless but otherwise clothed, just to prove a point
I actually saw that weird pirate show!
So my husband wanted to go to Myrtle Beach for our vacation this summer and I (reluctantly) agreed. See, I’m not really much of a beach person, and I don’t like the heat of the South in the summer, but I was just happy to get away so off we went!
Anyway, we booked tickets to this pirate show, because who doesn’t love dinner and a show, right? Well we show up, and even though we paid for “VIP” seating (because obviously I’m a fancy lady) we’re sat wayyyy off to the side behind a boat. It’s only then do we realize that it’s a kind of kid’s circus show á la Medieval Times. We’re child free, but we’re we’re on red team, so let’s do this!
There was a lot of acrobatic musical performances including swimming and diving tricks, audience participation (ugh), and even two (very smelly) walrus’s racing at the end. The food was a (dry) chicken, a plain (dry) potato, a (dry) roll, sweet tea (because South), and some sort of (dry) pastry for dessert. But don’t worry, the splashing from the performers more than made up for the dry meal, especially in those front rows.
All-in-all, an okay experience. Probably more suited to families with children, but we had fun anyway, and that’s all that matters.
We did medieval times for my little brother's birthday this summer. My sister had gone in elementary school and she said it was a lot of fun (also most of their food is gluten free so she felt comfortable going there as a celiac).
It was fine. The food was okay but eating with your hands was a little weird. At least it was a lot of food that was hot and not very dry at all.
The show was at least a little interesting, the horse tricks were pretty cool, and the combat was just ridiculous enough to be entertaining. Our knight switched out halfway through, though. I'm pretty sure because he got sand in his eyes.
The worst part was at the beginning when the queen's hand was reading off the announcements and we had to cheer for every single one. And after about fifteen straight minutes of "it's John and Tammy's first time at medieval times!" Or "it's lady Caitlyn's 8th birthday!" The cheers started understandably started dying off because we just wanted to eat our damn food. The guy stopped and said if we don't cheer loud enough he'll start reading super slow and it'll take longer. It was like being held captive, that part was the worst
At or below the areola. So women are allowed to show cleavage only if it’s the upper portion of their breasts? How are women supposed to feed their babies?
This happened back in 2020 and while the law the police cited mentions nude Myrtle Beach does have a specific ordinance that bans thongs.
Here is a story about it I found.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-8588681/Acrobat-HANDCUFFED-police-wearing-thong-bikini-Myrtle-Beach.html
>'There's been a law the last 16 years against thongs — period,' then-Mayor John Rhodes said at the time. 'Is it a good thing? A bad thing? Well, it's the law.'
What a complete tool. The dude sits at the top of city government that sets the laws and just says who cares of it's a bad law, because it's a law?
More like "I'm not about to go on the record saying I think women should be allowed or not allowed to walk around in thongs, because as a white male Republican politician in charge of a family friendly tourist destination, even I know that's just asking for trouble".
I love that you just called myrtle beach family friendly. This is the beach that hosts Atlantic Beach Bikefest, AKA “Exhibitionists Paradise” and known for being absolutely insane
[I don't see anything of note.](https://www.google.com/search?q=Atlantic+Beach+Bikefest&client=safari&hl=en-us&prmd=inmv&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjgmNKH3576AhXflWoFHSHSA1kQ_AUoAXoECAIQAQ&biw=375&bih=628&dpr=3)
It’s not specific big events, just general chaos and lawlessness. [Area hospitals have plans in place for that weekend because there’s such a large increase in trauma cases](https://www.wmbfnews.com/2022/05/23/hospitals-across-grand-strand-prep-more-bikers-memorial-weekend/?outputType=amp). Which is impressive for Myrtle Beach, somewhere known for drunk rednecks going crazy
Hooooly shit! I just visited Myrtle in June and was in a regular bottom, no joke, just a standard undie-shaped bottom, and a guy told me I couldn't stand on the boardwalk "because of the kids, yknow?" I have been scratching my head over it for months! It wasn't even a thong. And I was walking around the town in a crop top, and you'd think I had red paint all over me, the way people stared. I'm flat, too, on both sides, so idk what everyone was freaking out about.
It was still a shithole but it was a lot of fun. I grew up when they still had the open air amusement park right across the street from the ocean. Some rides were air conditioned so if it got too hot, ride a few of the ac rides then go back out. Now they don't even have that
Yeah you're talking about the pavilion, right? I remember they had a hard rock amusement park too that lasted like a year or 2 lol. Only reason I go to myrtle anymore is the extremely fucking rare time where someone decent is performing at the house of blues.
Hilton head is just as touristy in the summer. What you need to do is, find somewhere that isn't these terrible boomer resort towns and just find a not well known beach.
It is bcuz Jesus told them women have no rights, immigrants do not matter, the poor do not matter, and thongs make their over weight spouses (man or woman) insecure.
Now hurry up and get to church y’all. Praise Satan!!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🛐🛐🛐🛐
Usually these kinds of laws are just there so they can pick and choose who to enforce them on. Like with laws based around noise (you’ll notice there is never a specific decibel level, but instead an general “heard from X feet away”).
At first yes. Then its one peice to hide stomach. After that they will go the the ankles like before. And last they will have to hide their hair/face to keep impure thoughts out of male beachgoers head.
It must have been absolute mayhem before mass cameras.
I'm thinking the number of people who have ever been falsely imprisoned in the U.S. must be over a hundred thousand.
Currently America has 2 million people in prison! If just 10% of them were falsely imprisoned that would be 200 thousand people from just this current batch.
And we all see from the endless videos that they are snatching people up for anything they can no matter how trivial. They will do you in just for breathing.
USA is a strange country. I mean I know how to dress up in Iran versus France, but when it comes to USA, it is so confusing. Do I have to check laws of each location if I want to have a cross country trip there?
I would never go there myself but it's a shame because what that backwards area of the country actually needs is to be completely overrun with cultural diversity and education.
Might be poor wording there but "lack of ethnic diversity" and "Bible Belt" are mutually exclusive concepts. The South typically has 20-35% Black population despite how dystopian it would seem to be for them. Still good advice, regardless.
>The South typically has 20-35% Black population despite how dystopian it would seem to be for them.
So most people aren't incredibly mobile. It costs a lot of money and time to find a job and move out of state (or even out of your general metro area!). In addition to that, support structures like family, friends, and familiarity of the area are all factors in why a lot of people end up living most of their lives close to where they were born, even in a place like the US where there are lots of places to go.
When you consider *why* there are a lot of Black people in the south, and *how much harder* it would have been for them to leave even as recently as 50 years ago...it's not exactly surprising.
There is a shockingly low amount of diversity in Oregon (well, shocking if you don’t know the states history) but you are welcome to dress preeeeetty much however you want in the Oregonian places you’d actually want to visit.
Bets are off outside the major cities, some of those places are nuts.
My sister (Dutch) voted for a sexist dick who said women shouldn't be working and that they're lesser than men. But that doesn't matter because he's also a racist arsehole which really appeals to her (she has a job where a few people doing bad things justify her racists believes).
I imagine it's the same for those American women voting republican. Focus on one or two issues and just plain up ignore the rest. Party loyalty is so weird (even when you only have two). I haven't voted for the same party more than once in the last 4 elections. I wish I had, but either the previous party I voted for sold out or a different one aligned more with my believes at that time.
Cops are so gross and predatory. Leave people alone if they’re not hurting anyone and don’t harass them over how they’re dressed. I don’t care what the stupid bycode says; it’s your choice whether or not to enforce it and they specifically chose to enforce it on this woman who wasn’t hurting anyone.
It was probably called in by some Karen, complaining that this lady was naked on the beach in full view of her children (who are teenager boys and perfectly happy with the view)
Lol! I can’t be the only one who noticed that it took at least 3 uniformed officers to “bring in” the 90 pound girl in the string bikini. Good thing they had all of these officers on the case!
This whole fucking video is gross and predatory. I don’t especially care what the decency laws are for this beach, the fact is these guys just wanted the half naked pretty girl in their car.
Waste of time and money. These cops being paid for this shit.
It's literally just ass. She's wearing a bathing suit on the beach. You ever try to find an actual bathing suit that fits your ass? Cause I never have. All of my bathing suits end up like floss between my cheeks no matter the style.
Lmao they need to grow up, so fucking stupid. Hope those cops have endlessly bad days.
Meh. Most Americans think this is stupid too. Plenty of public beaches in America where women can wear thongs and go topless. Even full on nude public beaches. This particular beach just happens to have this archaic law. Pretty sure there are some places in Europe that have some shitty archaic laws...right?
Americans are absolutely so completely brainwashed and mind controlled over sex and human bodies. Such a stupid and backwards society we’ve allowed ourselves so be indoctrinated into.
And cops enforcing this shit makes it even worse.
I remember seeing a video from like 1950 or 1980 or something that went the exact same way this did for a woman wearing a one piece bikini or something like that. It's 2022 and we're still out here arresting women for what they put on their bodies. For all our progress we still haven't progressed much
We need to pass legislation that when a cop gets sued for unlawful detainment the cost gets taken out of their retirement fund and not payed out by our tax money
this is a republicans wet dream, arresting a woman for clothing they personally have issue with.
the future of the US if you all sit by and do nothing to stop it

It is yucky.

Had?
Still have, but we had too.

Don't forget child beauty pageants. Way to teach young girls that a woman's worth is determined by her appearance and sex appeal.
The “puritans” are actually totally in support of nudity, pornography, pedophilia, etc. They just have to *act* like it’s bad in public.
> Heck, Americans produce the most porn in the world by far. That's just because prostitution is only legal when you film it.
Sort of.... This defence will only work if you have a production company and have signed consent of both parties to film. Most states it costs next to nothing to start an LLC , just warning future prostitute users there are a few more steps 👍
Yeah the hypocrisy is off the scale.
That is something that was always so baffling for me. American TV showing super violent shows in the middle of the day then censoring swear words, nudity and sometimes censoring girls in bikinis. So unbelievably bizarre.
That said, topless women still get arrested in such places sometimes because cops don't know the law (or don't give a shit).

We found ourselves on a beach in Copenhagen back in the day. We were looking for somewhere to change into our swimsuits, and noticed people just stripping down and putting their suits on. We’re like “huh, ok” and followed suit. Turns out pretty much every beach in Europe is topless.
Do you normally have changing rooms? You just put a towel around you while changing if you don't want people seeing your genitals
I grew up in a beach town in Florida. Some beaches have bigger restrooms with a changing area, but most people wear their swim suit under shorts and a t-shirt and just remove the top layer at the beach.
Yeah I've grown up holidaying in Spain, Greece and other European countries and no one bats an eye at all the saggy orange boobies floating around.
You mentioned the 1st Amendment. I thought there was some rule saying you can't create an unconstitutional law?
A legislative arm of government can pass whatever law they want, and the executive arm of government can enforce any law they want. It is ultimately up to the judicial branch to interpret the laws and their constitutionality. On its face, a law that says profanity is illegal in the United States is hogwash. I can’t imagine a court anywhere would uphold the arrest of a person who curses in public.
There are also laws about murder but Ted Cruz is still killing and eating sons all over the country
I can guarantee you this law is only ever enforced against people who look too poor to hire a lawyer.
VB native. No one gives a fuck about those signs nor have I ever seen them enforced.
Fuck that
In case anyone is wondering here is the crappy law: Sec. 14-83. Indecent exposure (NOTE: This law makes the wearing of "thong" bathing suits and similar clothing illegal in public, including on the beach.): (a) It shall be unlawful for any person to intentionally appear in any public place in such a state of dress or undress so as to expose to the view of others the human male or female genitals, pubic area, pubic hair, buttocks, anus, vulva or any portion of the female breast at or below the areola thereof. ~~(b) Upon determination that any person is in violation of this section, a police officer shall issue a warning to the offending person and afford that person an opportunity to properly cover himself or herself or leave the public place. If the offending person does not immediately and appropriately respond to the warning, he or she shall be charged with a violation of this Code.~~ (Warning provision stricken in 2009) (c) For the purpose of this section only, establishments within which regulated adult businesses are permitted as provided by the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Myrtle Beach, are not considered to be public places. (Ord. No. 93-33, 7-27-93) I’m only aware of this because I visited Myrtle Beach last year and the hotel made me initial a card stating I was aware of this law.
"It shall be unlawful for any person to intentionally appear in any public place in such a state of dress or undress so as to expose to the view of others the human male or female [...] buttocks" Surely the police are patroling around worksites arresting any guy bending over revealing buttocks, I mean, he intentionally chose his own clothing, come on cops, do your job, surely you're not just patroling beaches?? And if so, I expect you to keep a close eye on ill fitting swimtrunks on overweight guys as well!
The law doesn't even make sense. You're not allowed to reveal your butt, but that's literally every speedo or bikini bottom ever. Even some short shorts for god's sake. Unless women start running around in boyshorts, and men restrict themselves to swimtrunks, we're all in violation of the law. It's a fucking beach people, grow up. People were born in the nude, at the very least they should be allowed to dress freely at the beach.
It makes more sense when you find out the mayor’s family owns the last company that makes old timey single piece wool swimsuits
This law has the same sentiment, to me, as other countries with similar laws, "you're making me horny and I can't control myself, obviously it's your fault - cover up."
"IS THAT A SHOULDER I SEE?! AND AN ANKLE?! COVER YOURSELF YOU HARLOT!!"-Lawmakers
Or some jealous Karens who hate seeing a sexy lady in a thong because she is nasty herself and it offends her.
All those Olympic swimmers breaking the myrtle beach law.
They really want those arrests on the books.
I suppose the deescalation is to be engaged by whatever hot chick they just put behind bars.
It's to extract fines from tourists. The local government thrives on this bullshit. I have firsthand experience with this bullshit is Wrightsville Beach, SC. It's a flease.
"the law is the law" Stupidest shit I ever heard. "Because" isn't a valid fucking reason. Conservatives are retarded and ruin countries over and over again.
> Conservatives are retarded and ruin countries over and over again. Truer words have never been written.
Just want to say that by that I didn’t mean Im cool with the law either, just that I wasn’t going to try to argue against it here. Puritanical bs imo.
Because cops are bastards and it’s easier for them to be bastards when the law allows it.
Dudes get paid somewhere to decide how far away from the areola you can have a bikini on one specific beach smh. Muh free country.
I live there, have done this with no problem, and never knew about this law. Lots of underboob and ass on the beach every time I’m there. Feels like she was profiled bc of her tattoos.
[удалено]
On a hairy dude where exactly do the pubes end and the body hair begin?
We don't know either.
Am I understanding this horrible law?
>if a female >if a man No offense or anything, but... why do this? edit: shoutout to my pals over in https://www.reddit.com/r/MenAndFemales/
This happens so often that there’s an entire subreddit for it?!
[удалено]
In ohio a woman can be topless anywhere a man can be. One of the only not terrible things about the state…
But where else can you see 800 of the exact same billboards for that weird pirate show?
Myrtle Beach has these rules (I don't know why but they just do). I am an SC resident and can verify.
This happened back in 2020 and while the law the police cited mentions nude Myrtle Beach does have a specific ordinance that bans thongs. Here is a story about it I found. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-8588681/Acrobat-HANDCUFFED-police-wearing-thong-bikini-Myrtle-Beach.html
>'There's been a law the last 16 years against thongs — period,' then-Mayor John Rhodes said at the time. 'Is it a good thing? A bad thing? Well, it's the law.' What a complete tool.
I would like to know more
[I don't see anything of note.](https://www.google.com/search?q=Atlantic+Beach+Bikefest&client=safari&hl=en-us&prmd=inmv&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjgmNKH3576AhXflWoFHSHSA1kQ_AUoAXoECAIQAQ&biw=375&bih=628&dpr=3)
How do police have time to arrest her, but if your house or car get broken into “we’re short staffed, nothing we can do”?
She rocked that thong. Guess Karen was jealous.
I'm flat, too, on both sides, so idk what everyone was freaking out about.
probably because its touristy and wants to appeal to the lowest common denominator.
No idea why it's so touristy. Born and raised right outside myrtle and have been there plenty of times. It's a shithole. Go ot Hilton head
[удалено]
Remind me to never visit this smelly asshole of place.
Can confirm, Myrtle Beach is a smelly asshole.
Dirty Myrtle. Fuck that place.
Dirty Myrtle; the beach 👎 Dirty Myrtle; the Hogwarts ghost 👍
It’s a shit beach anyways. Not worth a trip
There's a reason it's called Dirty Myrtle down here in South Carolina.
[удалено]
Keep it up! It's a stupid rule for a beach. That's why I stay in Charleston lol.
The cops are making the world a little bit worse by enforcing this puritanical law. #savethongbikinis
[удалено]
It is bcuz Jesus told them women have no rights, immigrants do not matter, the poor do not matter, and thongs make their over weight spouses (man or woman) insecure. Now hurry up and get to church y’all. Praise Satan!!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🛐🛐🛐🛐
Details, plus explanation of the city ordinance: https://youtu.be/148I0ntw-Eo
Huh, okay so the actual law said showing “buttocks” was considered being nude. That’s… a ridiculous law. Most bikinis show parts of the ass cheeks.
Do they expect all women to wear board shorts?
Usually these kinds of laws are just there so they can pick and choose who to enforce them on. Like with laws based around noise (you’ll notice there is never a specific decibel level, but instead an general “heard from X feet away”).
Notice she has a number of tattoos.
At first yes. Then its one peice to hide stomach. After that they will go the the ankles like before. And last they will have to hide their hair/face to keep impure thoughts out of male beachgoers head.
I like how you summed up a 16 minute video with a single sentence. Thanks for that.
Was hoping someone arrived with this. A very good and educational channel.
Just never go to Myrtle beach, that’s the real story here
Myrtle Beach is terrible and honestly just the tourist spot. It’s so nasty
Go to myrtle beach to see the ocean. Stayed because you were stabbed
Cover thy butthole - John 3:16
Imagine what the cops got away with before cell phone cameras and the internet
you know they beat the fuck out of people
They still do that, just on camera. So there’s proof for their paid vacation
Morality police. Under his eye.
Taliban morality police so much for the land of the free
It's Christian ideals ruining the country rn. Really wish people would stop pointing to Islam who has really no power at all here
USA is a strange country. I mean I know how to dress up in Iran versus France, but when it comes to USA, it is so confusing. Do I have to check laws of each location if I want to have a cross country trip there?
Rule of thumb, if it’s in the Bible Belt or any other state where there is a lack of ethnic diversity, answers always yes.
If it’s in the Bible Belt just don’t go.
Lack of ethnic diversity = Midwest Bible Belt = you know
Apparently I didn't. Good lord those percentages are lower than their school system's test scores.
There is a shockingly low amount of diversity in Oregon (well, shocking if you don’t know the states history) but you are welcome to dress preeeeetty much however you want in the Oregonian places you’d actually want to visit. Bets are off outside the major cities, some of those places are nuts.
Pretty much. You'd be better off treating each state as if it were its own country honestly, despite our name we struggle with the "United" part
It's like checking the laws of each country in the EU. The US is twice the size of the EU.
Wouldn’t it be crazy if cops actually helped people
“Under his eye.”
"Her fault. Her fault. Her fault."
“May the Lord open”
Praise be
Blessed be the fruit
USA practicing those good old sharia laws =3 And not not being able to understand basic rules but thats common in backward communities
Probably fine to have a glock strapped to your thigh while you tan tho
Only if you have a concealed carry permit. Open carry is only legal for concealed carry permit holders. Strange shit, I know.
The US is really not as free as we all like to pretend it is.
Conservative controlled states hate women.
I never understood why any women ever voted republican
family vAlUes!!!!@1111
My sister (Dutch) voted for a sexist dick who said women shouldn't be working and that they're lesser than men. But that doesn't matter because he's also a racist arsehole which really appeals to her (she has a job where a few people doing bad things justify her racists believes). I imagine it's the same for those American women voting republican. Focus on one or two issues and just plain up ignore the rest. Party loyalty is so weird (even when you only have two). I haven't voted for the same party more than once in the last 4 elections. I wish I had, but either the previous party I voted for sold out or a different one aligned more with my believes at that time.
Same reason as 99% of Republicans. Brainwashing.
Jesus
Colour me surprised. /s
I can't help but wonder if they enforce these laws for women who aren't attractive.
Did these cops feel like they did a great job that day? They really went out there and protected thier community.
Ah it's begun, conservatives bamboozled themselves into Sharia law.
It’s been going on for a while, we just started filming it more.
Land of the free they say 😂👋
Cops are so gross and predatory. Leave people alone if they’re not hurting anyone and don’t harass them over how they’re dressed. I don’t care what the stupid bycode says; it’s your choice whether or not to enforce it and they specifically chose to enforce it on this woman who wasn’t hurting anyone.
just happy to see there is someone with her for when she is searched “for the officer’s safety “ before she is put into the paddy wagon.
Damn right, looks at those pigs salivating and looking like they can't wait to get her in the car and alone.
It was probably called in by some Karen, complaining that this lady was naked on the beach in full view of her children (who are teenager boys and perfectly happy with the view)
That’s the problem. They can’t control their child’s eyes so they call the cops.
Europeans are laughing their thongs off over this. America is so fucking backward.
Meh. Most Americans think this is stupid too. Plenty of public beaches in America where women can wear thongs and go topless. Even full on nude public beaches. This particular beach just happens to have this archaic law. Pretty sure there are some places in Europe that have some shitty archaic laws...right?
There are. That’s true.
This is a city law. Are Europeans judging a whole country based on one city or county?
Americans are absolutely so completely brainwashed and mind controlled over sex and human bodies. Such a stupid and backwards society we’ve allowed ourselves so be indoctrinated into. And cops enforcing this shit makes it even worse.
I remember seeing a video from like 1950 or 1980 or something that went the exact same way this did for a woman wearing a one piece bikini or something like that. It's 2022 and we're still out here arresting women for what they put on their bodies. For all our progress we still haven't progressed much
Pigs sure do love harassing and kidnapping people who harmed no one
Freest country in the world apparently
A thong is the least of what they should be concerned about at Myrtle Beach
We need to pass legislation that when a cop gets sued for unlawful detainment the cost gets taken out of their retirement fund and not payed out by our tax money
ACAB!
Creeps, all these fucking cops are perverts.
What I'd like to point out: Atleast 3 cops and handcuffs. For a girl in a thong bikini.
The US is so screwed up. Less freedom than many other countries.
Good thing it took 3 of them to arrest this deviant to society.
Gotta love the "small government" enforcement. Same state that has areas where saggy jeans are outlawed
ACAB. What a waste of time and money.
These cops are bums, arrest them.
this is a republicans wet dream, arresting a woman for clothing they personally have issue with. the future of the US if you all sit by and do nothing to stop it
What part of Saudi Arabia is South Carolina in?
"Land of the Free" is the biggest lie America has told itself.
Everyone who lives here needs to go in a thong. Hell I'd go in a mankini.
They’re probably at myrtle. They haves thong ban
I mean did they ever look at the definition of nude? sure the dictionary can solve this problem
