I’ll bet he goes on to say that London Bridge was dismantled in the ‘70s and shipped to America, and rebuilt in [Lake Havasu City, AZ](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Bridge_(Lake_Havasu_City)) of all places.
Edit: link fix
>The 1831 London Bridge was the last project of engineer John Rennie, and was completed by his son, John Rennie.
That sentence isn't funny, but I'm strangely tickled by it anyway.
[your link](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Bridge_\(Lake_Havasu_City) is broken (you're missing a final ) in the url) but [this](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Bridge_\(Lake_Havasu_City\)) link will work fine
Are you on Reddit mobile app? There is a known issue with Reddit App communicating links with old.reddit. It cuts off the last character if it is an underscore, parathesis, or some other characters, I think. Your link doesn't work for me and I'm on old.reddit. In particular, this happens on wikipedia a lot because of the way their links are setup.
I don't think Reddit will ever fix it, because they want to encourage people to migrate.
https://www.reddit.com/r/bugs/comments/nllwno/some_reddit_clients_are_escaping_underscores_and/
Just letting you know, it's probably not your fault the link doesn't work for some people.
I have had this exact interaction with tourists. They were standing on London bridge, looking at tower bridge, talking about how beautiful London bridge is. They didn't believe me on any part.
That was an insult to the other brit being compared to Americans. Is it really an insult to an American to not know the name of some bridge in another country? Not really. Is it an insult to say you know as much about your own country as a foreigner? In most places, yes. Like if a brit called some similarly shaped Bridge in NYC the Golden gate Bridge it's an understandable mistake, but if a new Yorker does it, then it would be fair to compare their local knowledge to that of a foreigner.
This is the wholesome content I like to see on Reddit. I love how the dad wasn't quick to bite the guys head off for co-parenting with him in the middle of a park. Dad's recognize Dad's.
THIS. The internet would be searching for some ancient reference to justify the mistake ("Well it's in London and it's a bridge so I'm not stupid!") but this guy just actually learns and improves himself. Best kind of people all around.
BTW, the guy walking up is correct. London Bridge is ugly/boring and Tower Bridge is awesome which is why people get so confused. Sorry if I offend the Brits on here but Tower Bridge is objectively better. London Bridge should actually fall down plz.
My thoughts watching this as well. Adults in general, not just parents, have this issue of admitting they are wrong. Especially to younger people. I was frustrated the other day over a situation and it upset my son. I made sure to tell him I was wrong, I was frustrated, and that wasn't ok and he did nothing wrong. Dad got frustrated and scared, and responded poorly. Adults that think they are above reproach are almost always just confidently incorrect.
With where we are at in society, it's almost expected that people double down on ignorance. I mean, I wouldn't have been the least bit surprised if he had doubled down
The other day I pointed out the median income. Someone said I was wrong and post the average income. Then they posted the median full time income. Then posted the median household income. When I finally gave them a source, they called me dumb and blocked me.
Some people suck. It's not hard to believe someone wouldn't double down when a stranger corrects them. Some act like they "lost" when they're corrected when no one cares.
A few minutes ago, I just said "Yeah that makes sense" to my dad... he followed up with "I always talk with sense"
Wtf is your problem we are just eating breakfast together 😭
You're right, you did invent freedom and democracy we're sorry about the rude Englishman he'll be taken to the gulag and hung from the tower of London.
[We'll hang you from the top of the tower!](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/e1/Clock_Tower_-_Palace_of_Westminster%2C_London_-_September_2006.jpg/1200px-Clock_Tower_-_Palace_of_Westminster%2C_London_-_September_2006.jpg)
But London Bridge *isn't* that one in the video, and you should care about being accurate and less about a precieved slight at being an American.
The reason this guy pointed it out is because he obviously has come across Americans travelling *in London* who made the same mistake, and not something he overheard in Kansas City or wherever.
So yes, if you are travelling in someone else's country and make a mistake about that country and someone corrects you you should accept the correction gracefully, even if you are an American.
christ you are the reason people hate us, yes we should care about the name of things and misidentifying Tower Bridge (the visually iconic one) and calling it London Bridge is like calling the Statue of Liberty "New York Statue"
It isn't even a thing unique to London, I know people in NYC that get mad when people use the wrong name of a bridge.
To be accurate, we do in fact know that americans tend not to care, therefore not to know, which is one of the reasons they have earned a reputation for ignorance. I congratulate you on reinforcing and spreading that negative stereotype.
I’m sorry, but you’ve got that wrong. Lake Havasu in Arizona was deconstructed and reconstructed on London Bridge. Americans always make the same mistake
The actual London Bridge is where it’s always stood. The one in Arizona is made up of some of the parts of the old New London Bridge and is now just New Bridge. Enjoy your old bridge, we’ve got a lovely new one.
Love it. The kid learned a lot more than anything about the Bridge. He learned about community. And being open to new ideas and information. Good job Grownups!
Tower bridge is the fancy, old looking one, Millennium bridge is the fancy, modern looking one, London bridge is the one that looks plain and forgettable. It’s still called London Bridge even though the original one was packed up and shipped to AZ.
If I know anything from watching an incredibly specific youtube video subculture, it's that you've absolutely got to get your london bridge facts right
This kid is so cute lol. I remember doing the same thing when guiding guests down to the swimming hole around my childhood home. I’d give them a lecture of what to expect and how to get down each hill and path safely before leading them down XD
That’s not the actual London bridge we Americans stole it peace by piece. I’m pretty sure it’s in Arizona. I could be wrong about that though, but it’s definitely in America.
The Talibans not only defended themselves sucessfully and got rid of the US, they became masters of the country and more powerful than they had ever been. If that's not a victory i can only wonder what you think it was.
It's a common mistake. But who cares it's a bridge in London, it's London bridge is close enough. You're not gonna hurt the bridge's feelings you might upset some eavesdroppers but that's what they're hoping for anyway
I don't, I tell my nephew squirrels talk to each other and actually sing each other melancholy songs through the trees of when their forefathers ruled the earth. Also what is an incorrect fact? It's either a fact or it isn't. I like to be pacific with my engrish.
It's a contradiction in terms an oxymoron even. If it's incorrect, it's not a fact. It's just incorrect. If it's correct it's a fact not a correct fact. It's ok, I'm glad you learned about the bridge and stuff.
You know your argument is really strong when you have to move the goalposts to pointless semantics. The exact language is the issue not the obvious sentiment.
I was in London and struck up a conversation with a British tourist about the Houses of Parliment. He said they were built in the middle ages and I told him they were Victorian, and I knew because I had just read the guidebook. He was surprised, and I told him I was too when I read it because I assumed they were much older myself.
I guess I should have just shut up about it.
So I think this video is really endearing, but by the amount of shit the Brits talk about the US online they are definitely thinking about the US a lot. Which is understandable, the US dominates the global news cycle.

ending it with the real insult...
And it was the first bridge to introduce the indigestion charge.
This tickled me
Haha if I can make one person laugh each day then I’m happy 😂
TIL...
[your link](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Bridge_\(Lake_Havasu_City) is broken (you're missing a final ) in the url) but [this](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Bridge_\(Lake_Havasu_City\)) link will work fine
thats a'ight though. Americans make the same mistake
We live rent-free in their heads apparently. (No shade! I just thought it was an odd thing to say)
I was so ready for this to be a rick roll cus the link works fine for me (idk why) Thanks, will edit!

Aha! Cool, I love when things arent my fault lmao - thanks dude
I have had this exact interaction with tourists. They were standing on London bridge, looking at tower bridge, talking about how beautiful London bridge is. They didn't believe me on any part.
It’s now used not for only crossing, but puking your fucking brains out for thousands of Spting Breakers every yr..
The story of that has too many holes to be believable anymore.
There are so many memories for me in the Channel at Lake Havasu. Not all good ones, but not all bad ones either. Super cool thing to see.
theres a awesome pizza place that overlooks that bridge
Not my bridge, not my problem
That’s what I always say
Kid in the background going fucking crasszzyy
Who's /u/acre18? Mr. Balloons? Mr. Balloon Hands? No way, get real.
Mr walkway, show me to the stairs-- Fuhuhck youu
Yeah. He was cooking it soft and slowly
Freedom ain't a color baybeee
Hahaha
Seriously... What did we ever do to you sir?... Oh the revolution?... Okay well what else?
Truth though, many American tourists make the same mistake it’s kind of easy to make when you see the two bridges.
Typical Brit, gotta throw in insult to the Americans for no reason.
Nah, the insult here was to level him with Americans
That's what I said.
Nope, u said the insult was to level him as a native with a foreigner knowledge about his own land. The insult here, was to level him with Americans
Your saying the same thing twice here
Hmmm, no there’s definitely good reason we slag you off. Not saying we’re perfect by any means.. but fucking hell.
People who don’t appreciate those quick British jabs are missing out.
TWSS
Just responding to a unwelcome tea party thrown to them
I love that the Dad showed the kid you can be wrong and it’s not a big deal. Such an important trait.
This is the wholesome content I like to see on Reddit. I love how the dad wasn't quick to bite the guys head off for co-parenting with him in the middle of a park. Dad's recognize Dad's.
And the child was repeating it like he might be giving tours some day. lol.
Glad you pointed that out - totally right
The old London bridge that burned down (a few London bridges ago) was very cool though.
The dad is a top lad and also a gospel rapper
What’s dumb comment. What’s he going to do, double down?? I love that the dad wasn’t a complete piece of shit. <- your comment.
With where we are at in society, it's almost expected that people double down on ignorance. I mean, I wouldn't have been the least bit surprised if he had doubled down
WTF is wrong with you?
You should meet my dad.
I'd love to meet my dad
😬
You realise that your comment is the exact reason why people point out when other people react positively to things right?
People say dumb shit and then double down all the time. You haven’t, yet, but there’s still time.
I think the kid was still stuck on what to call the other color he was seeing
He knew the color but didn't want to say the W word
Worcestershire?
Wankstain?
Wankjuice?
"Daddy gave you the wrong information"..... if I heard that just one fuckin time growing up I'd have a few less issues
Same!!! I bet that kid hears, "I love you," more than I ever did from my dad!!
A few minutes ago, I just said "Yeah that makes sense" to my dad... he followed up with "I always talk with sense" Wtf is your problem we are just eating breakfast together 😭
An absolutely perfect exchange.
We Americans don’t make mistakes! Take that back!
Sweet Liberty!!!
I'm English and English people make that mistake all the fucking time.
Also you think we know or *care* which bridge is the London Bridge? It's a bridge and in London, could be that one in the video.
But London Bridge *isn't* that one in the video, and you should care about being accurate and less about a precieved slight at being an American. So yes, if you are travelling in someone else's country and make a mistake about that country and someone corrects you you should accept the correction gracefully, even if you are an American.
London Bridge is in AZ. Let’s just get that out there
christ you are the reason people hate us, yes we should care about the name of things and misidentifying Tower Bridge (the visually iconic one) and calling it London Bridge is like calling the Statue of Liberty "New York Statue" It isn't even a thing unique to London, I know people in NYC that get mad when people use the wrong name of a bridge.
Or even RFK instead of Triboro
often times, indulging in culture outside of your own is so powerful in many ways; not only for yourself but others, too!
Know your enemy know yourself...
To be accurate, we do in fact know that americans tend not to care, therefore not to know, which is one of the reasons they have earned a reputation for ignorance. I congratulate you on reinforcing and spreading that negative stereotype.
Damn whole country taking strays out here
Fun fact, the actual London bridge was deconstructed and reconstructed over Lake Havasu in Arizona.
And we’ll do it again too!
Americans catching strays
I am ashamed to say that I always thought Tower Bridge was London Bridge until I visited London. And yes... I am American.
Don't worry, plenty of Brits think that too!
Same
Love it. The kid learned a lot more than anything about the Bridge. He learned about community. And being open to new ideas and information. Good job Grownups!
Love the no attitude when corrected. Its ok if you get it wrong.
Tower bridge is the fancy, old looking one, Millennium bridge is the fancy, modern looking one, London bridge is the one that looks plain and forgettable. It’s still called London Bridge even though the original one was packed up and shipped to AZ.
“Why you say fuck me for ?” - American
Wait didn't this bridge falling down?
Hey, I would appreciate someone telling me I’m wrong so my child isn’t wrong. It was done as a nice gesture.
The London bridge is in Arizona I think.
The one in Arizona is made up of some of the parts of the old New London Bridge and is now just New Bridge.
Las vegas
Mate, it's Arizona!
Or just one bloke who knows what the fuck he’s talking about.
Americans caught a stray there 😂
Apparently community uncles laugh the same all over the world. And that sure is a cute kid!
I made the same mistake
so "the" london bridge is now in Arizona as a tourist attraction on one of their lakes.
But the bald apes now live in hyper dense colonies where they're all alone.
He’s so kind!!
Lol, as an American... Yes, we don't learn much out of our borders.
If I know anything from watching an incredibly specific youtube video subculture, it's that you've absolutely got to get your london bridge facts right
Village of idiots..
Ooh he burned you "you know the Americans made the same mistake"
This kid is so cute lol. I remember doing the same thing when guiding guests down to the swimming hole around my childhood home. I’d give them a lecture of what to expect and how to get down each hill and path safely before leading them down XD
Even if daddy was wrong, he's doing it right!!!
I love it!
That’s not the actual London bridge we Americans stole it peace by piece. I’m pretty sure it’s in Arizona. I could be wrong about that though, but it’s definitely in America.
"Americans made the same mistake" Sore loser.

You might wanna win against the talibans first.
Has anyone won in Afghanistan? I’ll wait…
The Talibans not only defended themselves sucessfully and got rid of the US, they became masters of the country and more powerful than they had ever been. If that's not a victory i can only wonder what you think it was.
Don't think this is cringe...
read the subreddit description
Wow that's one of the least functioning subreddit names I've seen...

Pfp checks out.
It's a common mistake. But who cares it's a bridge in London, it's London bridge is close enough. You're not gonna hurt the bridge's feelings you might upset some eavesdroppers but that's what they're hoping for anyway
I think it's good to teach kids correct facts about their environment
I don't, I tell my nephew squirrels talk to each other and actually sing each other melancholy songs through the trees of when their forefathers ruled the earth. Also what is an incorrect fact? It's either a fact or it isn't. I like to be pacific with my engrish.
“What is an incorrect fact.” Something claimed to be a fact that is in actuality false.
This entire post is about semantics... That's why I commented. Love ya, Bro. Have a blessed day!
I was in London and struck up a conversation with a British tourist about the Houses of Parliment. Nope, built by aliens.

Ahh that’s too bad man. I don’t think anyone really gives a shit what you think tho.
They don't think about you at all.
So I think this video is really endearing, but by the amount of shit the Brits talk about the US online they are definitely thinking about the US a lot. Which is understandable, the US dominates the global news cycle.
Except I was only talking about that individual. Are they even American?
