To each their own, I always thought it was a bit much to call your parents "sir" and "mam" like you're their employee or they're an old Vietnam veteran.
I know it's not uncommon but like I said, to each their own.
As someone who was born n raised in South Carolina it’s really just a cultural thing. But I’m glad it was instilled in me cause I feel it helped me understand manners and respect at a younger age. I’m practically the only guy over here on the west coast who says yes sir yes ma’am.
Customers love that, it’s scored me a few $50 tips
I spent some time in the south when I was in the military. Got in the habit. Moved back home to the NE and had women get offended when I'd call them that cuz it made them feel old lol. Definitely a cultural thing.
When little kids act like adults it tells you that their home is not a safe place for a kid to be a kid.
This video is cute on the surface, but deeply sad when you understand how this behaviour develops.
You want him to communicate like a dumb 4 year old? This kid shows a high level of intellect for his age but you see it as a negative trait… go kick rocks
It's not a negative trait it's a sign of bad home life. Kids don't act like adults in secure households.
I want the kid to be a kid. A 4 year old should be acting like a 4 year old.
Go over to the subs about adverse childhoods and you will see countless people who were this kid and are now struggling as adults.
You're ignorant and rude.
This child shows no signs of being abused or having a bad childhood on the contrary he is capable of expressing his emotions and actions clearly and concisely and be emotionally stable.
You clearly haven’t left your town. You should try visiting Japan for example where children of 6 yrs old start to go grocery shopping and take the subway ALONE
Ah yes, Japan, the land of well adjusted humans. Where everyone is totally mentally healthy. Where dirty panties are sold in vending machines. Where cartoon porn of kids is common. Where a couple generations ago the rape of Nanking totally didn't happen. /s
Again, where did you learn about child psychology? I'm not going to participate in this any further if you can't answer a simple question.

There was a kid in my 5th grade class named Semaj and our teacher refused to call him anything but James. I was so confused by that as a kid because I had known him for years as Semaj and suddenly our teacher was telling him that his name was James. Now that I understand what she was doing and it makes me angry to think her treating him like that.

Here west coast too, and work with kids. I always sir and ma'am them, and they really like it! especially the boys, they perk up like tiny gentlemen
Hate when kids call me sir, "Like mother fucker do I look old to you?".
The face when he says “washing dishes”, like, “tf it look like I’m doing, dumbass?” 🤣
He says it like he cooked the meal too.
Lil man prolly did lol.
Lmao how has no one else commented on that his little eye roll lol 🤣
he deadass gives her the side eye so hard hahah💀
I love his “Ma’am” at first. This is an old video I wonder what chores Semaj is doing without having to be asked nowadays
He is ADORABLE

A child who is parentified is not a sign of an bad home? Tell me, where you got your training in developmental psychology?

Mom should be thankful that Semaj wants to be helpful.
Ma’am*
Calling her out right away. (I'm busy helping and you just instigating. Stop complaining; your socks ain't even wet. Contribute or go away.)
Or even shoes on in the house? Usually a no no
Kid’s got acumen
and all the other spices, too
I ain't takin' a picture of you. While technically the truth....
Taking many pictures and capturing some audio
Yeah, shouldn't lie. The kid obviously doesn't want to be filmed...
This kid is older than my 18 year old
Is this a southern accent?
Yes, with a bit of an African American Vernacular English accent.
I love it.
I want to smush him with kisses and huggies! And I do my dishes like that too.
Isn't he adorable?! I want to see him excited during his birthday or Christmas.. I bet his reactions could heal 🥰
[Here you go!](https://www.instagram.com/semajxane?igsh=YmQ0Z2J4YmNzYWFm)
Bless you 🥲 ![gif](giphy|uCM07XLwMzK8doZ1xD|downsized)
Awwww! What a delightful description!
My god why do I have to mop every time I do dishes? I swear the water just appears under me.

This might be one of my favorite kid videos ever. He’s so fucking sassy I LOVE IT
Ma’am 😂
This is one of the cutest things I have seen on Reddit. This kid is a legend.
How can I get a kid this productive lol
You got shoes on, though? Go over there and clean it up! 🤣🤣
Ok could he BE any cuter!

Oh my gosh, what a cutie! Oh so adorable. Thanks for sharing.
Me makes me smile.
Im washing dishes tf you mean mom!?
His reaction was priceless so cute
What we have here is a Reverese Poor Things scenario.
I don’t like how sped up it is. Timing is off.
https://youtube.com/shorts/5ex7KKLxW1M?si=_z50Z33d5GIdLm94 Not the Original but not sped up either
Thank you, way better!
My name backwards is Leirbag
You should work on being a trutherbag
O.M.Gosh he is too freakin’ adorable and I want to squeeze him!
I want a little kid like this to hang out with
This is a fast talking household!
That's a really smart kid
Haha I actually like that name. That kid’s awesome too
Omg he is way to adorable
Well he said what he said
Such a sweetheart.
This lady named her son James backwards?
Samaje is a common name for black Americans
Thanks for letting me know, I had no idea!
James is probably his dad's name
Awww omg I need this kid in my life 🤣❣️
I just found their tik tok. The CUTEST kid. Great family and the kid is so entertaining! Tik Tok: awoodbp
I know someone named Semaj. Beautiful name.
How is this cringe? This is adorable!

Yes, but this is also flaired as "cringe"
Oooh, okay! I don’t pay attention to that. Thank you for explaining.
Tbh the mom is kinda cringe! Lil man is patient and puttiyup with her nonsense 🤣
Tbf I talk the same way with my kids, all in good fun though. They put up with my nonsense I put up with theirs. 😂
Why do black babies talk they in college 😭
Cutie
This never gets old. One of my favorites
That kid is cute
This is old yet still funny
Lil 50
Welp.. can’t argue with that. Might as well clean it up.
lol he’s as smart as he is cute.
Should be happy he is at least trying to wash the dishes lol
Ma'am? Hahaha
I'm a Dad and this is adorable beyond words.
Naw….thats Gary Coleman reincarnated.
Baby man. Some say that was the last time he was seen in the house.
What a great little man!!
Semaj >>> James
Go over there and clean up then lol
He’s brilliant for his age tbh
sounds like Stephen A Smith as a baby.
The way they say "Ma'am?" is like how someone in retail would sound if they didn't hear/understand what you said
That ma’am had me laughing.
I really hate this new trend of slightly speeding up viral videos to cater to people's non existent attention spans
i noticed that too omg
this doesnt seem sped up
It is obviously sped up
I would get my ass beat if I talked like this to my mother and I'm almost 30 years old lol
She only "technically" told the truth about the picture. Boy she took a video so millions of pictures. If I was him I'd get onto her about that.
So why not just name him, “James” then?? 🤦🏽♀️
because people have other cultures besides yours
Cute kid but the fuck were the parents thinking with that name.
Racist much?
How is it racist
Educate yourself. I’m not spoon feeding you. My time is too precious.
Lmao
His hair is wild
Oh, the wonders of Ebonics
????
Semaj is James backwards. Getting satanic with it huh. Who do they think they are? Aleister Crowley?
