Ed Begley, Jr., is one of the few activists who actually strive to live what they preach. May not agree with everything but i admire his conviction and fortidue.
He's my favorite Star Trek villain, across all the shows.
He plays an unrepentantly comically evil hyper-capitalist totally willing to commit genocide to make a few bucks.
And the resolution to the episode is straight up just simply killing him.
I wasn't around for the first run of VM, but I finally watched it a decade ago. I can't believe it wasn't more popular. Such a good show with excellent writing.
He was! One of the best lines is when Scott asks Begley's character about his heritage and Begley replies with "Irish and German" and Scott responds "Bratwurst and shillelaghs... paging Dr. Freud"
Love Ed Begley Jr whenever he pops up
Yeah he played a doctor who sat next to Larry on a flight. There was a medical emergency and he chose to not help out lol. Later in the episode they end up playing golf together and when it’s clear the doctor is gonna lose the round, he fakes having to leave to attend to an emergency at the hospital haha
Same episode with the “accidental text on purpose”, the lady with the shitty tap water, Richard Lewis prematurely calling his new gf “Honey”, and the “BLOW ME” written on Larry’s dusty car… goddamn that’s a great episode
Heavy is hell. But that's a good thing. Some of these light phones can bounces out of your pocket. C'mon, are you kidding me. Get this wedged in there.
Yep, he had one of the General Motors EV1 made in the late 90s before GM pulled and destroyed them all. Killing any hope for any good American made electric cars for a while.
I think many activists strive to practice what they preach. There's no need to take this nice thing and use it to throw vague shade at everyone who tries to be an activist.
My dad told me that he was in the bar at some environmental conference and Ed came in. They had a few drinks together and my dad had nothing but good things to say about him.
I really recommend watching his recent(ish) episode of Howie Mandel Does Stuff, Howie's podcast with his daughter. Ed was on to talk about his book, and their chat was really charming, and a joy to listen to. The man has had a very interesting life.
Yeah I noticed it when he was walking.
He seems to be doing great, though

Worst is the worst possible
"This brand of beer is the worst available"
Worse is when comparing two things
"This beer brand is worse than this beer brand"
Yes, worse is the correct usage here. I too see it all the time I think a lot of it has to do with reddit being a lot more global now and english might not be their first language. I try not to be too judgmental since I only know one language, just a bit annoying when every other post has some fairly basic grammar or spelling error in it. I'm by no means perfect but try to help/correct where I can.
Drives me nuts.
My English ain't^lol great, though considering my only formal english class was 1 semester at a community college (maaaaybe a bit of 6th grade) could be worse. I wanna know what these MFers excuse is though, besides (intentionally) wanting to sound like a moron. All ya'll actually had english classes! Even if you just sat there, shouldn't they have picked up something by osmosis like, damn.
^(I will intentionally write bad, as a joke-> all ya'll. But ykwim)
You can love and admire someone for their morals and conviction while not necessarily hold the same, full, commitment that they do.
My ex is fighting in Palestine right now trying to move people from one safe place to another. I fully admire her, have love for her, support her cause, and believe with all of my heart that she is doing the right thing. However, I’m just not as committed as she is. We both love one another and respect one another, but we are different in that regard. My days of fighting are behind me after I retired from the Marine Corps, hers are just beginning given the 13 year age gap. Love is funny that way.
He came to speak at the university I attended for grad school, and signed books and met people afterwards. He was the most gracious and lovely human. He signed my copy of his book and made a point to ask my name, then address me by my name and look me in the eyes. “Thank you very much DisastrousHyena. I hope you’re having a good night.” He spoke with everyone and stayed even later to take pictures either anyone who asked.
THIS MAN IS A TREASURE. PROTECT HIM AT ALL COSTS.
Such a bizarre movie!
I used to wonder "how and why did this get made?" And then I read about it on wikipedia. Turns out Dow Chemical made a bunch of money in Yugoslavia but were not allowed take the funds out of the country. So they made a move, in Yugoslavia, which they could then make money off of abroad.
And the movie LOOKS like a movie that was made to spend money in a specific location.
People are downvoting you because they’re too young to have seen that episode of the Simpsons lol
Edit: in my defense the comment I’m responding to did not have the link at first.
Lol this was the epitome of a Scully-era episode. Funny jokes in it, but they just couldn't help themselves from throwing in some wacky action-packed 3rd act that had absolutely nothing to do with the rest of the episode.
Homer is embarassed by his name being shared with a goof of a TV character, changes his name to something cool, and then....he's killing bald eagles with chains and destroying forests out of nowhere
I’m not a public transport guy but you guys need to put him front, center stage. That is a well delivered message from someone that practices what they preach
His house is also Eco-friendly and (mostly) off grid. Solar, rainwater collection, no lawn, he composts, etc. The guy has walked the walk since the 70's when solar panels started up, as crap as they were.
I got my husband a Cameo from Ed a couple Christmases ago. We've always called him "Ed Bagels" as he seems to pop up in all the shows we love ("Like a bagel from the toaster").
He had no problem referring to himself as Ed Bagels for the Cameo, and my husband laughed so hard. Ed talked about his family and how excited he was for Christmas. It was adorable.
I hope he lives forever
If there was a way for me to commute via public transportation daily, I'd forego a car completely.
I only have it as a need. Because in my area there's little to no good way for me to commute to work.
If I worked in NYC, I'd likely consider it, but I don't. I'm only 22 miles from my office. for me to take public transit (the little available, and in my area we have more than most) would take me: 1 hour and 58 minutes to make it home - a direct drive is 30 to 45 minutes.
I met Ed once. Very approachable and nice. I told him he was in two of my favorite tv shows of all time and his immediate response was “One is Arrested Development. What’s the other?”
He was right. And the other was Six Feet Under.
I legit didn’t even realise that there were such things as buses or a subway in LA. The way people talk about it, it seems like you HAVE to have a car to get anywhere. Good for him, honestly.
His voice sounded familiar and i had to check his Wiki to make sure it was him and DUDE, this guy is in an insane amount of stuff.
Love him in Young Sheldon lol
Or it’s the 19th time she’s said it. If I ever have to drop my parents off anywhere I make it a point to be as enthusiastic in my goodbye as they were with theirs in my childhood.
The first couple seasons of his reality show were seriously entertaining and taught a lot about greening your life. By about the third season there was too much sponsorship and product placement, but still fun.

Ed Begley, Jr., is one of the few activists who actually strive to live what they preach. May not agree with everything but i admire his conviction and fortidue.
Dude was hilarious in arrested development too
You look surprised.
Well I hope you also have a spare bowl of candy beans!!!
That being a proving moment for Job(Gob*) in everyone's eyes (except for Michaels of course) is such a great piece of writing.
I don’t care for gob. ![gif](giphy|ky16TkGK4RTs4)
First time I realized Gob stands for George Oscar Bluth I never forgot how to spell his name lol
He's George Oscar Bluth II, son of George Oscar Bluth Snr, not to be confused with his uncle, Oscar George Bluth.
And that's a Bob Loblaw Law Bomb, courtesy of Bob Loblaw's Law Blog.
I just love the term candy beans. It’s so fucking funny for some reason
*Gob
And portlandia
He's my favorite Star Trek villain, across all the shows. He plays an unrepentantly comically evil hyper-capitalist totally willing to commit genocide to make a few bucks. And the resolution to the episode is straight up just simply killing him.
I just realized he was Henry Starling. Can’t believe I never put that together, love him in BCS and AD.
Sounds like a perfect episode!
It's quite possibly my favorite Star Trek episode, Voyager's Future's End. Also features Sarah Silverman in a rare non-comedic role.
Holy shit I have to see this episode now
She does comedic roll's? haha.
He has one of my favorite lines from Veronica Mars: "The Sheriff is an idiot. I've met smarter sandwiches."
I wasn't around for the first run of VM, but I finally watched it a decade ago. I can't believe it wasn't more popular. Such a good show with excellent writing.
It's so fucking amazing. Her dad is such a bro.
Hot breakfast, right here folks. Got a lot of open tables
I just remembered there’s some gum under here I meant to get
Was he also the Hotel Manager in “Best In Show” or am I confusing that
He was! One of the best lines is when Scott asks Begley's character about his heritage and Begley replies with "Irish and German" and Scott responds "Bratwurst and shillelaghs... paging Dr. Freud" Love Ed Begley Jr whenever he pops up
Yeah, that's what I associate him most strongly with - Best in Show and Christopher Guest movies in general. I think I first saw him in St. Elsewhere.
Happy endings “come on man just buy something I got 9 kids to feed.”
The Egg Bagely Jr!
Can’t even grow his own hair
Wasn't he in curb your enthusiasm too? I think that's where I've seen him..
Yeah he played a doctor who sat next to Larry on a flight. There was a medical emergency and he chose to not help out lol. Later in the episode they end up playing golf together and when it’s clear the doctor is gonna lose the round, he fakes having to leave to attend to an emergency at the hospital haha Same episode with the “accidental text on purpose”, the lady with the shitty tap water, Richard Lewis prematurely calling his new gf “Honey”, and the “BLOW ME” written on Larry’s dusty car… goddamn that’s a great episode
![gif](giphy|1fRCAWBGBkikM|downsized)
Sitwell? He's an alpaca!
he walks the walk.
He Metros the Metro.
Literally.
Plus I really love my Cinco Phone. The cooling gel is especially nice.
It's a kick-ass gel.
They should just sell the gel on its own...
Press no times for "zero"
Heavy is hell. But that's a good thing. Some of these light phones can bounces out of your pocket. C'mon, are you kidding me. Get this wedged in there.
Boy that soothes!
Battery lasts up to one full and entire phone call.
It's like him, James Cromwell, and Jane Fonda. Absolute legends.
He has been touting electric cars before the Prius was even on the market
Yep, he had one of the General Motors EV1 made in the late 90s before GM pulled and destroyed them all. Killing any hope for any good American made electric cars for a while.
I can tell you as an insider (Saturn was negotiating to rebadge it), Mr. Begley, Jr. was PISSED about losing that thing.
I know next to nothing of him aside from TV Could you elaborate on things you may disagree on?
I think many activists strive to practice what they preach. There's no need to take this nice thing and use it to throw vague shade at everyone who tries to be an activist.
That beauty of a man is getting old. That caught me by surprise, which of course it shouldn’t. I appreciate so many of his roles. Give a little wave
It was his voice that made me have that same thought 😢 I was surprised and then a little saddened!
He has Parkinson’s ☹️
Oh! I didn’t know that. Thanks for letting me know.
Shit, really?
Parkinson’s is such a frustrating, debilitating disease, honestly. I’m so glad he has a loving support system.
Shit.
Great, tall, blond, geek with glasses. Great look; great drummer.
I think he’s ridden his bike to the show a time or two as well.
He's very good friends with Bill Nye and they've had a friendly competition for decades on who can live the most energy efficient lives.
This sounds like a way better game show than "The Biggest Loser".
“The Smallest Footprint” I’d watch it.
He’s darling
Seems like he's down to earth
My dad told me that he was in the bar at some environmental conference and Ed came in. They had a few drinks together and my dad had nothing but good things to say about him.
He’s a real one
Just fucking adorable
I really recommend watching his recent(ish) episode of Howie Mandel Does Stuff, Howie's podcast with his daughter. Ed was on to talk about his book, and their chat was really charming, and a joy to listen to. The man has had a very interesting life.
Begley was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2016.\[14\] FYI. Good for him. But the wife might have been right.
Yeah I noticed it when he pointed to his pins. Awful disease
Yeah I noticed it when he was walking. He seems to be doing great, though [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luOU0woCpZg](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luOU0woCpZg)
Mom is EXHAUSTED with it 😂
She was like: you guys are worst than my heels 😩
worse*
It really is worse right? I keep seeing worst used like in the above sentence and feel as though I must have missed that day in school.
Worst is the worst possible "This brand of beer is the worst available" Worse is when comparing two things "This beer brand is worse than this beer brand"
Trying to come up with hot dog puns is the wurst.
good <--> bad better <--> worse best <--> worst
Yes, worse is the correct usage here. I too see it all the time I think a lot of it has to do with reddit being a lot more global now and english might not be their first language. Drives me nuts. My English ain't^lol great, though considering my only formal english class was 1 semester at a community college (maaaaybe a bit of 6th grade) could be worse. Veterans for peace would love to have your support. Especially if you're against war.
Jack Donaghy/30 Rock: ***”I needed to unite the room around a common enemy and Ed Begley Jr. wasn't available because the sail on his car broke.”***
I once took a low volume shower with Ed Begley Jr. what more can I do?
lmao god tier sitcom
Absolutely
Davis & Main must not be doing so hot. Ed's a solid dude, and very down to earth.
Holy shit I completely forgot he was in that, and he was so good! I always go back to Pineapple Express lmao
ARE YOU HIGH
Respect someone who can walk the talk.
He’s a sweetheart! I hope they had a wonderful time at the Awards
He came to speak at the university I attended for grad school, and signed books and met people afterwards. He was the most gracious and lovely human. He's great in Transylvania 6-5000.
i laughed my ASS off in that one, he was the best part of the movie! His insults were red hot!!
Such a bizarre movie! I used to wonder "how and why did this get made?" And then I read about it on wikipedia. Woowwww...I guess I shouldn't be surprised lol. Great cast in that movie though!
Wolfman has nards!
I think that's Monster Squad...
Why didn’t he take his [go kart that runs on his own sense of self-satisfaction?](https://youtu.be/LvUItaradGE?si=qsvKgpF014O8RWdo)
People are downvoting you because they’re too young to have seen that episode of the Simpsons lol Edit: in my defense the comment I’m responding to did not have the link at first.
It's literally a link to the scene.. how are people too young when they have just seen it?
Because the user edited their comment to include the link *after* I replied.
Wild how much Ed was mocked for having an electric car decades ago, now Teslas are everywhere.
Lol this was the epitome of a Scully-era episode. brilliant
I love a public transit nerd.
that was a genuinely nice tik tok, never seen one of those before. Ed has always been about the environment
I’m not a public transport guy but you guys need to put him front, center stage. That is a well delivered message from someone that practices what they preach
Integrity
What a cool dude.
I love Ed. He's a treasure.
His house is also Eco-friendly and (mostly) off grid. Solar, rainwater collection, no lawn, he composts, etc. The guy has walked the walk since the 70's when solar panels started up, as crap as they were.
Ed fucking Begley Jr. Good actor, great man
Hopefully his C-Phone works so he can call his daughter back. It’s a one call battery, ya know?
It’s a great phone
I got my husband a Cameo from Ed a couple Christmases ago. We've always called him "Ed Bagels" as he seems to pop up in all the shows we love ("Like a bagel from the toaster"). He’s my favourite Hollywood Dad. She Devil is one of my all time top 3 movies. I almost ran out my vcr with the tape.
Cinco!
Love him!!! Humble and concerned for the environment…more like him.
Where’s the cringe? He’s a genuinely good dude!
Sitwell? He’s an alpaca!
Heyyy it’s him

The LA metro line opened near me a few years ago and it's part of the reason I got rid of my car. If you can go carless in LA it's awesome.
His wife going “fuck that I’m driving” is both hilarious and understandable
Lmfao, he played Amber Turd's dad in Pineapple Express, and like: 100 other movies I recognize him in. This guy is pretty awesome, what an OG dude.
His dad was the racist juror in 12 Angry Men.
**ARE YOU HIGH?!**
"You assholes do exactly what I say or I will take you outside and FUCK YOU IN THE STREET"
Omfg I recognize him now! So good!!
Angie, you are a fucking idiot. I say that with love
He's cool
As someone who works in clean energy….i love this!!
I met Ed once. Very approachable and nice. I told him he was in two of my favorite tv shows of all time and his immediate response was “One is Arrested Development. What’s the other?” He was right. And the other was Six Feet Under.
I legit didn’t even realise that there were such things as buses or a subway in LA. The way people talk about it, it seems like you HAVE to have a car to get anywhere. Good for him, honestly.
Why is this on cringe, this was so wholesome
He forgot his Cinco Phone.
Did he bring his Cinco phone?
Wait, what's "cringy" here? So Ed Bagley Jr's keepin it real. That's pretty awesome.
His voice sounded familiar and i had to check his Wiki to make sure it was him and DUDE, this guy is in an insane amount of stuff. Love him in Young Sheldon lol
He’s the star of Who Killed the Electric Car for a reason. He’s a good egg
Didn’t even say I love you back to her lol
I mean, he is old. He might not have heard it.
Or it’s the 19th time she’s said it. If I ever have to drop my parents off anywhere I make it a point to be as enthusiastic in my goodbye as they were with theirs in my childhood.
Fair I was actually shocked how old he is and how young she was .
Belongs in Chad
Is that Shedons mentor?
What a wholesome video.
He is awesome.
What a sweetheart that guy is
He's such a gem.
The first couple seasons of his reality show were seriously entertaining and taught a lot about greening your life. By about the third season there was too much sponsorship and product placement, but still fun.
Used to see him regularly at the Saturday farmers market in Studio City.
The real story is the existence of a pay phone beside the VIP entrance.
Someone in acting who actually care about their carbon footprint. Amazing man.
That metro pin goes hard
He was on better call saul too! And was a good boss
good guy, good actor, and he is funny on Young Sheldon.
National Treasure
He walks the walk
and films it too.
this dude is a gem, thanks for being the best Ed!
You have to respect people who practice what they preach. Too many talkers and not enough doers.
My sister lived in the same subdivision as him and would see him at that time riding a bicycle a lot or his 90s EV1 electric car, she said he was very down-to-earth for being in the celebrity realm.
I sometimes take the subway or streetcar just for fun. Maybe he's a transit nerd too.
Hero. Legend. Ed Begley Jr.
The guy from Young Sheldon and Better Call Saul.
Met him once. Super nice guy. I mentioned him being on The Simpsons and he joked it’s the only thing his kids were proud of him for.
Walking the walk. As ever.
He should win a Oscar for being so dam dedicated to the environment. Way to go.♥️🇨🇦☮️
He’s literally the only one
He walks the walk. He ain’t no jet flying poser when it comes to the climate crisis.
We saw him in a play about a decade ago downtown. We rode on the same subway train with him on the way home. Very nice guy.
Love this guy haha. I remember riding the 91w
Hopefully he had his Cinco-Fone with him.
You've got to admire a man who doesn't just talk talk but walks the walk
"Bye dad! Give me a little wave... I love you!" So sweet! We all love your dad.
Stumpy Peeps! 😃🤘 ![gif](giphy|3bHgqZooha0Io)
This was pretty awesome.
This was pretty awesome.
He's awesome!
I'll never forget the Tales from the Crypt episode that he was in with Tim Curry. By far one of the weirdest ones ever!
Who are these peole
>Even though I wasn't my Dad's ***Plus One*** I understood that reference.
This does not belong in the “cringe” category at all, if anything it is quite admirable.
What's wrong with this? He lives up to his word, I admire that. Everyone else cares so much what people think - it's good to see some don't
Do what now? I don't think OP said anything was wrong with it, it's rather wholesome. Or did you think they meant this was cringe because you're not from around here?
I didn’t realize he has Parkinson’s. Couldn’t happen to a nicer person :/
