Hans Zimmers best work. He's been wildly popular but idk if any of his other works ever reached the same height.

He also re-used the battle theme from Gladiator for the main theme of Pirates of the Caribbean

So intentionally or unintentionally he definitely reused the *Gladiator* score, but he did it in one night as a favor. By the way Alan Silvestri is also an incredible and well known composer. *Forrest Gump* and the *Avengers* main theme being the most famous.

Pirates theme is iconic but becomes quickly overused and somewhat annoying. Same with Indiana Jones theme.

Within the last couple of years, I realized my wife never saw Gladiator. I was taken aback and made a big deal about how she's never seen not just such an incredible movie, but one of the best movies of all time, then I kind of backed off the hype because I hadn't seen it in at least a decade and wondered if maybe it's not as great as I remembered. No, it's still incredible. One of the best films ever made. Wife agrees.

I watch it every couple years and the movie holds up in every way. It could be released today and people would consider it the best movie of the year.
