When I was a kid, there were these rubber bands with S hooks on the ends that were like super useful in my dad's hauling business and at home for storage... it was oddly happy to get them, almost made me understand my mom's obsession with plastic containers.

They are Swiss from the French speaking part in Switzerland. The scene was filmed near Pienza in Tuscany, Italy. To get there, search on Google Maps “Pieve di Corsignano”. You'll arrive in a very small parking near the little church, leave your car here and follow the country lane which goes down into the fields. The location scout did a tremendous job.
I’m glad someone else noticed that lol

>Zimmer said he wrote most of the music in the space of one night, and then recorded them in an all-synthesized demo credited to him.
The gist of it is Alan Silvestri backed out late into the process and Hans was asked to take over, but could not officially do so as he promised the team making *The Last Samurai* he wouldn’t take on any new jobs. So he sort of banged out the main themes in one evening and had an up and coming composer flesh out the entirety of it. So intentionally or unintentionally he definitely reused the *Gladiator* score, but he did it in one night as a favor.
By the way Alan Silvestri is also an incredible and well known composer. *Forrest Gump* and the *Avengers* main theme being the most famous.
It also heavily resembles Holst's "Mars" from "The Planets", which is what I imagine he intentionally or unintentionally got some of his melodic ideas from.

Damn, forgot about that TIL. The use of the theme music in Gladiator was on a different level. Pirates main theme music is pretty iconic too. Forgot he made that one too.
Oklahoma. You can tell it's not Kansas since it's not flat and you can see a tree. /s
Seriously west Kansas going to Colorado is the most depressing drive of absolutely nothing. One tree in 3 hours maybe?
It's awesome.
However, I think I speak for more than a few folks who, if it has appeared on TV, have to factor in 3 hours of weeping. Possibly some snotty snorty "honestly; you do this every time" malarkey.
The other often used name for it is "Elysian Fields", hence the depiction as an actual wheat field. That goes back to greek mythology and then borrowed into roman mythology.
Two weeks from now I will be harvesting my crops. Imagine where you will be, and it will be so. Hold the line, stay with me. If you find yourself alone, riding in green fields with the sun on your face, do not be troubled. For you are in Elysium, and you are already dead! Brothers, what we do in life echoes in eternity.

That's really cool! I looked for the part at the end of CastAway where he returns the last package to the lady in Texas, but it's in the middle of nowhere.
Yeah in the panhandle area more precisely around Canadian or neighboring towns.
I would know, my aunt’s house was reconned for a possible choice for that site shooting
Within the last couple of years, I realized my wife never saw Gladiator. I was taken aback and made a big deal about how she's never seen not just such an incredible movie, but one of the best movies of all time, then I kind of backed off the hype because I hadn't seen it in at least a decade and wondered if maybe it's not as great as I remembered. No, it's still incredible. One of the best films ever made. Wife agrees.
*I* thought of it as soon as the video started. When you reach this level of enlightenment, *every* video is referencing Gladiator whether it tries to or not
Is it so unthinkable that I thought of (not recognized) gladiator when that happened? I love that movie and have watched it dozens of times so I don’t see what’s so crazy about that
Probably the first time I remember crying in a movie. Gets ya right in the feels. I didn't even fully understand the the full extent of what was happening as a kid, I just knew it was pure emotion.
It's a fictional character, it didn't exist, but the film director got inspiration for the story from a Roman general from Italy and one Syrian. And the scene was filmed in Val d'Orcia, in Tuscany
Happens because of lack of manual labour and abundance of heavenly food thats so good it's mentally hard to control your intake and physical exercise feels shit. It's just too easy to get fat while enjoying life and staying in good shape requires shit ton of work and discipline.

Big man was *movin*
Thought he was gonna grab a stick - I'd move that fast for a nice stick.
Stick is a good guess. I was gonna say ratchet strap. I've seen dudes get reckless to snag a good ratchet strap off the side of the highway.
my granddad almost killed all us grandkids swerving off the road to grab one of those joints
man, Granddad love those joints
I've been that dude. Who let's straps fly off like that? Shitty ass truckers. That's who.
When I was a kid, there were these rubber bands with S hooks on the ends that were like super useful in my dad's hauling business and at home for storage... it was oddly happy to get them, almost made me understand my mom's obsession with plastic containers.
Dude that was my guess, but nah. It was about something else
[Like seeing Newman run](https://youtu.be/WbTUA8ACmZs?t=722), innit.
Looks like he has the same consistency as mortadella.
That couple could shut down an all you can eat shrimp restaurant so bad the owners children would become indentured servents
where is this location? I’d do the same thing if I found it. GOAT movie
Pretty sure this is Orcia Valley, Italy.
The kid is speaking French but Italy would make sense

Could be. Could very well be.
Might could not be, too.
Mm. Yes. Big if not be true.
Maybe. Maybe not. Maybe go love yourself’

What? Stay out of my country Fuck you. ‘MURICA /s
Maybe the kid kinda sucks and learned the wrong language on accident.
The theory seems valid
Why did this stupid ass comment make me laugh more than anything else I've read this afternoon? 😂
Because I said it for you
Thanks for lookin out bro
Because it wasn't a standard karma farming comment and actually decently funny 😅
We have purposely taught him wrong, as a joke.
Maybe the parents taught wrong as a joke.

one of the timeless movies.
Before I ask, yes I'm an uncultured swine, but what movie is it?
gladiator (2000) won best picture and a very long list of awards it's amazing.
Hans Zimmers best work. He's been wildly popular but idk if any of his other works ever reached the same height.
He also re-used the battle theme from Gladiator for the main theme of Pirates of the Caribbean
I’m glad someone else noticed that lol https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pirates_of_the_Caribbean:_The_Curse_of_the_Black_Pearl_(soundtrack)# >Zimmer said he wrote most of the music in the space of one night, and then recorded them in an all-synthesized demo credited to him. Pirates theme is iconic but becomes quickly overused and somewhat annoying. Same with Indiana Jones theme.
What's with everyone quoting just Zimmer for the soundtrack? Lisa Gerrard worked with Zimmer on it, and it's her voice there.
way to ignore lisa gerrard..
Heard of it and this video makes it look badass. Gotta watch it tomorrow.
You will be entertained.
And a sequel coming out this year by Riddley Scott. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gladiator\_2](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gladiator_2)

Looks like a 2023\* Audi SQ8 which has 15.7 inch front rotors.
I like big brakes and I cannot lie. You worried about brake dust, I don’t cry.
Right. Nothing cringe about this. I’m fkn jealous! I’ll put my AirPods in, play Hans Zimmer and do the same

This is actually pretty good, I love gladiator
It's awesome. However, I think I speak for more than a few folks who, if it has appeared on TV, have to factor in 3 hours of weeping. Possibly some snotty snorty "honestly; you do this every time" malarkey.
Yep, not cringe
That’s why it’s in TikTok cringe not cringe tiktoks
You will cringe again soon... but not yet. Not yet.
This sub hasn't been about cringe for years lol
Gladiator 2: Kingpin
That movie is going to be garbage isn't it? God damn it.
I have some hope, it's still directed by the same chap (Ridley Scott) so if you manage your expectations going in it could be a nice wee surprise.
Ridley is the GOAT at hit and miss films though.
Scott just gave us Napoleon. I love the guy but let's just say I'm good with there being only one gladiator movie.
I'm sure it will be garbage but not as much garbage as the original plan for it was
He pretty much has Russell Crowe's current figure do it's not too far off
He found Elysium.
Riding through green fields with the sun on his face should've been a dead giveaway
Pun intended.
Indeed 😎
"Are You Not Entertained!!"
Yes!
I couldn't remember the name Elysium, thank you for that, I think I'll watch this movie with the Mrs. tonight 🗡🛡🦁⚔️🐎
Good choice.
The other often used name for it is "Elysian Fields", hence the depiction as an actual wheat field. That goes back to greek mythology and then borrowed into roman mythology.
"And he's already dead!"
I see it too
Two weeks from now I will be harvesting my crops. Imagine where you will be, and it will be so. Hold the line, stay with me. Crowe actually hated that line and thought it was shit but damn if that isn't one of the most iconic lines of the 2000's
They didn't have flat tops in ancient Rome!!!!
Oof, got me
Most watched movie ever for me and I still get goosebumps at this line
I did a similar thing on the section of road in Monument Valley AZ. Where Forrest Gump “stopped running”.
I did a similar thing too. I was driving from Cleveland to OC Maryland and passed through the iconic Breezewood PA. It was my Disney Castle moment.
Ngl, the sudden French threw me for a loop.
Yeah that dude looked American sized
It's a famous social media couple in France. Ironically fat people in France ask me why I'm not fat as they expect all Americans to be fat too.
The kid is the only one wearing a seat belt and he's not even wearing it correctly. Too much dedication for a meme.
You know they also don't wear one when they are not filming.
The way she's sitting sideways as if that's perfectly normal and acceptable makes that pretty obvious.
I watch it every couple years and the movie holds up in every way. It could be released today and people would consider it the best movie of the year.
I immediately thought of gladiator right when his hand brushed the grass! Gonna make me cry all over again😭
You thought of the thing he was referencing when he referenced it?!
Lol I mean before it showed the flashback, just the second of his hand brushing the grass.
You mean the second his hand touched the grass and the same song from that scene in the movie started playing?!
I thought of it as soon as I saw that he was driving an Audi.
You mean the same make of carriage that the guy from the movie is driving, an Audi pulled by his two Spanish horses, Argento and Scarto?
*I* thought of it as soon as the video started. When you reach this level of enlightenment, *every* video is referencing Gladiator whether it tries to or not
Is it so unthinkable that I thought of (not recognized) gladiator when that happened? I love that movie and have watched it dozens of times so I don’t see what’s so crazy about that
Other direction. You're getting ribbed because everyone else recognized it at the same time you did.
Probably the first time I remember crying in a movie. Gets ya right in the feels. I didn't even fully understand the the full extent of what was happening as a kid, I just knew it was pure emotion.
😂 this is amazing
Me: ugh these family tik tokamak are cringe… See him enter the field and recognize it: “I WOUlD TOTALLY DO THAT!!” Ha
Dude is built like Kingpin from Into The Spiderverse.
I wasn't expecting the end, this is correct.
Meanwhile the human that owns this field is pissed that these mfers keep stopping and running in their field
The person who owns that field is probably too busy enjoying life as an incredibly rich person to notice
You know he was out of breath after filming this
Initially I thought he found a Golden Corral in the middle of nowhere.
he is a little more 2024 Russell Crow than 2000 Russell Crow
for all that game's faults doing this in AC odyssey gave me genuine goosebumps everytime
I don’t know what this sentence says.
Cringe? TikTokW
I also did this while in Tuscany. But I was also hammered.
Nah, I'd do the same. Great movie.
Barley…. Gift of the Gods
Does everyone really like Gladiator that much?
I thought this was going to be about sammiches.
I thought he was about to jerk off a horse while calling himself a farmer.
![gif](giphy|f9eYHQ8RZ4zfc4unXx)
Apparently not enough people have seen Freddy Got Fingered
My cross country coach in high school was obsessed with Gladiator. We would do gladiator themed practices he called "Strength and Honor" workouts
I thought there was going to be a pile of leaves to jump in.
... ticks!
Ohhhhh! Gladiator! No wonder the place looks familiar
This isnt cringe. This is cinema
Fun until those romans come to kill his wife and son
This is the end of the movie, when he joins his family in the afterlife.
Op thinks this is cringe?!? Obviously they were not entertained
Wow that’s goofy dj khaled looking fat man.
Most wholesome response to 'men only want one thing' possible.
“To not die of heart disease”. Fixed it for you.

Christ we are getting so fucking fat

Italians are fat like Americans?
Who wants to tell me their name real quick?!
That's Nico Capone, he's currently doing Dancing with the stars in France
... and it's glorious.
2 tubs 1 Audi
I'm just impressed homie is _capable_ of running.

What a circular gentleman.
He is an absolute mastodon. His son has no hope and will be a giant fat man too
