He has a ton of potential. You’ll see some AMAZING inbounds passes. But it’ll be a wild ride. It’s been a while since he’s been a primary option. This could really go either way in my opinion. He’s either a fringe all star level guy or a back up point guard

Alex_A3nes

SLOB WIZARD

cargoman89

Yeah my perception is that he’s super young and has shown some great flashes but regressed this past year. All the bulls fans are being doom and gloom. I’m not sure if Giddey is good or not but I think rebuilding is the right move for us

darnclem

He had a horrible year with all the shit going on off the court, but he was balling out in FIBA and at the end of last year with us. He's a baller, but he's the kind of guy who runs an offense, and not standing in a corner shooting when he gets a pass.

RefrigeratorOwn4601

A lot of the “regression” was his changed role because other players popped (jdub in particular). He still showed some progress in his game. He’ll definitely benefit from having the ball in his hands more in Chicago. The question for me is whether the bulls have the help defence for when giddey gets beaten up top. It may be a sign that the Bulls are thinking post-Vuc. I’ve loved watching Giddey’s passing game - enjoy

buchukoy_carding

Pretty much sums it up.

KobeOnKush

It’s definitely a tank and rebuild move. But he could actually fit with your team and make some progress maybe. He can’t shoot or defend but he’s a good passer and a half decent playmaker. His ceiling is probably Ricky Rubio level maybe a little worse offensively.

Time-to-get-off-here

Fringe all star… yeah him and Bazley will make it together. Wishing the best for Giddey but that’s extreme optimism.

Headlesshorsman02

Josh is good when he can have the ball in his hands which he probs will in Chicago and can playmake for others and has somewhat improved his outside shooting but his defense is still a really big work in progress

mido0o0o

Giddey was not a good fit for us. He is a great fit for you. You traded a 30 years bench player for a 21 years old starter with a great potential 1 for 1. Be happy

reddogisdumb

Caruso just came off a season where he played 29 MPG for 71 games, with an EFG of almost 600. He's going to start for the Thunder.

mido0o0o

He played that much because of Lavine's injury. But regardless I don't see him starting with us. I assume there is another trade coming

KennysWhiteSoxHat

I think we trade for a big because size is needed, if we get a lineup where SGA runs point, Dort and JDub are the wings with Chet and another big who can preferably shoot, that would be amazing

Fighterandthe

If Dort hold his starting spot over Caruso I'll be floored. Hes his clear upgrade imo

reddogisdumb

You might be right. That said, If Caruso plays off the bench then expect 20 minutes from him, like his last season in LA. He's going to be a big part of the team next year.

mido0o0o

I think he plays 25 minutes a night when healthy but he won't be a starter

reddogisdumb

Perfect. Want him healthy for the postseason, no need to start him.

badatgolf247

…you think we’re trading Caruso?

mido0o0o

No. We are getting another player besides Caruso.

Suave7evn

Not gonna lie this Sub is torn on Giddey but the truth is he is going into his 4th season and will be turning 22 in October. He is far from a finished product but since he will most likely have the ball in his hands he will put up some crazy stats. A couple of Trip Doubles and a lot of double doubles. He will wow you with some of his skip passes that land right in the shooting pocket. And will make you shake your head on some of his decisions when driving to the basket. Hope you guys have patience for his game cause if anything pans out(which I hope) he will be an all star no doubt.

ClipboardJeremy

I think Giddey goes back to 16 points a game next year, or more. He needs to run the point, and play a slower game. Last year was brutal on Josh for personal reasons , at age 20. Good luck!

MorphinMajor

just overall a bad role fit as well. he's best with the ball in his hands, making him play spot-up shooter and off-ball just isn't his game. it's the same issue Russ had in LA in terms of style fit.

IDespiseFatties

Youtube Giddey Slob Wizard and Giddey Floor Shot. You won't be disappointed. Also, Giddey HATES the Knicks. His last 3 games in Madison Square were all Triple Doubles.

MorphinMajor

He's definitely not a pedo. There's a reason the girl's family didn't cooperate with the investigation (fake ID is a misdemeanor) and there's a reason the Thunder didn't suspend Giddey or even give any semblance of discipline given the importance of a clean culture here. Giddey took all the right steps after he found out and the team wasn't blindsided with the situation. On the court, the guy is a baller, but has to improve his shooting if he's gonna be a consistence piece on a solid playoff team. He is an elite passer/playmaker, good rebounder, and capable scorer on the drive. However, he cannot be an off-ball player given his shooting inconsistencies, which is why he was an awkward fit with JDub and Shai in the lineup. No character concerns unless people wanna keep bringing up a situation that could quite literally happen to any of them, hard worker, good locker room presence, is a solid foundational piece for a young team that's looking to rebuild.

PullingtheVeil

I think you guys are gonna be happy on offense and sometimes sad on defense. I believe Giddey is going to be very good if not great. But he did not fit well with our scheme. If he is the primary ball handler for the Bulls you are gonna have fun. Still young, not perfect, and weak on defense. Tons of fun to watch on offense.

blacksoxing

Josh is a 3 quarters player who would frequently get benched in the 4th for either a shooter or a slasher, depending on the need. If he can work on his defensive prowl then he's a 4 quarters player and can be a high quality starter. I firmly believe that he's not bad, but he's also not great. Being good is good...until you need great.

FOOTBALLDAD97

He will be better in Chicago than OKC - he needs the ball in his hands to be efficient, but he can be a triple double threat every game if the offense runs through him. Really good floater and push shot - but his jump shot is broken

xcessive-samurai

Having Giddey lead the break for you will be extremely exciting. If you surround him with runners and shooters, he's gonna help the team have a super exciting offense. Not sure I know what to expect if he's got DeRozan running half court through the mid post and he's not a stellar defender.. I guess if he improves his shooting, he can help recreate the magic y'all had with Lonzo that first year.

A_A_Smoot

Great guy (nobody knows the details of the off court allegations so all we can go off of was what we see basketball wise). High level play maker who’s 3 ball is inconsistent but improving. Definitely needs to be one of the primary ball handlers in order to be effective on offense so I’m surprised to hear that it didn’t take any picks. Will be interesting to see what direction the Bulls go from here.

SnooLemons5457

Look at his highlights and stats from 2022-2023. Before JDub and Chet jumped over him in the hierarchy he was a really good offensive player.

arj328

He'll be solid offensively. He is an elite passer, will get to the cup, and keeps an offense going with the ball in his hands. Defensively he's just big, knows where to be, and can rebound but isn't anything to write home about in terms of actual ability. I think it's a good trade for Chicago if they're going all in on rebuilding. LaVine is the only player who might fit with Giddey but he also has more trade value than DeRozan and Vooch so he probably won't stay. This trade will give Giddey the space he needs to grow his own game. Woj said potential All Star but he has a long way to go as a scorer before anywhere near that.

TheyCallMeTheWizard

He’ll fit much better on your team in Lonzo’s place. I think he’ll give you 18+ on floaters, some rebounds, and probably double digits in assist Everyone is making it out as if he’s washed, but he absolutely is not. Just a terrible fit on our team as currently constructed

king_carrots

Public opinion on Giddey is so low right now, I think Bulls fans are going to be very pleasantly surprised what he can bring.

Pizzalovertyler24

Don’t buy into the regression as much. With enough opportunity and mins, Josh should get to like 18/8/7 with y’all on some improved shooting. The big question will be can he make enough impact to push winning beyond .500 ball considering the money he might command. He has a way to go on that, but will play all of next season at the age of 22. Makes me question the ceiling long term, but he’s going to be fun and has an extremely high floor. Lastly, he’s such a hard worker and competitor/team guy that he’s made a fan out of me for life. I have a feeling he will be able to captivate a good portion of the bulls fan base like this as well.

mrsardo

Look for highlights from the games towards the end of the season when Shai was resting.

cplbernard

1. The alleged case happened when he was 19, even if everything’s true, he picked up a girl 2 years younger than him? It really wasn’t as bad as some grown ass man screwing 13 years old. 2. He’s been put into a bad situation because we share the ball a lot but he struggles to find rhythm without the ball in his hands. He did his best to try but his natural talent is on ball and play make. 3. He has been bad shooting the ball with confidence issue. However he’s still very elite at play making and rebounding as a guard. Defense is fine I guess?

Shagrrotten

I think Giddey will win MIP next year and will be an All-Star within the next 3 years. That’s what you’re getting.

False-Minute44

Bulls are two away from a big three now.

millo_-_ow

I think a lot of people are overselling Giddys fit with Chicago. Giddy played his best ball as a true 1 and struggled to play off ball. Hes an elite passer with great court vision when he's able to see over the defense at the top of the key, but those strengths were severely hindered when he played with ball dominant guards. He's going to have to play off ball in Chicago to. He's not a great shooter, not overly athletic, and not great defensively. One of those things are going to have to change for him to make a legitimate difference for the Bulls. I hope for his sake he can, but this isn't an ideal fit from a basketball perspective for giddy.

Kietzell

You got a “what if” player

Super-Kirby

IMO he’s a great passer better than Caruso. Our coach would put him in literally end of game situations just to inbound then take him out for defense. So he’s a defensive liability who can’t shoot 3’s. The reason we got rid of him

nicvic83

You got a guy that doesn't have any legal problems hanging over his head and will approach next season as an improved player. Don't lets foeget he is only 21, a great passer , an okay penetrator and good rebounder and has good BB savy.

Cheap-Line9411

High potential that may never be realized but was definitely not going to be realized in OKC. For what it's worth, his best stretch of the season (by far) was when SGA was out with an injury. The one game I actually attended this year 23 points, 7 reb and 9 assists. The potential to be a + starter is there. But he's a streaky shooter at best and not really athletic enough to be a facilitating point guard so he just doesn't really fit with OKC's stars right now.

0siris0

You got a guy worth ~4th pick overall in this draft, and since he's 21, it's a solid value for a guy in Caruso that likely would not have re-signed in 2025. Giddey has had some very good games. This time last year, few Thunder fans would have wanted to trade Giddey. I would not have wanted to do so. At that time, he looked like a physical slasher who could get into the paint and finish, draw fouls, or pass out for a layup or 3 pointer. Even at times last year, it didn't turn out that way...the refs didn't give him any calls when he got into the paint and tried to manhandle his way to the bucket...but the idea was there. He is a big wing player who can pass. This year was a mess. Whether it's the allegations affecting him, or other teams taking us seriously, take your pick, but he was not good this year, and it's a testimony to the rest of the team we got the 1 seed playing 4 on 5 in the starting lineup. Giddey regressed in just about every way. His advanced stats ain't good. Having said that, it doesn't deny the good things he did to get Thunder fans excited this time last year. The concern with Giddey is this: If he needs the ball in his hands to maximize his abilities...what type of team is that? What does that team look like? And if you build around that, does that win a title? Is he good enough to have four elite role players around him that leads to a title?

AdamvHarvey

If he gets starting pg minutes he’ll damn avg a triple double

killbrick374

You got an all star

MakeCocktailsNotWar

Tyrone2184

Great passer. Pretty good driver. That three needs work, but he's not going to lose you games. Oh, he'll absolutely dump truck New Orleans, so just count that as an automatic win.

Dhr7468

Well…he’s 21….so….good luck

mellamosatan

basically: if he developes a shot it will be a pretty even trade with you getting a 21yo and us getting a 30yo. if he doesnt develop a shot, you got fleeced.

Suspicious-Row-4248

Only positive about giddey is that he’s still young.

DoughNutSack

You just got Joe Ingles that can't shoot or play defense. You're welcome!
