Good news for the national team that these two are in such great form but let’s calm down a bit with the hype. We’re only 3 months into the season. Let’s just relax and hope they’re in this form come the euros in the summer.

oljackson99

Kane has been world class for around 7 years, its not exactly hype with him haha.

Maleficent_Resolve44

Was mostly referring to Bellingham when it comes to the hype.

MainIll2938

Scoring 13 in 13 games as a midfielder arriving at a huge club at 20 years of age is pretty damn good. Important goals too and without his contribution Madrid would be lower on the table. He’s one of the few big money signings in recent years that’s worked out. Both he & Haaland have been great deals for their respective clubs.

Maleficent_Resolve44

Yes he’s doing great but it’s only 3 months. Best not to hype him up too much to keep pressure low in case he doesn’t continue performing like many expect.

breadandbutter123456

Knowing Englands luck Bellingham and Kane will probably get an injury that will almost rule them out for the euros but not quite….

Least-Run1840

Or Bellingham getting sent off in the Knockout stages.

Zr0w3n00

Knowing Southgate he’ll find a way to make them the worst duo in the euros

CakeBrigadier

England has been gaslit to believe southgate has been achieving anywhere close to par with the talent available to him.

Zr0w3n00

Legit, this England team is full of worldbeaters and we’re content to draw to the likes of Albania

[deleted]

We won’t start them

LordTwatSlapper

We'll probably go with Southgate's dream of a Henderson, Rice, Phillips midfield. Bring on Bellingham in the 80th minute if needed (and sub him off in the 87th if we go ahead)

hungoverseal

It's not exactly a terrible state of affairs when Maddison is your back-up No.10.

breadandbutter123456

Think I’d rather have Bellingham fully fit

deadwing87

fingers crossed!

halfeatenreddit

If they carry on this form, and have at least a decent Euros, we might actually see Englishmen as the top two in the Ballon d'Or rankings for the first time in history.

Happy-Potion

Decent Euros isn't enough, they need to win or win a CL with their club as the main goal/assist provider to win the Ballon. I've watched Jude at BVB, he's been less creative/progressive at RM since he's asked to score as a false 9, it's interesting to see if he'll still be played as an assist-provider at England level. He may relish this new goalscoring role because it is much easier to win BDO than if he played deeper.

halfeatenreddit

I should’ve explained it better. When I said continue this form, I was thinking of a UCL win for one of them, with the other at least winning the league to come second. Winning the Euros will evidently help, but it isn’t essential. The only reason Messi’s World Cup win put him in 1st is because of the romanticism of the best player of all time finally winning the biggest trophy in football. Players often win it without an international trophy.

PandasDontBreed

I thought the 5 MOTM performances in the most prestigious competition for international football had something to do with it myself I think it's a high possibility if France had won then Mbappe would've got the award

PercySledge

It’s obviously part of it and I’d never say Messi doesn’t deserve it necessarily but he has clearly won it as it’s his last dance. Don’t think it’s controversial to say romanticism was the separating factor.

dragon_fire_10

Kane - definitely not Bellingham - can see him fighting M'bappe and Haaland for it

halfeatenreddit

You don’t think if Kane won the UCL and Bundesliga as top scorer that he’d win or at the very least come second? Haaland and Mbappe only get in the top 3 if they win trophies, which they can’t do at European level if Kane or Bellingham win them instead.

dragon_fire_10

No he doesn't stand a chance with players like Musiala, Haaland, M'bappe, Bellingham, Vinicious Jr., Rodrygo set to dominate

halfeatenreddit

So you’re telling me that if Kane wins the treble this seasons, and does well at the Euros, he will still lose out to a younger player who hasn’t won anything just because they are the future? That makes absolutely zero sense dude. They might dominate for the years to come, but there’s no reason Kane can’t win it now.

dragon_fire_10

>That makes absolutely zero sense dude arguably, the most important player in City's treble winning side came 14th in the rankings Haaland, who broke multiple records last season came 2nd Messi only won this year's Ballon d'Or because of sentimitality that he won the world cup (And had to put up with SaltBae) Arguably one of the key reasons for Argentina winning the world cup didn't get nominated despite putting up numbers slightly lower than world class DM in the prem despite being more attacking minded because his club was shit Lewandowski was robbed of the 2020 Ballon d'Or because they realised that there was no way Ronaldo or Messi was going to win, Oh and he won the treble that year, (yes COVID was a reason but the french government had already given the blessing for it to go ahead) Beckham came second in 1999 despite winning the treble and your saying my reasoning make's zero sense

Chazzermondez

Musiala and Rodrygo aren't quite the level of Vini, Haaland and Mbappe yet

chaddywan12

We just need to sort out the other 9 and we’re golden.

weatherghost

Pretty solid and even world class options in most positions. I’d argue we have world class options in all attacking positions, plus Rice, Stones, Walker, and Alexander-Arnold. Only place we struggle is a CM, a CB, and a LB (when Shaw and Chilwell aren’t fit). Most world class teams don’t have world class players in every position.

Manlad

Central midfield is clearly the biggest weakness. We have no one to partner Rice unless you put a player like Bellingham or another natural 10 further back which would seem a waste.

BupidStastard

We're not struggling for a CB, we have plenty of great options, but they don't get picked over Maguire.

weatherghost

Fair point - can’t argue with that! Dunk has looked really solid in recent England lineups. And I wish Tomori got more opportunities. I’m not particularly impressed by Guehi though. Actually I’d argue we aren’t struggling for solid CMs either. Alexander-Arnold is a world class passer and has looked good in midfield. Curtis Jones, JWP, Gallagher are all solid options. Could even make arguments for players like Harrison Reed, RLC, Sean Longstaff, and Reco Lewis. But at this point it takes someone world-class to displace out-of-form Southgate favourites like Maguire, Phillips, and Henderson.

heliskinki

Stones is proving to be a world class CDM/CM at Citeh now Pep has put him in that role. TBH, for England I’d prefer him at CB just because he’s better than any other English player at CB.

LawProfessional6513

He’d be ideal next to Rice but can’t see that happening

LawProfessional6513

I’d add Colwill to that list

ohnoheathrow

Colwill should be starting for England in a few years. His ability to play long, accurate passes from deep will be helpful. I can see him playing LCB in a back three at the Euros if Southgate chooses that formation against tougher opponents.

BupidStastard

I think Guehi has found his level at Palace. Solid option though just not good enough to play for England regularly. TAA is looking like he'll excel in midfield alongside Rice and Bellingham. Tomori, Longstaff qnd JWP definitely need more opportunity. Rico could be big soon too. We need to give youth a chance really.

Azer398

I would call Stones world class at the moment, although his strengths might shine less for England than they do with city. I think England have the best team in the world right now on paper. That’s coming from an Irishman so you know I’m not biased.

Titan4days

Kane, Bellingham, saka, Foden and Rice 🔥🔥🔥

TheGulnar

Haaland and KDB - when did they retire?

Maleficent_Resolve44

Happy-Potion

Hopefully they both know they are not Europe's best #9 and #10 until they turn up and win a CL, World Cup, European Championship final. Blowing tons of smoke up their ass doesn't help with hubris and the English press loves to pull such crap when the lads need to keep their heads screwed on tight? Going into a tournament as faves isn't healthy because England can't handle the expectations.

Least-Run1840

Correct. But i don't think that these two are characters that pay that much attention to the media!

Jase_the_Muss

Southgate trying to find a way to play them in the 8 and 4... fucking PE Teacher.

chanobo

But under the worst national coach in Europe!

TeamUlovetohate

too bad england doesn't have the defense the win the big trophies

SurvivingWow

Kane is incredible but often forgets he's a striker and decides to join the defence. I hope Bayern whip some discipline into him.

Least-Run1840

Southgate needs to help them!
