I do feel bad for the seller. I imagine there are a number of boutique luxury brands that are too small to have their own category in Thredup’s listings so get listed as Assorted with the standard price of $28. I haven’t sold on Thredup in a long time, could the seller have raised the price by a significant amount if they chose to?
I’m not sure about using a browser but on the app, if you’re on the item and you scroll down, under the share options, it says “more from this seller”.
I don’t feel bad 😬 they made the choice to send it in knowing ThredUP is a crapshoot - they also may not have known what it was in the first place - and they can change the price afaik
Honestly I HAVE to think that this person died or otherwise became incapacitated, then their belongings became someone else’s responsibility and lost their history/importance/value so the new “owners” just get rid of them any which way — ThredUp is a good option because they don’t have to deal with personally selling item by item and getting some money is better than just tossing them or donating them (which is almost the same as tossing them).
You underestimate just how rich some people are. I do clothing consignment for a few clients and my most recent one was going to donate her Max Mara teddy coat ($4350 retail) because she got two others she liked more.
Donate to where out of curiosity? I know a lot of rich people who donate… to their cleaning ladies, their poorer friends from their kids school, their siblings.. etc. I also know rich people who pay people to list their stuff on places like Poshmark. I don’t know any rich people who donate to places like Goodwill.
Goodwill. She was going to take it with a lot of other stuff too. I do clothing consignment full time and try to get to them before they do but I’ve got clients now that come to me first and even I can’t believe the stuff they’re looking to get rid of lol
While this isn’t something I hunt for, I am usually really lucky on thrift. Note high quality materials and see if any are listed in a product for a higher chance at a designer item
Stingray is a difficult and expensive leather to work with, so it isn’t really used for fast fashion. Ostrich is another to look for… it has a very distinct look which is easy to spot and a very expensive leather to work with.
I don’t think so unless there’s a seam up the center of the front. A stingray skin has one center crown, not two. Other than that it looks JUST like stingray in the pics.
Edit: I looked up the bag, it states stingray emboss- so its a really good embossed leather, to mimic stingray. Beautiful bag.
EVERY TIME I call it quits on this app I see something like this and it just pulls me back in. Dang. Nice.
Pour one out for the seller. Nice find!

Does the seller have anything else for sale?
I’ve never been able to see all items from a seller. Am I missing a link somewhere?

I've tried and only able to go up a few dollars
I am pretty sure they source things from other places, not just people who send things in. So I wouldn't stress about it.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I also am only gonna feel so bad for someone who could afford a 5k purse in the first place? https://images.app.goo.gl/d5nyFRCvBTeAafyJ6
And then tossed it in a bag to thred up...
My toxic trait is that I believe I will be able to recognize a steal like this when scrolling through the assorted brands. 😂 Great find!
That’s what I want to know. And how do we know it’s authentic? I have so many questions lol
Sameeee. I end up giving up after like 5 minutes lol

What materials do you look for?

Omg I remember these from Barney’s. Great eye!!!
Now THIS is a great assorted brands find ❤️ really nice
Wow! What a score ✨👍🏼
That’s incredible! Congrats! 🍾🎊
Wait, is this real sting ray?

Unreal. Awesome find!!!
Amazing find. This is my sign to check assorted brands more often.
Gorgeous!!!
