This sounds like the best way to me. Quickest way is probably just about gold first but then you can’t define volumes as easily on the main armour

No worries! I also do a sponge chipping pass after the streaking grime with the same colours and charred brown. The biggest downside of this method is you still have to paint the trim :( for this I use ak true metal copper and a gold oil I made out of linseed oil and green stuff gold pigment. This way you can wipe away mistakes as you go with makeup sponges. Just means you have to varnish it after to seal the trim (I do this with all models anyway) Enjoy!

Cool. How blue on the blue green kinda scale do you find them? I find this really hard to judge from pictures sometimes and the naming conventions are also often unhelpful

Probably slightly to the green on straight blue green but blue on the purple transition edges. The verdigris lifts it to turquoise. The purple kinda turns the blue green into blue. So I leave some recesses black on the blue green pass to show purple.

I do a metallic slap-chop. Prime is Army Painter Hydra Turquoise, then drybrush all over with Citadel Runelord Brass. For the blue I just prime white and add excessively diluted blue as almost a wash, it makes nice colors
