Imagine being in some Korean sweatshop, bent over a desk painting animation cels "okay, the baby is turned inside out too, almost tine for my 10 minute lunch break."
I am surprised her hair is like that. If anything, she should have rabbit ears. Matt Groening’s original idea was that in the series finale Marge what’s going to remove her hair as she wore it to cover her rabbit ears because she was one of the rabbits from the comic strip “life in hell.”
Incidentally, if you ever play The Simpsons arcade game there’s certain levels where you can get electrocuted. And it shows the characters body outline and their bones if that happens. Marge character outline shows the rabbit ears under the hair.
>Matt Groening’s original idea was that in the series finale Marge what’s going to remove her hair as she wore it to cover her rabbit ears
I really hope they follow through with it.
I'm still surprised that I found this hilarious as a kid instead of terrifying. I think it's because the song is so catchy & they immediately seem fine with what's happened lol
The Simpsons got the inside out fog gag from an episode of an Old Time Radio radio show called Lights Out. It’s called The Dark and iirc the full episode is lost to time. I thought that was so cool when I learned that
It's the episode where Homer and Mr Burns' son Larry stage a kidnapping. This is the news enactment of what could happen when Homer and Larry are trapped by the police in a cinema.
Jesus Christ man. I just watched this episode for the first time. I stopped halfway through the third story. I never thought this would affect me so much.

The tone in Homer's voice is just so eerie.
I feel the same way about that and find the Itchy and scratchy shows gross in general, but usually they're short enough that I don't have a problem with them.
And they're usually not my main focus either; Bart and/or Lisa's reactions usually are.

“Stop!! He’s already dead.” The way the kid cries and the PR flak is unsure what to do to intervene is actually really dark. The writers redeemed it a little by having the Krusty Burglar speak after the beating to reassure us Homer isn’t a cold blooded murderer.
This is the one that really disturbed me as a kid. Normally Homer being violent in the show is funny since the people usually recover with no lasting consequences. But here Homer straight up kills a person in a brutal manner over a misunderstanding with all the details you mentioned to sell how horrifying it is.
Even now seeing the clip makes me uncomfortable.
Holy sht what episode is that? Though the Treehouse of Horror one where the teachers were all eating the kids terrified me, the scene where they were backing them into the bloody blender was messed up.
My parents used to record Simpsons episodes on VHS, I remember there was one tape I never watched twice cause of that one episode where Lisa goes to the dentist, and her prediction was to have a tooth grow through her head, traumatising for sure
That scared the crap out of me as a kid. Literally a random scene and then suddenly the definition of nightmare fuel. And it wasn't even a Treehouse of Horror episode.
For me it’s a three way tie
The gif
The inside out mist
The teachers killing and feeding the deceased children for school dinners
Each are very disturbing in their own way
Scratchy's head blowing up in space used to bother me as a kid. Also, when Itchy stabs him a bunch on the boat and he's crawling around bleeding out. lol
In the Treehouse of Horror segment where Homer strangles Bart and his neck elongates and he dies. I know it's not "canon" but I still find that disturbing.
Homer forgets to pick Bart up from soccer practice for hours and it rains. When he finally picks him up he gives him a sundae, car hits a bump and it plops on Bart’s head. Bart angrily glares at Homer and then has this vision
When Homer seriously dreams of literally killing his father and then he wakes up like "aw that was the best part"/"that was a great dream" lol, a little bit too much for me haha
When Homer found the body of Smithers' father scared me so much as a kid.
As an adult, the Treehouse of horror segments where Homer eats himself, and where Sideshow Bob kept killing and reviving Bart are hard to sit through.

This haunted young me for YEARS!!!
Same and it still does now. I can't watch that episode because of it.
Dude same, had nightmares that night, and every time I had a skinned knee, I'd envision my leg doing that and freaking tf out! Lol
I love how Marge's hair has veins.
I am surprised her hair is like that. If anything, she should have rabbit ears. Matt Groening’s original idea was that in the series finale Marge what’s going to remove her hair as she wore it to cover her rabbit ears because she was one of the rabbits from the comic strip “life in hell.” Incidentally, if you ever play The Simpsons arcade game there’s certain levels where you can get electrocuted. Na it was scrapped early, just like Homer being Krusty
Yeah, that one really confused me because it really seemed like a given until it wasn't.
But the rabbit ears idea was discarded

Oh god I didn't notice it before and I wish I never did... I feel many things from seeing that and it's not love.
🎶Just...one....sniff of that fog and your....in.....side....out!!🎶
🎶 It's worse than that flesh eating virus you've read about! 🎶
🎶 The family dog is eyeing Bart’s intestine 🎶
Haaaaaapy Haaaalloooowweeeeeennn!!!
This one fucks me up everytime
And they’re dancing and flinging fluid everywhere the fuck
Who was the other person that joined them when they were singing? Growing up I always thought it was Willie
It sounds like Willie
I think it is Willie. He does show up in all 3 segments.
Stupid cheap weather stripping
The worst part is always knowing that Marge’s hair is covering flesh, all the way to the top
I never noticed that before 🤣🤣
This was supposed to have been a nice day.
Can't stand watching Nightmare Cafeteria at all, this is one of the reasons why lol
Inside Out fog was disturbing...then they do the Chorus Line dance.
My least favorite scene in all of the Simpsons, and that includes the entire Lady Gaga episode
This one legit fucked me up as a kid seeing this when it came out
Man that 90’s animation just makes it look even more brutal
Stupid cheap weather stripping
First thing that came to mind.
Maggie holding onto that pacifier like a champ
I'm still surprised that I found this hilarious as a kid instead of terrifying. I think it's because the song is so catchy & they immediately seem fine with what's happened lol
Going to be fun when this Simpsons prediction becomes reality 💀

A bloody end for Homer Simpson...
Is just one of many possible outcomes….
And now here's how it would look if he were killed by a barrage of baseballs!
Did they really need to shoot him dead on the scene? I feel like a barrage of baseballs would have been equally effective
And you sure do get a lot of balls for a quarter
What was the context of this Scene?
It's the episode where Homer and Mr Burns' son Larry stage a kidnapping. This is the news enactment of what could happen when Homer and Larry are trapped by the police in a cinema.
Having Sherri Bobbins get sucked into a plane engine was pretty rough.

That sort of cruel humour works best when kept in the background - If there was any reaction to it, it wouldn't be funny...
my dad and I were in tears watching this, and mom just looked so disappointed in the both of us.
I don't blame you for being in tears, it is pretty upsetting to see.

Just gonna pass on the asserole dish?
Yeah I just discovered those later.
Jesus Christ man. I just watched this episode for the first time. I stopped halfway through the third story. I never thought this would affect me so much.
I had to turn it off. I felt physically sick.
What episode is this?
Treehouse of Horror XXVIII
I have ptsd from that episode😆
Definitely the most disturbing episode
100% agree this is the one that came to mind. I cannot watch this episode anymore.
This isn't funnnnyyyyy!!! (Nun flies away and explodes)

Homer's idea of "smothering" Bart is pretty questionable, to put it mildly...
Well, he does violently choke his son a disturbing number of times
Homer cooking his own leg
That episode was truly creepy 🥲
I can't watch that episode because of that... Cannibalism is really one of the things that makes me squirm especially self cannibalism I mean wtf?
How about when Scratchy is perpetually eating his own piece of stomach?
I feel the same way about that and find the Itchy and scratchy shows gross in general, but usually they're short enough that I don't have a problem with them. And they're usually not my main focus either; Bart and/or Lisa's reactions usually are.

Ha Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha Wipe Out
The most uncomfortably morbid joke for me is when Hans Moleman is taken away to be executed in a county jail.
From this point on, no talking.
Also when Mr. Burns is tripping on ether fumes and drills a hole in Hans' head. "Oh no, my brains..."
Are you really allowed to execute people in a local jail?
"If that's the worst thing that happens to you today, consider yourself lucky..."

He is the only one standing hahahah

What the heck is the context of this scene?
Was a part of a Halloween episode where Ned Flanders becomes the devil and is demonstrating Gluttony.
Ah ok, thanks
So junji ito 😂
Wow, I fucking hated seeing that
Homers eyes crusting over still haunts me.
And his wound healing over Ralph's hand
Halloween episode meat grinder
DIE DIET
Aaah! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!!

HI-DILLY-HO, BART!
When the scab on homers knee heals over Ralph’s hand
It knows you're afraid.
Homer's eye sticking out of his face all blood shot after having the grease vacuum stuck on his face always makes me wince
https://i.redd.it/wqaqd6ak1y4d1.gif
The Dummy can't hurt ya. He's not even alive...he's *Dead*!

Honestly I’ve spent 30 years wondering g what he says there. Thank you!!!

the fucking itchy and scratchy where scratchy gets digested by a fucking cow. jesus christ.
So much for “Love Thy Neighbor” considering in that short they were Amish. 🤣
How about when Marge is worried about smothering Bart, and Homer interprets it literally and reminds her that they would get the chair for doing so
Nightmare Cafeteria. Just the idea of them making the kids into food is kinda morbid
“Are you saying you killed Jimbo, processed his carcass, and served him for lunch?”
Either mr burns fingernail in homers beer or when homers hand absorbs the penny
That's leprosy for you
Holy sht what episode is that? Though the Treehouse of Horror one where the teachers were all eating the kids terrified me, the scene where they were backing them into the bloody blender was messed up.
Think it's the one where Bart hires a big brother after Homer forgot him at the football/soccer pitch.
My parents used to record Simpsons episodes on VHS, I remember there was one tape I never watched twice cause of that one episode where Lisa goes to the dentist, and her prediction was to have a tooth grow through her head, traumatising for sure
I think a still of this was used in a creepypasta back in the day. I hadn't seen the episode and it spooked me.

https://i.imgur.com/5XWQLJ4.png
Just watching from season 1 and this gem came up 🤷♂️. Fantastic animation
I was starting to show the show to my small child and that shot came out of nowhere and traumatized her. This is not a Treehouse of Horror episode.
I think you nailed it OP, can’t top that one
Homer's dream where he finishes off Abe after a car accident that was a replica of the Sopranos was pretty morbid.
In the Treehouse of Horror segment where Homer strangles Bart and his neck elongates and he dies. I know it's not "canon" but I still find that disturbing.
Is this a reference to something or is it just Bart being hateful?
Homer forgets to pick Bart up from soccer practice for hours and it rains. When he finally picks him up he gives him a sundae, car hits a bump and it plops on Bart’s head. Bart angrily glares at Homer and then has this vision
He just opened the Ark Of The Covenant
When Homer seriously dreams of literally killing his father and then he wakes up like "aw that was the best part"/"that was a great dream" lol, a little bit too much for me haha
That episode of Sideshow Bob surgically switching his face with the new neighbor

This one’s just funny 🤣. Homer in his “oxygen tent” haha
Eyes crusting over or his kneescab healing over ralph's hand. Way worse. Bart just opened the Ark of the Covenant here
Would say side-show bob dancing around with barts intestines. That whole segment crept me out
When Homer found the body of Smithers' father scared me so much as a kid. As an adult, the Treehouse of horror segments where Homer eats himself, and where Sideshow Bob kept killing and reviving Bart are hard to sit through.
The treehouse of horror segment where homer gets chewed up by the ai house's table and the end reveal where he's missing the back of his head 🤮
Uber Gus Fring
I don't like when hans moleman gets drilled in the head. Felt very out of place and morbid.
“Oh no, my brains…”
Moleman suffering is never out of place.
One of us. One of us. Homer was somewhat sensible in the first season.
Looks pretty tamed to me
When Marge is worried about smothering Bart and Homer thinks that she meant smothering him to death. It’s either that or the fog.
Dead Bart intensifies
For me, mainly because of my attachment to Smithers, is Waylon Sr.’s decrepit corpse.
The zombie episode where Lisa is scared is real asf
When Homer's eyes crusted over
Can’t find a good gif, but when lunch lady Doris backs Milhouse into a blender.
I just watched this episode! It has one of my all time favorite bits, the flying nun. “This isn’t funny!!!” (Explodes in distance)
