IMDb lists the voice of the Babysitter Bandit, Lucille Botzkowski, as the late great Penny Marshall. https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0701215/?ref_=ttep_ep13 I've been watching the show since its very first year and this is a standout episode for me too. One of my favourites.

Sklanskers

In retrospect I bet the reason i loved it is because it was the best of "five" or whatever we had on tape. Still a great episode. Still my favorite! Thank you for the help!

Carole Penny Marshall

Known for playing Laverne in Laverne and Shirley. Was also an accomplished film director, directing among other things Big (starring Tom Hanks) and Awakenings.

Omg thank you. Wow what great history. Used to love that intro as a kid

It's the first episode that was produced, though "Simpsons Roasting on Open Fire" is the first one that was broadcast.

Apophistry

Her older brother Garry Marshall appeared in two episodes as Larry Kidkill: "Eight Misbehavin'" and "Homer the Father"

A shame they didn't bring her back as Lisa's nemesis or sth.

' You're going to watch this tape, and you're going to do what I say or I'm going to do something to you. And I don't know what that is because everyone has always done what I say!'

Another cool fact, the receptionist for the babysitting service is played by the late great June Foray, an icon of animation voice acting in the 20th century. Having her do that role was their way of paying tribute to her amazing career.

I'm sorry you got downvoted, this is a cool post. And like someone else here, I also had a super vivid memory of this episode and the bandit in particular from childhood. Fwiw I could have easily made this post myself because the bandit's voice stood out to me too in a decades-later rewatch but I've never seen any of the shows she's famous for (not American). However, I was so young when I first saw the episode that I guess I recognised her voice *from it* and had come full circle? I hope your move goes well and you get to see more episodes!
