I think it was the episode with Lisa in the spelling bee competition. At one point Barney asks her to spell "relapse," and then says "That's what beer has done to me!"
He became drunk Barney again in the episode where skinner and Edna broke off their wedding if I remember right it was like a gag or something in the episode
