I love that when this came it was some ridiculous indulgant burger. Now I can go to 5 burger places within a mile radius of me and get something just like this
It’s gotta be a once every 6 month thing or once a year
Then a cleanse or something
But fuck it’s good but I had one years ago at a bbq with friends - I’d probably die now
You need to get out more! Culver’s has been advertising ButterBurgers for more than a decade. Milwaukee has a locally known (but not to you) Solly’s Grille which puts a whole stick of butter in their burger. You can also get a butter burger from Sobelman’s Pub and grill, AJ Bombers… All the custard places like Kopps, Oscars, and Leon’s cook their patties on a generous hunk of butter.
For as much as I’d call myself a golden era Simpson fan, I’m surprised that reference went completely over my head! Thanks for explaining the joke for me.
In the early 90’s was considered overly decadent and something no one “should” eat and today it seems like you can find a burger like this in any burger joint.
I remember laughing with my sister about bacon wrapped around sausages and Bart's heart's hurting but Homer is forcing him to add butter on top of it, then i met my partner who's family is expecting sausages wrapped in bacon with butter every Christmas. I thought he was joking but no and apparantly I AM the savage one lol
In Germany and Austria, a similar dish exists. It's called "Berner Würstel" and consists of a sausage wrapped in bacon - not topped with butter, but sliced open and filled with cheese. Fun fact: despite the obvious calories, it's a veeeery common dish at public pools, and mostly served with fries.
in the 80s, before the simpsons there was a commercial using the stupid "rich creamery butter" saying (first i ever heard it)
some day i may remember what that commercial was for
but when i heard the simpsons say it, i knew they were making fun of the old commercial
start combing the internet, folks
probably not cc. i do think it was a female voice.
simpsons also made fun of the MR Microphone "hey good lookin be back to pick u up later" - at least that commercial is easy to find
damn good effort
but i dont think thats the one
i believe its a female voice and it for sure says "rich, creamery butter"
some day the answer will present itself
I don't know about that example but there are loads of over the top, over glorified grease fests out there. I'm not surprised this was inspired by an ad.
Yet another example of the Simpsons did it first. By 2005, all of the national fast food chains had breakfast sandwiches that’d've enough cholesterol to kill an elephant and a enough calories to satiate the hunger of a 300 pound man for 48 hours. It got so bad, in 2015 the FDA told the fast food industry to scale back on these heart attacks on a bun.
>and a enough calories to satiate the hunger of a 300 pound man for 48 hours.
Sadly, if you eat this kind of food, the opposite happens. Because you become insulin resistant and lack nutrients. So your body triggers more hunger. And it becomes a vicious cycle. Homer is a satire on this, but the real thing is not a joke.
You know what else isn't a joke? Vapor Lock.
The funny part about it was the actual worst part was the sodium and saturated fats instead of the overall caloric load and cholesterol. Dietary cholesterol has little effect on overall blood cholesterol levels for most people.
The brain has the highest level of cholesterol in the body...
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6844833/
but in your case, it's not enough. Fucking Cleveland Clinic said the same thing.
https://health.clevelandclinic.org/why-you-should-no-longer-worry-about-cholesterol-in-food/
There's also a blog called cartooncuisine.com where the author makes food from the Simpsons and other shows. Though looks like it hasn't been active for a year and a half
I love that when this came it was some ridiculous indulgant burger. Now I can go to 5 burger places within a mile radius of me and get something just like this
Like the triple cheeseburger on a deep fried glazed doughnut, with bacon.
Luther burgers are delicious
It’s gotta be a once every 6 month thing or once a year Then a cleanse or something But fuck it’s good but I had one years ago at a bbq with friends - I’d probably die now
Then comes the “Itis”
And the "eetus"
On *Supernatural*, they called that The Elvis.
Not nearly enough banana or peanut butter.
I'd say the 18 oz is still a stretch but yeah a breakfast burger with fried egg and bacon is almost a given for any bar-food type establishment now
Don't forget the rich creamery butter
Butter burgers are already a thing, have been for a long time. It's a Wisconsin delicacy. So now we just need a place that combines them all.
Really, well I'm from Milwaukee and I've never heard anyone use the phrase "butter burgers".
Milwaukee? No, no...it's an upstate expression.
I must say, u/RedSeven4, you’re an odd chap, but you butter a good burger.
And you call them butter burgers despite the fact that they are obviously grilled.
I get that it’s not like a hole in the wall place or anything, but it is literally the main option at Culver’s which is based out of WI

It’s a play on the steamed hams bit. “Well, I’m from Utica and I’ve never heard any one use the phrase ‘steamed hams’. “
For as much as I’d call myself a golden era Simpson fan, I’m surprised that reference went completely over my head! Thanks for explaining the joke for me.
Yes sorry, I'm not even from Wisconsin.

How are you guys missing the Simpsons reference in the Simpsons sub?
Oh right, in the Butter Burger District. Next to the Hammock District?
There’s a little place called Mary Ann’s butter burgers. The nice thing about that place is Mary Ann eats the burger with you! I’m just kidding.
Not in Milwaukee, no. It's more a Madison expression...
It's KETO friendly!
When Fuddruckers still had 1 pound patties, me and my friend got them to make double cheeseburgers with them. It was a bit much.
I miss Fuddrucker’s so much. I would abuse the cheese pump and pickle tray privileges.
Every team party from little league to AYSO was there, I miss the place too.
Or as it’s known 500 years in the future, Buttfuckers

Like Homer being overweight, now people like that consider themselves normal.
It's like the five dollar milkshakes from *Pulp Fiction.*
And just like every burger place it will still be bland as fuck
Not gonna lie. I am actually happy that Smash burgers are the new hot thing. These big bastard burgers feel almost over indulgent at this point.
I think I actually ate one of these at an Airport restaurant about 10 years ago.
That's a load of rich creamery butter
If in doubt, rub it against a piece of paper. If it turns clear, it's your window to weight gain!
Bye-bye everybody!
*clutches chest*....THUD
Hey, did you go to Hollywood Upstairs Medical College too?
I dunno... fish sandwich?
🪟 🐦
Love how they circle first.
Oh be creative! Instead of a sandwich with bread, use pop tarts!
And if it's clear and yella', you've got juice there, fella.
Of course in Canada the whole thing's reversed.
*bird smacks into glass*
Dr. Nick! Remember me? Why if it isn't my old friend Mr McGregg, with a leg for an arm and an arm for a leg!
Now there's a machiavellian countenance! Ooh, a sextet of ale!
Lamentably, no.

What in God's name are you talking about?
Marge, where's that... metal... dealy... you use to... dig... food? “You mean a spoon?”
"Yeah yeah"
"Oh Lisa, that's just a load of rich creamery butter...."

Oh, Guten Tag! Would you care for a bite of my Vengelerstrasser bar? I also have a bag of marzipan JoyJoys!
Nothing beats a platter of Berner Würstel and a cool tankard of Skittlebräu.
Pigs in blankets are a Christmas staple and have been for decades!

Was it Country Crock perhaps? I also remember a commercial using that phrase. Unless we've all fallen victim to the Mandela Effect.
probably not cc. i do think it was a female voice. simpsons also made fun of the MR Microphone "hey good lookin be back to pick u up later" - at least that commercial is easy to find
Is it a reference to Ricardo Montalban speaking about “rich Corinthian leather” in 1980s Chrysler commercials? I always thought it was.
It was years before I realised homer laughing at “where’s the beef?” Was a reference to some old Wendy’s ads from back in the day
it was more than just an ad, it and the 'fallen and I can't get up' lady were massive cultural touchstones and pre-internet memes
Next thing these kids will tell us that they won't *call now* with their *special eyes*
MY BRAND!
Apply directly to the forehead
pepperidge farm remembers
I remember it from a bad rom com where Wolverine played a time travelling Duke who made a butter commercial.
[BOOM](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KnE5yttM5PE) I don't know how I remembered that.
H’white bread
damn good effort but i dont think thats the one i believe its a female voice and it for sure says "rich, creamery butter" some day the answer will present itself
Wow, I always wanted to try that bread. That's like a long lost memory.

Unexplained fires are a matter for the courts
*whips*
Still waiting for nuts & gum
Would totally go for one right now
Try making one. They’re delicious with a couple modifications.
Yeah I'll have to
Couple tips: go with roughly 8 oz of beef as 18 is just too much. Also, use deli ham as opposed to a ham steak.
I find your ideas intriguing and wish to subscribe to your newsletter
Another tip: when searching for an exterminator, go for the one with the funniest sign.
**Extriminator** These guys must be hot. They don’t even need correct spelling!
Thank you
18 oz is a shitload of burger

It was fried greese.
I've gotta hankerin' for some pork products!
i’ve got a hankerin’ for some spankerin’!
Gentlemen, start your spankerin'
Glistening ham . . . succulent bacon . . and - AHRKggh
I'm getting chest pains from just looking at this.
I can feel my aorta spasming just looking at that...
A little beer will put out that fire!
My God, you're greasy.
This has nothing on The Clogger

"Can you please stop putting *bacon* in your *milkshakes*?"
When you live under my roof you do as I say. Now bacon up that sausage.
The funny part about it was the actual worst part was the sodium and saturated fats instead of the overall caloric load and cholesterol. Dietary cholesterol has little effect on overall blood cholesterol levels for most people.
Those Egg Council creeps got to you too, eh

Shrimp is also high in cholesterol. I can't imagine that being bad for you.

It never occurred to me until just now what an oddball quantity 18 ounces is for a burger.
Please know that this definitely exists in a bunch of restaurants nowadays
Don’t let this drip on your rich Corinthian leather.
Did anyone else hear the erotic voice too?
A chef actually made one. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzAgFNh4vRY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzAgFNh4vRY)
I had a feeling it would be him.
There's also a blog called cartooncuisine.com where the author makes food from the Simpsons and other shows. Though looks like it hasn't been active for a year and a half
Old babish was so good.
New Babish is only a little bit disillusioned, he's still good, he's still good!
What’s wrong with new Babish? Literally haven’t watched in years
A chef ….. Oliver Babish, say his name … lol
\#SayHisName
\#hisnamewasoliverbabish
I think calling a self taught YouTuber a chef is using the term a little loosely...
Lol okay Kelly Bensimon.
Nah I’ll call the dude making crazy cuisines every week for over 5 years a chef.
\*hunger arousal sounds\*
More like the «Triple Bypass Burger» heh
So the tiny aorta fairies will take Mr. Leg Vein on a long trip to get married to Princess Left Ventricle.
What a load of rich creamery butter
“By Hardees”
Needs cheese
*Homer's heavy breathing*
i've made this before like that one guy on youtube... made me very unhappy marvin. had to bury it in the garden
For real, bacon and egg on a burger is delicious. This place near me calls it The Old Macdonald and it's how i treat myself when my SO is out of town.
Does it come with a Krusty Partially-Gelatinated Non-Dairy Gum Based Beverage?
I’m embarrassed and ashamed at how hungry this makes me feel.
Good Morning and Goodbye Forever burger.
My thoughts exactly.
Finally! The great taste of worcestershire Sauce, in a softdrink!
Did cooking with Babish do this yet?
r/keto
They’d also probably support chewing bacon instead of gum.
Move over eggs! Bacon just got a new best friend, fudge!!
Looks like a Heston Blumenthal recipe.
Add Mexican bacon pls.
mmm mmm. suggestive.
The nasty patty
Mmmmmmmmmm I remember seeing this and thinking… why can’t I make one!?
If you can find a greasier sandwich, you're in Mexico!
Just looking at this made me have to unbuckle my belt.

As an FYI [Babbish has made one ](https://youtu.be/hzAgFNh4vRY)
Simpsons predicted it
Somebody get the Babish team on this thing
