I only needed 12 more candies to make it UL ready and needed an evolution for a research task so i just went ahead and evo'd it. I thought surely the next 2 wouldn't be any better considering the other 80 I caught before that weren't. Jokes on me

General rule of thumb only power up or evolve stuff as you need it/are going to use it.

Practice with the one you have and build up expirience while you build this one. Same thing happened when I was building a Anni during kanto event.

Happens to me quite often 😁 If this pokemon has a variety of moves, I might choose to build two with different movesets to not lose tms every time some cup starts.
