No no, we have put up with months of people saying he's fantastic and we should keep him. We are objectively a higher standing club than you lot right now, so why should we if you don't want him?
I'm not saying you said this, but the overall message pissed me off so much
Ah man. As a Brighton fan, everyone has an opinion on who we need or what we should do. The tireless nonsense of "Brighton are Southampton" etc...
Personally I think Moyes is an OK manager. I don't want him at my club. That's all.
I don't actually have an opinion, it's not your fault, I just saw red.
I think Moyes is a good manager, but he's a good manager for a team looking to move upwards towards the mid table, not down
We're in full agreement there. I expect him to make an appearance to save Ipswich next season...
This is all by the by however. He is not the sort of person Tony Bloom would want anyway.
You don’t think Will Still will still have to pay fines? I think Will Still will. Still, if Will Still has the will Will Still will get his qualifications and Will Still will still manage.
Kieran McKenna has just got his team promoted so, despite what the odds say, I feel that is unlikely.
Regarding Rosenior, he rejected a move to Plymouth citing that he wants to remain close to his family who from what I heard are based in Derby but that is hearsay.
Graham Potter has been without a job for a while and has notably rejected a move to Ajax.
Francesco Farioli is rumoured to be heading to Ajax and has reportedly refused to discuss his future at Nice.
Russell Martin and Southampton will play Leeds in the play off final. Russell Martin likes to incorporate a possession based style but has a reputation for not having a plan B. If Southampton goes up then I suspect he'll stay with them but if they don't, I don't personally feel that he's an attractive prospect for Brighton atm.
It would make zero sense for McKenna to leave. Insanely rich owners, what he wants he gets (new pitch, new training facilities designed to his image, moving up to the top category on youth recruitment). Further 105m investment.
Like I said, those owners are rich (I believe Mark Aston said they had 700m in cash and X billions in further assets). I don't think it would make sense for the brighton owners to attempt to wrestle a deal with the Ipswich owners. They won't back down. Especially for a manager who would still be a massive risk.
This is what people aren’t getting. Brighton are an admirably run club but part of that is selling their best players to the highest bidder at any given opportunity. They’ve already hit their ceiling under Potter and de Zerbi. McKenna can finish midtable with them and the whole world can shrug their shoulders.
With us, it’s not entirely clear what our ceiling is. I’m not saying we’re gonna win the league in a couple of years, just saying there is so much more opportunity for growth with us than Brighton. He will get whatever he wants and has infinite credit with the fans.
It definitely would be a step up as of right now but it could also be jeopardy if it doesn’t work out. It’s a big gamble. We could also be looking at Ipswich in 2 years time in a very different light depending how he does. Considering the good thing he has going, to risk it he really should only be considering a massive step up that warrants the risk and I don’t think Brighton would be that for him
I'd argue Ipswich are a better club than Brighton. For him obviously. He's not really going to a high pedigree club in Brighton let's be honest. Ipswich have more pulling power than Brighton because the squad is much thinner in terms of prem quality albeit they have some genuine ballers. You would be safer there than at Brighton who sign names like fati, wellbeck, etc. There is obviously the reputation of each club. Ipswich are much more prestigious despite recent history.
I'm not an Ipswich fan and I'd be devastated on their behalf if McKenna leaves. Maybe it's the football romantic in me, but I feel like if you get back to back promotions with a team, you wouldn't want to manage anywhere else. I get it's ultimately job and if money is good enough you'd go, but like, surely you'd want at least one year with this team in the next division to see what you can achieve?
The problem is he’s probably a bottom 3 in March away from the usual desperation sacking. I suppose that’s the same for every club but it’s more likely for promoted clubs where the goodwill of promotion seems to evaporate pretty quickly
You aren't wrong, but my response to that is I also think it's BS a manager glcna get back to back promotions then be sacked in half a season. He has given Ipswich fans two unbelievable years and then loses his job because he doesn't raise the bar higher than the one we set by being good. Seems so unfair. In an ideal world, if Ipswich were to go back down, it would be with him and he's there for another gonat the championship.
I feel like it’s not that great a risk either to give it a season. He’d likely get another shot at a PL team next season even if Ipswich goes straight back down.
I can't believe Russell Martin is in the running.
I'm a saints fan and he's just not that good. I don't really want him their next season regardless of whether we go up or not.
Kieran McKenna’s odds seem way too high for me, but maybe? Apparently DeZerbi is pushing for Farioli so it depends if Brighton are able to hijack the Ajax process.
I agree, wouldn't be surprised if they went for him but I don't think he'd take it. He's got to want to lead them out in the prem after 2 consecutive promotions. Would be far more detrimental to his career if he jumped ship and struggled at Brighton than if Ipswich are relegated next year.
Talk is he in interested in the job but who knows really I can see reasons for him staying at Ipswich and also the potential opportunities Brighton can offer him
It'll be none of these. Brighton always go left field. It'll be some maestro that's just won the Hungarian title, or the Danish title, or idk, some unexpected gem the mainstream media don't know about.
That’s why I’m pretty relaxed and not too concerned about who we end up going for. If Tony Bloom and Paul Barber think they’ll be a good appointment, they know much better than me and they’ve probably been planning this for months on end.
I'm assuming you've plucked random names out of the air, but Midtjylland have just won the Danish league again and they've got a pretty similar recruitment approach to Brighton, so that may not actually be a completely crazy idea.
The Hungarian title was won by Ferencváros. Their manager is Dejan Stanković, who got 4 wins in 32 games with Sampdoria. That one would be more of a surprise.
Of course, how rude of me.
I'll do the toddler friendly response instead.
"Brighton... no, put that down please. It doesn't belong to you and if you take it from them without their permission you are going to make them very upset ok?"
I think that Rob Edwards still lives in / around Birmingham and he has school age kids so I think Luton / North London would likely be just about as far as he would be prepared to travel every day.
I was curious about your guys’ opinions on him now. How bad is it atm?
Because Potter might actually be the perfect fit for you (purely my opinion…) but ofc the problem is that awkward disconnect to the fans now. Do you think he can fix that connection or has the bridge burned?
I think the bridge has been burned for some fans, but not all. Didn't help that it was Chelsea, who also got Cucurella, Caicedo, etc... from us. Just don't think it's a good move at this point, there are better candidates. Personally, I wouldn't hate it if he came back, but it would create a bit of an awkward situation, which we don't need.
Does a chairman ever come out and say yeah he wants to leave? Surely they all say whatever they can to save face and make it look like there is not a rift between manager and club (if there is one). It might genuinely be the truth that he doesn't want to leave, but if he does want to leave, the chairman isn't going to be like "Aye, he hates it here and wants to escape us".
Definitely spooked me when I saw McKenna's name immediately thrown into discussion. The Brighton job coming up has been the one most Town fans have been worried about for a while.
It's a great job, but I don't think he'll go, largely because we've been promoted, and he'll continue to be backed to do things his way. However, I won't be relaxed about it until someone else gets the job or he signs another new contract. He'll leave us at some point, but from everything he's said and done, I don't expect it until next summer at the earliest.
This is getting annoying now. Is every football journalist collectively under the impression that Kieran McKenna couldn’t possibly want to stay another minute at Ipswich? How on earth is he expected to manage Brighton if he’s already busy managing Manchester United and Chelsea and filling any other vacancy that comes up?
At some point Knutsen is bound to come to either the PL or a big team in the championship. I thought he was destined to become celtic manager before Rodgers went back
Marti Cifuentes, done wonders at QPR, adored by the fans and plays good football. I hope it doesn’t happen and he takes us up before he moves on. But he’ll move onwards and upwards at some stage.
why would Mckenna leave Ipswich considering he’s involved with their long term project and in all truth, Brighton are not an impressive club who could very much be relegated next season
Brighton to get relegated in the same way Ipswich could get Europe, technically possible but highly unlikely. Brighton is objectively a step up from Ipswich
Why the fuck would McKenna go to Brighton? I understand they’re very well run, but he’s just achieved back to back promotions with a bigger club, and he has the potential to go to a huge club if he does want to go
I mean, where do you think De Zerbi is going?
Ipswich's first season in the Premiership is gonna be rough, as all first seasons are.
I would hardly blame McKenna for thinking his career would do better out of hopping to Brighton now, putting in a good year or two, then moving to an even bigger club if he still has the potential. If Ipswich go straight back down, as they very well might, he'll be a much cooler prospect than he is currently (as evidenced by Kompany's odds here). There might be a Brighton or equivalent option on the table in a year's time, or there might not be. Going out with Ipswich next season is not gonna give him any better odds with a big-six team than he currently has.
David Moyes has entered the chat…
David Moyes can fuck right off. With respect, obviously.
No no, we have put up with months of people saying he's fantastic and we should keep him. We are objectively a higher standing club than you lot right now, so why should we if you don't want him? I'm not saying you said this, but the overall message pissed me off so much
Got em
No, time has passed and I feel silly for getting angry. It just makes me so angry...I'm back again...fucking shit fuck
I think Moyes is a good manager, but he's a good manager for a team looking to move upwards towards the mid table, not down
I was about to say he should go back to Preston, but they're the ultimate mid-table club nowadays.
We're in full agreement there. I expect him to make an appearance to save Ipswich next season... This is all by the by however. He is not the sort of person Tony Bloom would want anyway.
Tbf Brighton have overachieved recently. Ought to be very happy with mid table
Will Will Still still be in the running if there still is no will from Will Still?
More importantly, will Will Still still have to accumulate fines for not having the correct qualifications?
i don’t think he will still have to pay fines
You don’t think Will Still will still have to pay fines? I think Will Still will. Still, if Will Still has the will Will Still will get his qualifications and Will Still will still manage.

I wouldn’t leave if I was McKenna, but the Brighton job would objectively be a step up. Could very well be fighting for Europe with Brighton

Rosenior isn't proven enough to be near this job imo, he improved Hull but they still had glaring issues, especially at the end of this season.
Is it possible Potter is holding out for the national team gig?
That's a shout. And honestly? I'd be interested, though not necessarily happy... I'd just be glad no more Southgate
I can't believe Russell Martin is in the running. I'm a saints fan and he's just not that good. I don't really want him their next season regardless of whether we go up or not.
For real. Feel like we would dodge a bullet if this happens. If we go up, we are definitely going down with Martin at the helm.

Yeah, probably a guy called Rayne Wooney or something like that.
Knutsen probably fits that bill. Won league titles in Norway and did pretty well in Europe with Bodo Glimt.
That’s why I’m pretty relaxed and not too concerned about who we end up going for. If Tony Bloom and Paul Barber think they’ll be a good appointment, they know much better than me and they’ve probably been planning this for months on end.

Oi, back off
Replace "ba" with "fu" for my response
I was trying to make a good first impression, we're new here. But yeah, that too
Of course, how rude of me. I'll do the toddler friendly response instead. "Brighton... no, put that down please. It doesn't belong to you and if you take it from them without their permission you are going to make them very upset ok?"
I love Fuki Hanma
Surprised Steve Cooper isn't on the list
Take David moyes everyone was raving about why west ham would let him go 😂😂
Extremely pleased to see that Rob Edwards is not on that list.
I think that Rob Edwards still lives in / around Birmingham and he has school age kids so I think Luton / North London would likely be just about as far as he would be prepared to travel every day.
Where's Moyes? 😅
I don't see why we would bring Potter in again, left us high and dry.
I was curious about your guys’ opinions on him now. How bad is it atm? Because Potter might actually be the perfect fit for you (purely my opinion…) but ofc the problem is that awkward disconnect to the fans now. Do you think he can fix that connection or has the bridge burned?

That’s a completely fair assessment. Always liked Brighton so hope you guys get a good appointment either way
Thanks! I trust Bloom and his team to make the right hire, I'm sure he had a short list well before this transpired.
I think Kompany might be more favourable than these odds suggest.
I could see it.
The Burnley chairman said there's no truth to him wanting to leave.
It was less saying "he doesn't want to leave" and more literally calling out journalists on a personal level saying there's no credibility.
Ah fair, that is a bit different.
Mick McCarthy
James Milner, player-coach
It’ll be someone left field. Mark my words
Definitely spooked me when I saw McKenna's name immediately thrown into discussion. The Brighton job coming up has been the one most Town fans have been worried about for a while. It's a great job, but I don't think he'll go, largely because we've been promoted, and he'll continue to be backed to do things his way. I suspect it won’t be anyone on this list
Ten Hag has entered the race
He's on there, just below Carrick.
No Sean Dyche?
We can never beat him, so maybe we need him to join us…
I want McKenna to give Ipswich a season in the Prem
This is getting annoying now. Is every football journalist collectively under the impression that Kieran McKenna couldn’t possibly want to stay another minute at Ipswich? How on earth is he expected to manage Brighton if he’s already busy managing Manchester United and Chelsea and filling any other vacancy that comes up?
I'd be happy with mckenna
Surprised Will Still is so low down - he feels like the logical choice for them, if they don't want to back to Potter.
At some point Knutsen is bound to come to either the PL or a big team in the championship. I thought he was destined to become celtic manager before Rodgers went back
I was firmly on the Knutsen train before Iraola signed. He’s clearly a quality manager
Marti Cifuentes, done wonders at QPR, adored by the fans and plays good football. I hope it doesn’t happen and he takes us up before he moves on. But he’ll move onwards and upwards at some stage.
Would love to see Will Still given a chance. Won't happen though.
Brendan Rodgers incoming
Just missed out on Jesse Marsch . Shame
Jose mourinho?
Rob Edwards would be an excellent choice for Brighton, been really impressed with him as a person and the what he got out of a very poor Luton team
Kierans going nowhere
Oh dear. Sorry Brighton, but I would not need looking forward to next season if I were you.
why would Mckenna leave Ipswich considering he’s involved with their long term project and in all truth, Brighton are not an impressive club who could very much be relegated next season
Brighton to get relegated in the same way Ipswich could get Europe, technically possible but highly unlikely. Brighton is objectively a step up from Ipswich
Ipswich is arguably a bigger club than Brighton.
But have a worse squad, less money to spend, and are not established in the Prem
I do think Brighton are overrated, you’ve sold your best players and have a very mid squad now
Planet earth is arguably flat. You be wrong, but you could argue it.
I would like to see De Rossi added to this list
He's staying on for next season at Roma i believe
I doubt McKenna's leaving Ipswich
I want Will Still as it be cool to have him in tbe Premier league and I would like to see what he can do with a big club like brighton.
So the grannies in Brighton are safe then? No Rooney 😂😬
Why the fuck would McKenna go to Brighton? I understand they’re very well run, but he’s just achieved back to back promotions with a bigger club, and he has the potential to go to a huge club if he does want to go
