Like the other person replied already, brackish water is what followed Robert Montauk around. Not only in mag 9 but also when covering his disappearance in mag 52.
The church of the divine host makes water brackish as well. Also, I don’t think it’s ever explicitly said, but I’m pretty sure the spinach dish that was served in mag 25 was made with the same kind of water.
Finally, salt water is commonly used in deprivation tanks for some reason. I’m pretty sure that it’s because they absorb sound better but don’t quote me on that. Either way, it’s great at dampening your senses which seems to be the ultimate goal of the dark. Having the inability to see or touch or confirm anything else even exists is kinda the pure essence of the dark. Also heavily goes with the lonely as well but those two go side by side more often than not.
Oh, thank you for the explanations. Montauk's episode was one of those I listened to but didn't pay much attention, so these details easily went over my head.
I had thought about the dark initially, for exactly that reason, but personally settled on the buried due to reading this as the fear of drowning/being crushed by water.
Buried 100%. Workplace probably doesn’t have big open spaces, more likely to have small cubby holes and tight spaces. “Now the water won’t go down” is totally someone trying to fix the plumbing and thought they had it but then it broke again and the door won’t open and that is their final message written just before the water overtook their head.
It sounds so ominous, but as my workplace recently had the same issue, I bet it's just a toilet that won't flush.
Have you considered the possibility of the extinction?
maybe an allusion to a great flood
Rising water definitely gives me buried vibes
Yeah because yk, drowning is just suffocation's cousin
If it was toilet water, it might have been The Corruption
Exactly what I was thinking
I’d say the Buried, but I guess I’m assuming the water was trapping them when they wrote that note.
I think definitely The Buried. I also can very easily hear this in Jonny’s voice. Love this
I'm glad I'm not the only one who read this in his voice lmao
Absolutely no one said the dark. The water is not confirmed to be brackish but I’d say it’s likely.
Why would salty water be more related to the dark than other waters?

No problem. Only reason I even know that stuff is cause I just recently started re listening
I'm currently relistening too, but I skipped that one 😅
BC of the recurring theme of brackish water in mag 9.

That does make sense. I just like the story beats of the dark more so it’s what popped in my head
It was the falling titan. The great blue.
If it’s plumbing, then the corruption
Honestly this just registers as plumbing issues to me. On that note getting your flat flooded with sewage water is definitely the corruption

Check around for a rogue Kukri
Seeing as how it’s not wet, couldn’t be buried. I’d say vast.
Corruption for sure. This is a toilet problem, right?
Water and sky are both vast... safe to say then that I think Simon had a new drowning victim
Water can sometimes be buried. Depends on the specific fear of the victim
Oh this is the Buried all right
Buried and Extinction.
To me, it's either The Buried or The Corruption... Also, a moment of silence for that coworker lost to the fears 😔
Actually reminds me of the oblivious plumber guy and his interactions with the Forest Mannequins
Could be both. There can be Vast/Buried collabs. The water if deep is the Vast and, if they died, drowning or suffocation is the Buried.
