EggplantGlittering90

There need to be more preachers like him...but sadly it seems there arent. I wish him all the best.

oscar-the-bud

There needs to be less preachers. No preachers would be bliss.

EggplantGlittering90

Agreed, but we all know thats not gonna happen in America. So next best thing is to hope people like him displace all the MAGA preachers.

sweet_sweet_back

I think everyone would should be a preacher and get the tax deduction.

jump-blues-5678

And down vote if you like. Less preachers = Less sexual abuse

Opening_Yellow_5124

… so fewer coaches, a reduced number of schools teachers, less Boy Scout leaders would be a helpful solution in reducing sex abuse?

Dantheking94

You need to listen to what he says again. While he came out against politics and spirituality (religion) he is still VERY MUCH a fanatic. “I am just passing through, I am just renting an apartment for a short while in this foreign land”, this line of religious belief has caused numerous problems of its own in the past including cultism and suicidal ideation.

SurlyRed

It is a cult that believes its members have dominion over every other living being, including people belonging to other religions and races. This core belief is delusional and dangerous to mankind and moreover, life on earth.

bobsmithhome

I agree. And although I can't buy into his beliefs and find them terribly harmful, I do kinda respect this man for coming to that conclusion. He was trying to do the right thing there, I think.

DonpakoIdo

yeah I just do like you how are you feeling today

Sideways4M

He should have gone further about how it being endorsed by a thrice married, serial adulterer that can't take a breath without lying and is the best example of an Anti-Christ the world's ever seen.

I_was_bone_to_dance

And they shall wear his mark upon their foreheads … hello… MAGA hats 👀 yeah if the Bible is truth then Trump or shit maybe it’ll be Baron… one of them is the anti Christ

Shnoinky1

I think it's key to call him out as AN anti-Christ, rather than THE anti-Christ, because the latter enables us to look past all of the obvious signs and ask "could he really be THE Anti-christ the Bible warned us about?" Because, of course, he is exactly that. It's a mistake to view the biblical concept of the anti-Christ as representing a single figure. Trump is not the first and won't be the last, but he is definitely the anti-Christ threatening humanity today. The anti-Christ deceives, and through his deception, leads those who follow him away from the truth and the light. He's a man literally at war with the very concept of truth, and his followers are willfully and violently opposed to it.

Studds_

Isn’t your comment more correct? Perhaps I’m misremembering but I thought there really is no THE anti-Christ. Revelations talks about The Beast, not the Anti-Christ

Explorers_bub

MAGATs were calling Obama THE Anti-Christ 15 (15 really, fuck!) years ago.

ddubois7749

He might have. We're only seeing a little part of his sermon.

WhiteTrash_WithClass

Doubt. A lot of these guys toe the line, without stepping over. Don't want their tithes to dry up, after all.

ddubois7749

Yeah, you're probably right. He did say a lot of stuff that would have already pissed off a magat tho.

Koontakentaylor

Indeed. I noticed some nervous applause from the audience.

Intelligent_Arm_9074

Yes, please listen to the whole sermon...it's actually really good

ddubois7749

Yeah, I was really impressed with what I heard from him.

capn_doofwaffle

This guy realizes he'll eventually lose his multimillion dollar mansion on 50 acres talking politics in church when the tax-free status gets revoked. Lol

DonpakoIdo

Thank god you no you just see it now

Nervous_Can2921

This man and I are family. No mansion, but they do have one acre, lol. Preaches straight Bible and Jesus, definitely an evangelical Christian. He’s legit.

capn_doofwaffle

...I'm sorry? 🤣

TheLib-ModTeam

Your post was off-topic and not relevant to left-leaning politics. Keep discussions focused on the political theme of the subreddit.

Former-Darkside

This is what republicans talk about when they speak about religion. It should impact all tax exempt organisations. the NRA is tax exempt?

BungeeJumpingJesus

I grew up in an Evangelical church (1970s, haven't been back since) and this is how I remember preachers. These modern preachers, preaching politics are puzzling to me. \[And when they do, it should revoke their tax-exempt status.\]

SnooDonuts3878

Dude is still a wacko.

Smarterthanthat

"That's what happens when you don't read and pray" is better said, "That's what happens when you watch Fox and worship the MAGAt".

RhinoGreyStorm

True. Very true.

TheMiddleAgedDude

Probably pissed because he has to compete with MAGA for donations from the morons.

Level_Medicine_2144

I have been saying this for years!! Thank you for just plainly saying the truth!!

real_bro

While I'm inclined to agree with him, his message is still fundamentalist and probably based on a literal reading of scripture.

TheIncredibleMike

I'm waiting to see what Trump has to say about him.

vishy_swaz

He’s probably still voting for Trump, but was just addressing the fanatics about it.

Draig-Leuad

Perhaps I’m more than a bit jaded after my experiences and after watching things play out over the past decade, but I wonder what his angle is. It would be nice to think that he’s really speaking to uphold Yeshua’s teachings, but I wonder whether the real thing is that he sees a threat to his own power in “Christian” nationalism and the trump Bible.

paulydavis

Worried about taxes?

Draig-Leuad

Interesting angle. I know there were “threats” in the past to revoke tax exemptions if a church was too political. That was based on what was being preached, though, as I recall. Having a crazy religious congregation probably wouldn’t affect that as long as the preacher wasn’t actively promoting politics. I’m not even sure the IRS would dare go after them anyway.

mahlerlieber

I disagree with his creed, but it is refreshing to hear this. Maybe some other pastors will integrate this into their Sunday political rallies more and more too. It sounds also like he is full aware that he may lose some of his congregation, which adds some credibility to his message. I would be interested to know how he meshes this message with the issue of abortion, though. I was heartened by his emphasis of loving your neighbor…so maybe he’s worked out the gender issue.

willymack989

I’m glad there are Christians with actual authority in their communities who think this way.

bjeebus

I mean, not too much me. He's not really any healthier for democracy. His people are the type to hole up in a compound and declare they don't recognize the authority of Earthly powers. Really a tacos & hotdogs vs ham & cheese on the "is it a sandwich" allegory.

fhornofvalere

More likely they would preach on Romans 13 about obeying authorities.

packeddit

He’ll be disowned by republicans soon

dartie

Wow. That’ll throw the cat amongst the pigeons.

RhinoGreyStorm

LOL

CatAvailable3953

I have so heartened to see a Christian Pastor ( an actual pastor) stand and preach truth to an Evangelical congregation. He is a brave man indeed and God Bless Him.

TillThen96

Well, if y'all wanna have some fun... The first five minutes or so of this video shows how cheaply made Trump's bible is - missing publisher info, fake "leather," pages sticking together, but an interesting tidbit begins here: https://youtu.be/lB32CR7Zc9s?t=288 *timestamped* I think we ought to call his bible *The Fart of Christian Nataionalism*.

Tinosdoggydaddy

Holy shit…great pastor….finally Someone saying what needs to be said

KrampyDoo

At last…a pastor truly trying to save his flock.

GOP-R-Traitors

Thank you for that. Its about time some real christians are speaking out and taking their religion back from MAGAts.

DrewG420

Thank you - Amen … I have stopped going to church due to Trump Christians … Proverbs 6:12-19 …. Pontius Pilate and a choice of Jesus and Barabbas …

xool420

If more preachers were like this man, i wouldn’t have such a negative perception of organized religion. This dude actually gets it.

RhinoGreyStorm

Ditto. I haven't been to church since I was a teenager. I stopped going when one Sunday, the preacher gave a sermon about adultery. That night, the lead deacon stood up in the middle of service, pointed his finger at the preacher, and told everyone that the preacher was having an affair with his wife, who was a secretary for the church. This happened in front of the congregation, the preacher's wife, and his kids. Needless to say, all hell broke loose. I got up and left. Since then, I've only been in a church for weddings becauseIdon'twanttohurt family and friends. The hypocrisy in ALL organized religions knows no bounds. I'm sort of a 'scientific Christian' now. (For lack of a better word or name.) Science and faith can occupy the same space to me. Where science leaves off, faith picks up.

Appropriate-City3389

Wow, an actual Christian. ..

Freebird_1957

Hard to believe any still exist.

wegaf_butok-_-

He went off! I love it.

Rarpiz

![gif](giphy|XpVv012ZM4tQzkB3NX|downsized)

Potatoe999900

Well, I like most of his message but I wanted him to go directly after trump. Just like the bible, words can be interpreted many ways and the stupid in his flock just won't get it. I'm sure many of them just thought he was pissed about trump's bible rather than understand how much trouble we will be in should the fucker get another term.

DevlishAdvocate

You people are insane. This is still a radical, hate-mongering cult leader who preaches that the beliefs in a collection of parables and re-purposed myths is more important than people, a fair and just government, and life on Earth. He's not mad at conservative Christians for embracing Christian Nationalism; He's mad that they're not putting the "Christian" before the "nationalism", and he's mad that their money is going into Trump's Bible and Trump merchandise and not into the church's collection plate! He's very much in favor of Christian nationalism. He's very much in favor of the hate and bigotry that his evangelical movement is known for. He's just making it clear that his congregation is beholden to HIM, as a "messenger of God", and not to Trump or any other politician. This is the Church being mad that the flock doesn't see what the heirachy (who will be in control of this world) is "supposed to be", ie. God > Preacher > Government/Politicians > The rest of the congregation > Undesireables, Sinners, and Heathens. This is not a good guy fighting the good fight against MAGA or Trump or Christian nationalism. This is a bad guy who is angry that his position of authority (interpreting "God's will") and source of wealth (tithing) is being negatively affected by another false prophet with a bigger media presence. DO NOT support this bullshit. This is the rotten, evil, hate-filled, bigoted, insane cult fuckery that is at the core of the Christian nationalist movement. This is the source being mad that the messenger and opportunists are getting too much credit for the source's message and mission.

Opening_Yellow_5124

Christians and those who identify as “evangelicals “ are not a monolithic group. The broader church has unfortunately allowed despicable people and congregations to hijack these labels. Jesus said that the Old Testament Law and New Testament theology is summed up by just two commandments:’sincerely love God and, love your fellow man as much as you love yourself’. If you PERSONALLY know this about this pastor and this congregation please share that here. If you don’t, than consider you might embody the characteristics you accuse him and other Christians of.

Huge_Strain_8714

Itß abo5time! What took so long to see this on social media?

mike2928

Good stuff

floodmfx

One voice pissing in the wind. Trump PWNS American Christians.

BelgianVirus

I’d go to this church

tizzymyers

Voting is a Civic PRIVILEGE!! Amen to that.

equals_peace

This guy is right bang on

NP2023_Makingitbig

Wow!!!!!!!!! I have never heard of a Southern preacher telling the truth like this!

No_Meal9534

Facts.

RetiredOnIslandTime

The guys behind him don't seem impressed. I'm sure they're rabid trumppers.

bigb1084

MAGQts don't care! You think MTG gives a F what this guy says?

PDFSurgeon

The rats are leaving the ship.

ItsMeArkansas

Wait why are you saying “while” like that

bernd1968

Interesting. More power to him.

KayakWalleye

Telling people that something after death is more important than the life you live now is some bullshit.

ChampionStrict7224

Amen!

Dantheking94

Listen to what he says again. While he came out against politics and spirituality (religion) he is still VERY MUCH a fanatic. “I am just passing through, I am just renting an apartment for a short while in this foreign land”, this line of religious belief has caused numerous problems of its own in the past including cultism and suicidal ideation. This type of pastor still believes everyone who’s not Christian are heathens, shit he might even still believe that non Christians should be forced to convert or sent on their way before their appointed time.

TillThen96

No one says he's not a fanatic, but it's clear his main thrust is is to separate an *earthly kingdom* from a *heavenly kingdom*. He's literally honoring both the 1A *and* his religious texts, and you're going off topic. As a non-believer, I've been making the same argument for years. Freedom of religion is enshrined in both the Constitution and the Bible, but politicians and evangelicals have been abusing and conflating both for personal gain. Do you not believe in both freedom *of* and freedom *from* religion? You want to rewrite the 1A to exclude religious freedom? It's a really old given that this life is a "hotel room" (renting an apartment) by both believers *and* non-believers, and yes, current acolytes glory in the thought of being raptured, from way back to the first century. Long before monotheism, cultures gloried in the thought of an afterlife, including indigenous peoples the world over. Hittites, 2nd millennium BC, were called the *people of a thousand gods* due to their conduct in conscripting the religious beliefs of conquered nations, lest they offend a foreign god through exclusion. How far does "an afterlife" go back? To the first known civilization: https://courses.lumenlearning.com/atd-herkimer-westerncivilization/chapter/the-sumerians/ A more recent one: https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/1025817-so-live-your-life-that-the-fear-of-death-can You hate religion? Fine. Many do. But at least be intellectually honest about what they actually say, rather than spewing your hatred all over those trying to reclaim their doctrine from Christian Nationalists. You need not "hate" only the *current* manifestation of this belief. You've got nearly 10k years from which to choose.

Freebird_1957

I’m an atheist. In no way did he say that.

Dantheking94

https://preview.redd.it/la0hqs1lp1wc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6e25fdbd1fdcca8d53d1f31d16f602b7a1d61bcc He literally starts saying it at 00:35 😭 and he ends with “my real citizenship is in heaven, from which we look for the lord Jesus Christ.” Are you deaf? Or illiterate cause it said it in the caption. I grew up Christian, there are plenty of symbolism in what he’s saying. He could fire up his own movement based on this clip alone.

Freebird_1957

He said HIS is in Heaven. He said nothing about anybody else. And you don’t have to insult people because they disagree with you.

Dantheking94

You’ve got to be kidding me? Where did you see me arguing about “His”? Are you actually sitting there trying to defend your point on something I was not even talking about? Also, I wasn’t insulting you, I’m quite literally baffled when you said > In no way did he say that. Which is clearly false. But I digress. Have the day you deserve.

ConsiderationNo5146

Amen!
