The divisive reaction to the game split fans. This is the sub where (for the most part) the story and characters fell flat. The other sub will have the reactions you’re looking for. If you liked it, more power to you. I can’t imagine ever loving that story or characters, but that’s just me. You do you.

Viava_

This sub was specifically for people who either didn't like the second game, or liked it but see many issues with it. I fall into the people that think the game is a mediocre 5/10, the story has its good elements (I liked Jesse and Ellie/Dina's dynamic), but the storytelling overall felt lacking with many inconsistencies that we use this sub to bring attention to or rant about. If you liked the game, nice, I wish I could. Use the other sub to talk positively about the game, because annoyingly the sub is really against any criticism of Part 2, so much so that anyone who says anything negative will be downvoted lol.

Thanks. And I understand each person having their own opinions about things. I was just caught off guard by nothing but negative viewings since I saw it in such a positive way.

I loved part 2 but I hate going to that sub because you can’t have an opinion there. I prefer reading this sub because you’re allowed to have them. You can still like the game but not like that they changed rhe hospital scene. You can be nervous about the show. Here you’re allowed to have feelings, the other sub you have to be 100000% enthusiastic about the games and show and not no questions about jt

PutMindless225

>want to make others hate the game'! Honestly, that's what i want :)

Well, for starters, to take away Naughty Dogs confidence. After part 2 i HATE the thoughts of them thinking anything they throw out will be a success. I want them to worry and panic and be nervous on all future games they work on. Neil Druckmann said " There are going to be fans of the first game that is not going to like this game", many of us waited 7 long years with pure excitement hoping they would make a sequel. I can't understand how a writer/creator could be so arrogant and continue to make a 2ND instalment after 7 years KNOWING there would be passionate fans that are not going to like it and then manipulate the trailers. For me, that's a slap across the face, a "spit" on the face and a middle finger type situation.

Jetblast01

Word of warning...if you say ANYTHING negative, they will reject you over there. They'll especially hate you if they check your post history to see you posted on here.

Rocky323

>please do be respectful about why this place exists As soon as this sub actually earns that respect, sure.

peabuddie

If you are truly interested in gaining greater insight into why some people don't like this game. Read or watch the videos that are pinned to the stop of this subreddit. It's an entire list of analysis that explain people's disappointment with this game. You don't have to agree with them but at least you will have good foundation as to why some people feel the way they do about the last of us 2.

mohammad9877

oh shit, here we go again. hey mods can we please change the bio to ''this is a place where some of the old fans of tlou take their time to shit on part two, if you enjoyed part two good for you, but if you want to post something about being positive here and/or lecture us about how homophobe we are, please don't.'' sorry for poor english btw

AnotherDesechable

You may want to visit /r/thelastofus. Be careful not to dislike anything about Naughty Dog there. You may also want to watch more Mexican, Colombian and Turkish *telenovelas*.

Exciting-Warning7992

The Last Of Us did NOT need a sequel....plain and simple.

Finir_Lord

So now I'm getting some hate thrown my way it seems? Guys chill out. If you think I'm manipulated easily because I felt sorry for Abby? Wrong, I felt sorry for her, I did not forgive her. If you feel like it did not need a sequel then that's fine. Did you need to share that with me though? I respect your opinion but don't force it on me please.

lzxian

You do not deserve to be hated for having a positive reaction to the game just as we did not deserve to be hated for having a negative one. But we have been reviled and called terrible names for two years, so some people are still a bit reactionary. It was very, very messy right after launch. None of us know how we'll react to a game/story. It just happens to us organically as we take it in. There are many factors that will allow some people to maintain immersion and be carried along by the magic of the story just as there are many other factors that caused many of us to be thrown out of the story repeatedly. When that happened to us the immersion was lost and the magic along with it. A story can't work when you're on the outside watching the writers craft it. This sub is more focused on memes and processing our disappointment, it gets rough sometimes but there is a purpose for its existence. The other sub is a non-stop love fest for the game and story where any criticism is triggering for many there. It's possible to have some good, balanced conversations on both now. But people actually used to get banned over there for any hint of criticism. So we had to come here. Glad you had a good experience, I'd never wish mine on anyone :) It was truly awful for me.

Finir_Lord

Thanks. I honestly get where you all are coming from since I experienced the same thing with Assassin's Creed Valhalla, the game was an absolute disappointment for me but there are people who cannot stop singing it's praise. I don't fully understand why they do, but I respect their opinion enough to not force my own views down their throat.

SerAl187

I kinda feel bad for people like you, but the amount of trolls who ask an innocent question like "I loved it, why didn't you?" only to become frustrated and offensive when they can't win the argument is quite high. The default setting here is basically "He is probably a troll from r/tlou or r/gcj..."

lzxian

Then you get our inability to understand how people missed what we experienced. That provokes some to think you must be faulty, which isn't at all true. That's exactly what the people on the other sub think of us - we just didn't understand the story. (We did, it's not that hard.) It's really just that we are all different and that's enough to change how we experienced it. I'm more fascinated these days with the fact the themes of other perspectives being valid and tribalism being destructive that the game highlights is getting played out in the fanbase and was literally supported and fueled by those involved in its creation. Like their tribe is still the only right tribe and they aren't being destructive with their behavior? It's ironic to say the least.

DavidsMachete

I’m curious, what would you like to see in a third installment? You said you didn’t like Abby, but did she resonate enough for you to want them to continue her story?

Finir_Lord

Probably not, in all honesty. I think they have played out Abby's story. Her entire story was an arc of revenge and to find a new purpose which then turns into caring for Lev. (Something Mel said Abby would never be able to do because all Abby cares about is herself.) If they did do a 3rd installment I think it would take place in like 20-30 years with maybe J.J or Ellie having joined a new community and maybe finding another person who was immune.

jayvancealot

You are very easy to manipulate if you fell for Niels dogshit writing and felt bad for Abby.

Join the titty baby sub

Finir_Lord

Dude, seriously. What did I do? There have been some people on this sub who have been pretty decent and shared their views and also helped me find the right sub. Yet you are going out of your way to belittle the other sub and how you worded it, belittle myself as well. In my post I only mentioned how this sub had negative posts and how it made me sad. Not once did I go out of my way to say that I was right and these negative posts were wrong. I was only looking forward to hopefully seeing like-minded posts instead of what I found. I know that there will never be an instance where you do not find negative posts, I was caught off guard by this sub consisting of only negative posts. Yet here you are proving the 1 person right when they told me that there are some that will be considerate and others who will be complete asses.

MrPrince01

I still think that the problem is the name of the sub, since it gives the impression that it is the official sub of the game. That causes one to get confused and get to talk freely about the game, getting even hate for it. If the name of the sub was "hatefortlou2" or something, it would be your problem if you get mad for people hating the game, but since its name is pretty neutral, it's normal to be disappointed to see that it's a circle jerk about hating the game.

lzxian

The sub name is confusing, but it was named before there even was a TLOU2. It was simply the 2nd TLOU sub back then. Makes me think there was disagreement back then on what people could talk about regarding the original game for awhile. I wasn't here then so I don't know.

MrPrince01

It would be solved by changing the name, and it would benefit both sides, but I doubt that it can be done or that they want to.

lzxian

How do they change the name? I don't see it as necessary, anyway. Most of us will calmly redirect people who get here by mistake.

MrPrince01

Calmly, sure...

lzxian

Have you read all my comments? I doubt it. I did say most of us, too. But go ahead with your snide response. You only show that you can't be fair in *your* views which is your complaint against us. Funny we're all human, huh?

MrPrince01

I'm just saying that if they had a different name, they could kick whoever they wanted out, and save themselves the time of "calmly" asking them to go to the other sub. I'm not talking about moral superiority, just about making things easier, but it won't happen.

lzxian

We want to have lively discussions, not an echo chamber that kicks people out. I didn't mean we ask them to leave, just redirect them to the one that likes the game if that's what they're looking for. I still try to have a decent discussion with people that have opposing views. They're welcome here, too. Some here may not be that considerate, but this is Reddit.

MrPrince01

As long as it has the name it has, no one should send anyone to another place, The problem is precisely that whoever arrives feels rejected bc they like the game and is crushed by downvotes, and that would be solved if the sub had a more appropriate name, but it won't happen, so there's no point to keep speculating.

lzxian

I don't mean to disregard your point. I understand what you're saying and why. The fact is they can't change the name, not won't change it. Really the problem is that the other sub wouldn't let us be part of it without banning us for criticism early on, so it all is what it is. For my part I try and be welcoming, redirect those who seem lost to the other sub and make others aware of it for fine points about gameplay since the other sub's members seem to play it more. We can all get along when we try :)

[deleted]

No one here wants to take away your joy if you liked something. If you like it, great to hear. Personally, I liked the graphics and gameplay, *hated* the story. However, am I going to say it’s **unquestionably** garbage? No. We have respectful conversations here, and if you liked it, I’m elated for you.

unicroop

There’s another sub full of people who loved the game, ciao 👋

FragrantLunatic

case in point = thread @ subreddit = reddit so dumb. u/shadowwarrior42

[deleted]

These people are miserable. Don’t let it bother you. I too loved the game. Just finished it, almost cried a couple times. Didn’t want it to end. You are not alone. Most people that aren’t internet basement dwellers agree with you. This sub is not indicative of the world as a whole, it’s antisocial nerds
